Aerius Sygale Backstory 5 - A Beautiful Relationship
Aerius Sygale Backstory – A Beautiful Relationship
A couple days and a night passed since Aerius' first encounter with Mondschein, now a very special friend to him, with an immovable place in his heart.
Just as Aerius had enough time to more significantly start missing him, somebody was sneaking up behind him in open fields just like when he and Moon first met two nights earlier, and got splashed playfully by cold water.
Aerius leaped up off the ground startled and yelped at the sudden cold water on his body out of nowhere...because right now there actually wasn't a body of water around for miles. He turned around to look behind him, and was overjoyed to find Mondschein standing cool with a sly smirk upon his muzzle and an almost silent little chuckle in amusement from his reaction from getting splashed.
He rushed with open arms to him and held Moon close, murring very happily and wagging his tail like a puppy. “Ahh, Moooooon! I'm so happy to see you, I missed you~” Aerius exclaimed, smiling wide resting his head on his should and against his neck.
“I am happy to see you too, dearest, precious Aerius.” he said with the most warm and gentle of smile, they nearly instantly had a truly beautiful relationship with each other, “Before I introduced myself to you,” he continued, “two nights ago, I never felt much emotion at all, except for the night before...you were so sad and distraught... At first I wasn't sure, but looking back on that moment, I may actually have felt a couple tears trickle down my face, I was just so fixed on seeing and hearing you...”
Moon clung tight to Aerius, already shedding a few tears as he shut his eyes firmly, clenching his teeth in grief for the poor demon vessel wolf with the red markings created upon his fur by it within him.
Aerius had a close view of his expression, and his eyes teared up nearly instantly at his emotional pain. “Oh, M-Moon... Moooon... Monnndscheeeeeeinnn......” he moaned sorrowfully, burying his muzzle into Moon's chest, to soon feel his tears drop into the back of his head. They would glisten as they passed over his softly glowing runes, highlighted by moonlight, as Aerius' tears fell to Moon's soft, warm chest.
They silently embraced closely for a few minutes time, until the pain was cried out. Suddenly, the two of them at once raised their heads, and for the first time they simultaneously said to each other while looking into each other's eyes “I love you.”, a few seconds later brushing the side of their muzzles lovingly against each other as they closed their eyes, breathing softly on each other's cheek warmly for a good minute more.
Finally the close embrace was broken from slowly, and instead Moon started scritching gently at Aerius' chest. “As much as I wanted to see you anyway, I came for a particular reason; to demonstrate to you some of my special powers, it would be handy for you to know that I possess them.” he stated, then gave his significant other's lips tenderly with a soft murr.
Aerius' ears perked up curious for a moment before he tilted his head to a side curiously. “Powers, hm? There isn't any water very nearby, so that cold splash of water I felt, was that a trick you did with one of your powers, Moon?” he responded in a guess, now having a feeling the answer to this is quite likely yes.
The blue runic black wolf smiled slyly and nodded. “Hmhm, that would be correct my attentive one~ It is a branch of my Flow Magic; Flow of Water. My others are Flow of Wind, Flow of Gravity, Flow of Time, and my potentially darkest, but most potent one; Flow of Blood. The demon's greatest attribute is blood, it could drown and poison a world from the surface down, so of my powers, blood related ones of mine are magnified exponentially.”
Aerius shuddered at the thought. “Surely it has some positive use, too, doesn't it...?” he asked.
Moon nodded and placed a hand on the wolf's shoulder tenderly, reassuring him. “Of course, Aerius. I actually already demonstrated one example of that to you that first night we met, hmhmhm...”
Aerius paused to think for a moment, then as it occurred to him, his cheeks donned a bright blush. “O-oh, you mean you really...?”
“Yes, I really did -that-, and gazing into yours eyes is always a beautiful moment...” Mondschein stated, as he proceeded to do just that, casting a warm gaze upon Aerius' eyes, moving up to press his nose lightly against his, placing his right paw on his left cheek, gently brushing across it back and forth with his thumb.
They would so quickly and easily become trapped in each other's gaze just so, they already seemed to admire and love each other as much as anyone ever could. They didn't want to do or think about anything else, just lock themselves up in their eyes' spell.
Aerius now did the same with his right paw to Moon's left cheek, brushing his thumb gently against it.
“I love you so much, beautiful, precious Mondschein...”
“I love you so much too, dear, sweetest Aerius...”
