She enjoys portraying herself as a half-aware and dimwitted beast, drunken in the stupor of her own bodily composure.
This is just a list of all of the characters in my story, Parasympathy. However, it doesn't reference any as yet unnamed supporting side characters, like Linda's suboordinate, or the ghostly "shade" that speaks to Akira on a street when he was very young.

That's 41 characters. And believe it or not, they all have their own distinct characteristics and personality quirks, and histories.
I don't mind answering any questions you might have about my characters. =)
And FYI, I had the idea that Chanda (Nigel's mother) and Gloria (Nigel's grandmother) were of dragon blood ("dragonborn") in mind before TES5 Skyrim came out on 11-11-11, point being that I wasn't inspired by Skyrim to make up those characteristics about them, lol. The stuff surrounding my characters mostly stems from the old PC game called "Exile" (also called "Avernum"), made by these people: www.spiderwebsoftware.com
As far as I'm concerned, it's only coincidence to me that the inhuman races in the TES universe share a close similarity to the inhuman races in Avernum (feline Nephilim race/feline Khajiit race, reptilian Slithzerikai race/reptilian Argonian race). I only got into TES as of 2009 (Xbox version of Morrowind). I grew up on Exile/Avernum (However, it's indisputable that the TES world is by far more developed than the world in Avernum, but lets just pretend that the stories I'm writing are still significant just for kicks, hmm?).

And "Fusion angel"? I can easily see who they're a "fusion" of, but now I'm compelled to go back and read to see if that's explained in detail. Seems a bit abstract with the information on this journal. X3
"Angel" the greater angel? I wonder if that could cause awkward situations regularly...
Also, the "greater angel" reference is something of an uneducated naming issue, since I'm not exactly very educated on divinely implying things. Basically it means that him and Alema are more powerful than Renewal, Misfortune, Loathesome, and Insatiable.
Also, I've seen the "dragon blood" idea used in several things that came before TES. I don't really recall those things, but it's somewhat of a passive, imaginative idea used in fantasy settings and themes in general.
And to clear up a thing, I honestly love the TES universe. It was one random day that I remembered the name "Morrowind" being the name of a fantasy game on the original Xbox, and since I was doing some looking-over at the titles of the Xbox library, I wanted to check that one out. I'm a little bit of a fan of the "Champions of Norrath" "Everquest" game on PS2 (that, its sequel, and the two "Baulder's Gate" games. They're just damn good fun.^^). I never played the old Everquest games, but when I was in the Cisco Networking computer class of my old vocational high school, I remember a guy from the computer programming class next to us who brought that game in and installed it on his comp in that class. I never got a chance to get a good lookover of it, but from what I saw, it looked like a pretty interesting game.
I thought of that game series when I thought to look up Morrowind. It was back before I had a computer or iPod and all (and when I still slept upstairs, lol. XD) I checked out a video boasting some high graphics enhancement mods for Morrowind, and since the game looked really interesting to me (gotta love that main theme music. ) I ended up getting the Xbox version of it. And etc. etc., and I got the GotY Xbox version later, and then the GotY PC version later, and
The Exile series was really nice for its time. Starting out kinda similar to TES, with "special attribute points" to add to your character's skill pools in the beginning character creation so as to define your characters' roles (it was party-based, and "top-down" view). I always played around with naming my characters "Akira" for the 1st player sword weilder, and "Nigel" for the bow weilder (got that name from the Sega Genesis game called "Landstalker: The Treasures of King Nole"), then "Katherine" for the mage, and "Sheryl" for the healer. And since the original Exile allowed for 6 starting characters, I named the 5th one "Shila Rani," and the 6th one "Kaldon," which were two names that I got from a VERY OLD fantasy story book that I read when I was really young. Part 2 came out at some point, giving you the option to play as the nephilim and the slithzerikai races, and I messed around with names, like giving the name "Slade" to a spear-weilding slith, and making all the characters demi-humans. I literally got the idea for Akira to be an orange-furred nephil from an old character sprite for nephil characters that looked like an orange-furred nephil with a sword. And I also got Nigel's appearance from a nephil sprite that had black fur and white paws. And even Katherine's appearance too, from a sprite that looked a little feminine, and of a lightly brown hue, with a little green flame hovering above one hand. I don't remember an appropriate character sprite appearance for how Sheryl looks in my stories, and I think I always resorted to making her a human character (unless I'm mistaken), so I didn't use that character, and used Slade instead, who had a sprite that was of an average green slith who looked like he was holding a spear. Shila's sprite was of a lightly green slith with red eyes, and Kaldon's sprite was of a darker hued slith with blue eyes. Funny thing was, you could alter tha ACTUAL races of your characters to be something OTHER than what their character sprites looked like (that you had to choose), which could be kinda akward. XD The little 50 x 50 images for characters were really just placeholders (and the game had really static graphics - you usually didn't see much animation in things, save for the fire of a torch on a wall, or water. Part 3 did a major change to the graphics, and everything looked a whole lot prettier.^^).
Wow, ginormous comment. XD I just seem to be in the mood to talk about the game that inspired my writing, among other things.
