Sylvernum is a grim-dark world inspired by Berserk, Bloodborne, The Witcher Franchise, and Dark Souls set in an anthropomorphic low-magic world during their own Renaissance. This Macabre world is infested with death, war and destruction. Searching for solstice, many have turned to the Ecclesia Magna and their Magus hunters for protection, only solidifying the destruction of the immortal creatures known as Mythicals.
With the uprising of Ecclesia Magna Domnifica in the regions La Lunalibaise & Raoinvyso'ye, Slipfiends have emerged, ravenging villages and cities alike, leaving only massacred corpses & destroyed landscapes.The Ecclesia Magna’s recent destruction of the Licornes and their capitol of Matria’Licorna has thrown the world into chaos, the slipfiends breaking free from cracks deep within the earth without rest. Despite this, the gluttonous nobles and monarchs of the lands around Tír'nafee are embroiled in wars and fights over the remaining lands, seeking a piece of the arcana-touched mountains & plains for themselves. Unknown to mortal kind, the Magus Hunter’s near-extinction of many of the mythical races of the world is weakening the Interstice, allowing the slipfiends to devour the world itself. Despite this, more of these immortal creatures are hunted each day due to both greed and fear.
Many mortal creatures cry out for respite from the horrors and destruction & infighting between the many once-allied nations across the Disk has caused the world to only fall deeper into chaos as the Interstice grows thinner. However, the seemingly dying world has some glitters in the darkness. The recent empire known as Wulfheim in the High North is considered a respite from the constant war due to the iron-fisted rule of the second King of the North: Fenris Svartulf. After the death of the great Veturgandr by the King’s conquest of the four rivaling Iǫtunnulf Ættinr has turned the once war and bandit ravaged lands into an intimidating empire. Many of the Disk’s great nations are now nervously looking upon the militaristic empire as it begins its march southbound, occupying the kingdoms of Leoncia after a trade deal gone awry. Due to this fear, the Ecclesia MAgna Domnifica has grown only in fevor and worship, seeking to dig its claws deeper within all the realms of the world.
Due to their magical creation, mythical creatures have access to one thing mortals do not : true magic. A wild, almost impossible thing, Mythical creatures may do true spellwork. From mending wounds, purifying water, summoning fire and controlling the very strings of death themselves, these Mythical creatures are powerful and rare, their bodies flowing with true Incarna. With the rise of Ecclesia Magna Domnifica, their hunters have forged these immortal beings into trinkets, trophies, flesh-armor & bone weaponry, gifting these once simple mortals those great magics.