Mondschein was very much at risk of completely forgetting what he initially came to him for, but he didn't care. Not now. It isn't like his powers were going anywhere, after all. More than anything he wanted to be close with Aerius, always.
The two's eyes now were welling up with tears of a joy that ran most deep. It was one that couldn't be expressed with words. Surely enough, the night went on and neither one could break from sharing sweet, tender affections with the other as they now laid upon their sides. Facing each other, fingers softly rustling through each other's furred chests.
After a few warm minutes of keeping that up, one of their hands joined and interlocked fingers, while the other was held lovingly over the left side of the other's chest, heart calmly, happily and peacefully beating against it.
Moon sighed happily, “How I wish we could remain just like this for all eternity, without end...but alas, I am bound to hours of dark light of which I can relax in the open like this, so if when not at night, it would have to be a day thick with dark clouds to block the sun. Otherwise, I must spend hours upon hours a day not in your dear presence, so then I go to sleep so I can wake to an hour I can be with you again~”
It was made clear as one can see the stars of a cloudless night sky; if he couldn't be by the side of Aerius, he didn't want to be awake until he could. Sadly, Aerius couldn't be so lucky, he would be up and about a chunk of both hours of daylight and moonlight, as well as asleep for a chunk of both. He would have to spend hours a day apart from his dearest. He who completes him.
“Awww Moon, you say the sweetest of things~” Aerius praised, with the warmest of expression, “I don't want to ever be without you either, and wish this moment would never end, but I know...what the sunlight would do to you, and understand why, safely before dawn, you must be gone...”
Moon nodded and whimpered slightly, “...Yes, regrettably but inevitably, dear Aerius...”
Suddenly, Aerius winced, whimpered and clenched Moon's handpaw tighter from a sharp head pain. A pain he recognized, as he sadly had to break the loving contact with Mondschein to try keep a grip on himself, rolling his back onto the ground and placing a paw on each side of his head as it quickly intensified and his body began to tremble violently under the demon's attack.
“Ohh n-no, n-n-not n-noooowww...!” Aerius cried, greatly to Mondschein's alarm, who dove onto him and removed his paws away from the sides of the wolf's head, refusing for him to be harmed now.
“No...NOOO! I WILL NOT LET YOU HARM HIM!!” he shouted in a rage as he did what no one else could and used his direct connection with Aerius to take the brunt of the demon's assault, absorbing the immense pain and physical strain, as Aerius' body stopped trembling and his started to, as he kept his wolf's arms pinned down, with his eyes wavering and tearing up in intense suffering.
“Moon, you don't have to do this! Please stop!” Aerius pleaded as he struggled to loose himself from Mondschein pinning his arms down, to no avail, crying as he felt powerless to only watch him be suffering in extreme agony.
“Don't...try...t-to...s-st..op..me..” Moon uttered weakly and very shakily, his body having shifted ever so slightly to the right as he struggled mightily to hold up. As the roots of all his claws, fangs, nostrils, and corners of his eyes began to slowly ooze blood, he went further than Aerius ever took it; fighting it for what would end up being roughly twice as long to force it further back, so it would be much longer before it could unleash another assault on Aerius' body and mind.
Aerius, rather than being consumed in pain from the attack, he was finding himself this time consumed by grief as he saw nearly the entirety of Mondschein's life force leaving him as the glow of his beautiful blue runes gradually faded to becoming completely dim, like ordinary fur.
“STOP Mondschein! You're KILLING yourself!!” he cried in tremendous emotional distress. Finally, Moon's body stopped trembling. His grip loosed from Aerius' arms and his now dim eyes closed slowly, as he fell to the side like dead weight, deep into unconsciousness, as the blood he began to lose continued to navigate through his dark fur very slowly.
Aerius instantly rose to his knees facing Moon and hunched over him in fear as he looked for a sign of life from him. “Mondschein!? MOOONNNDSCHEEEEEEIN!!” he cried in unspeakable despair, collapsing onto him. That's when he felt his heart still beating. Slowly. And he still had a pulse. But no matter how loud Aerius cried or what he did now, he could not feel or hear any of it.
It wasn't long before it hit him; he must be taken to some spot fully sheltered from the sky before dawn would break in a short number of hours. Through all his grief, discomfort and worry, he would have to carry Mondschein an unknown distance to find him shelter from the coming dawn, without delay.
Aerius dragged himself miserably to the back of Moon, then started to slide his left arm across the back of and paw securely holding to the far side of his legs, as his right slid across his shoulder blades and secured that paw against his right side and up by the pit of his right limp arm, then stood up bringing him up with him, at waist level.