Heh, I didn't mean the "Greater angel" part - I meant the character Angel, who is a greater angel.
The TES world... I'll definately agree with you; it's a nice place. Has its flaws, but so does everything. =3
Baldur's gate and its sequel were nice games, but man, they were brutal on mages. T_T Minsc always was the best character - "Go for the eyes, Boo!"
As for the Exile series... Sounds like something I'd be interested in playing. I like my Roleplaying games, even if they really should be called "adventure" games for the better part.
And that "VERY OLD" book - what was the name? Curse me for my curiosity, if anything.
Altering a race, though? Sounds rather novel for a non-text game.
Now that I think of it, that game was VERY similar to TES. Enchanted weapons that did extra, specific kinds of damage, and several weapon types (like Morrowind), and items that had various effects on you, some of which were harmful, or even deadly. Avernum has an alchemy system just like TES, though it's more simplified. And I think you could go and get your weapons enchanted by special NPCs, JUST like Morrowind!
Now I have an urge to go back and play that game all the way from Part 1. I never really COMPLETED any of the Exile/Avernum games since back then the ones I had were the "shareware" versions a.k.a. "the versions where you could explore the whole subterranean world of Exile EXCEPT for the regions that REALLY started getting into the heart of the story's plot." I spent hours and hours on that game only to walk into an "invisible wall" on the overworld map later in the game.
And that book... -- I have NO recollection of what it was called. ;_; It was a real gem of a fantasy book (like sooo many others back then...). It featured several short fantasy stories in it. Boy were there LOTS of great old fantasy books lying around libraries back then! I remember one that was simply called "Dragons," and it featured some really in-depth stuff about them. Stuff like old legends (authentic lore stuffs, if I'm correct) and general mythological references from old cultures and spiritual beliefs - a whole LOT of stuff. And that particular book was HEAVY on visual aids. If I'm not mistaken, I was looking at stuff that might as well have been friggin' pornography. "Pseudo-porn" and such like crazy... @_@ <333
I wish I could remember the names of all those old books! DX There are two particular ones that I read - ANCIENT stuff - one being one that I read while still in elementary school, and the other being one that I read in junior high school. The one in elementary school was called "The Dragon's Boy," and the other one (that I would just MELT over if I could read it right now...) was called "The King and The Crown." The main protagonist was a girl named "Aerin," and the story centered around not only her experiences as a "dragon hunter/slayer" (I forget how they put it), but even her everyday life as a woman. The narration was beautiful, and kinda reminds me of the "personality-centric" style that I employ in my own writing, where it went as far as to delve into the smallest of personal moments and struggles of the characters. I can still remember that Aerin had another female character who was like a spiteful type of character against her, and for personal reasons that lied within the boundaries of things like jealousy and envy, etc. It was an enthralling read.
The books I'm mentioning are so old that I don't think you'd even be able to find them these days. D= It was over 11 years ago - back in the late 90s - that my family went to the local library one day, and I went searching on the computers (Windows 98...) for those books only to be disappointed in not being able to find them anymore. ;_;
That "VERY OLD" story book I mentioned to you looked to be ragged and falling apart even back then when I read it. It's probably impossible to find now, unless it was somehow preserved. But I don't remember its name.
I think I remember reading somewhere on the internet (several years ago) that there was some sort of "movement" that took place over a decade ago where lots of books were selectively removed from libraries all over the place. I don't remember the details, but I DO vaguely remember that such a thing DID happen at one point. I guess someone turned their nose up at the fact that kids were getting some "REAL DEAL" shit back in those days, and didn't want them to be "scarred forever..." >:U
I remember some beautifully pseudo-erotic imagery man, like a drawing of a woman lying down against a dragon that had its neck hugging over her arm with its head lying down in her lap, or a drawing of a naked person standing within the coils of a large serpent (a sort of diagram).
Nowadays they censor the utter FUCK out of everything so hard that it's [imind-numbing. -_-
Granted in roguelikes, equipping a non-BUC-identified piece of armor could get you KILLED... [Amulets of strangulation, I'm looking at YOU here.]
And damn. Fair enough, given it was a long time ago. I've gotta say, I liked books that focused on folklore or mythology as well, it's interesting to see how different cultures portrayed the creatures within.
As for personality-centered styles of writing, they're rare nowadays if what I've read recently can be the judge. =\ Granted, it's not very easy to keep your main character in character all the time with that style, let alone prevent an unintentional plot hole or two.
...You know, I wonder. What would happen if you said you used to run windows 98 on a computer to a little kid nowadays? reckon they'd think it was a step up from 7 thanks to the numbers? X3
As for the old book, yeah, I guess you've got a point there. Oldest book I've actually read was from the late 50's, I think, and it was called "What is this thing called science". It was rather hilarious, actually.
Hell, censoring could probably get to the vitruvian man at this rate. Might've spelled that wrong, but oh well. -. -.
Heck, if you think censoring THERE is bad... Australia: we have no R-18 rating, so we'll make one. Not adding anything NEW here, just making our system even LESS ACCESSIBLE. Hell, we censored [or was it banned? probably the former.] a fighting game for being too violent. What the fuck were they thinking? XD