The wolf didn't feel relieved in the least at being spared of the attack on him physically and mentally, when the emotional price was so horribly steep. The head of his dearest hung limp down his arm, blood on his black nose, a drop falling to the ground, and clear traces of blood along near the two low corners of both his eyes, his fangs, and around the roots of his claws.
Aerius looked down upon selfless Mondschein, torn up by his current state, grimacing in extreme emotional agony, shedding tears over tears from both eyes onto Moon's dark chest. “Mondschein...” he whimpered indistinctly.
Several minutes of inconsolable crying and howling in deeply sorrowful, lonesome tones, he got it together enough to start moving forward, holding up in his steps relatively normal, considering, but was naturally still an emotional wreck.
“Don't worry, I won't let you be exposed to the harsh sunlight of day. I am tired, and could just cry all night, but no...I won't rest for night or morning until you are in a space safely sheltered from the sky for the coming dawn. I won't give up on it, not on you. I would die first.” he spoke both distraught and with great passion, and as if Mondschein could hear them, but deep down he knew he couldn't right now.
What started before long as a most beautiful, peaceful night, quickly had a turn to complete and utter nightmare. Aerius was heartbroken, dragging his feet through wilderness, his motionless, blood stained beloved in his arms, shedding tears seemingly to no end as he walked feeling as though he had nearly no will to live, as if Mondschein was already dead, just because he looks and feels like it, outside of his pulse and dangerously slow heartbeat.
He walked, and walked, and walked, grieving, his legs starting to feel slightly weaker, his steps scuffing along the ground more and more as they seemed to grow heavier and heavier. “Can't...stop...now...... Must...keep...moving...... Please...please...don't die...Mondschein...please...... God...guide me......”
Aerius saw a waterfall a ways ahead, the moonlight which was still holding up shined beautifully off of the water, sparkling under the late night sky. He would appreciate the pretty sight, but the sight closest to him locked him in unending grief, until he could see his eyes open. Until his calm, soothing, beautiful voice would speak again. Not a moment sooner.
The wolf thought as he got slightly closer that it looked hollow through the ever cascading water, and started to run towards it, but after several seconds his legs trembled, wobbled then gave out on him as he crashed hard onto the ground letting out a yelp as he did, then a miserable cry in distress, but never losing his hold on Mondschein.
He was about a hundred and fifty yards away and couldn't stand back up with Moon in his arms however, so he was forced to crawl along the ground, dragging his precious wolf behind him. It was agonizingly slow going, but it was looking increasingly hopeful that there was a cave behind the waterfall.
Aerius felt so much pressure, and his legs didn't even want to work anymore, and brighter light was now starting to return to the sky, which meant the sun was on its way and would soon emerge. “We're...almost...there......”
He whimpering in pain as each tug along the ground had to drag both his and Mondschein's weight, all his limbs were aching horribly now in his excruciatingly sorrowful trek to get his beloved to shelter. It was finally getting so very close...
“D-damn it...it..is right..there... Just...a little...further......ugh......”
Eventually they finally reached the water's edge in front of the waterfall, when Aerius saw the sun starting to peek over the horizon. “NOO! NOT NOW!! N-AAGH!!” he cried out sharply in pain as he hurried him around back of the crashing water and into the cave as deep as he could, roughly twenty feet deep, laying Mondschein straight back along the smooth stone ground, then collapsed face down beside him.
Aerius dragged himself over to rest his head on Moon's chest, directly over his heart, lifting Moon's arm out from under him to lay between his shoulder blades, placing its paw onto his normally fluffy but by now soaked with tears cheek. He now laid nearly motionless, with barely the strength to move himself if he wanted to.
“Please wake up, it has been so long...please Mondschein...I'll never sleep until you do, I will die here if that is what it takes... My heart hurts..Mondschein...” he said softly. Weakly. He clung tight to Moon with his left arm, and tenderly brushed his right handpaw against Moon's left cheek, stroking it very gently, looking upon his still face, quivering.
As his gaze prolonged and Mondschein remained unable to return it, Aerius grimaced and shut his eyes tight in anguish, burying his muzzle into Moon's chest, again streaming tears on top of tears onto him.
A full hour more of crying uncontrollably later, the sun by now rose quite high into the sky. For what it was worth, Mondschein was protected from the searing sunlight. In the entirely of that hour, Aerius never moved from his position on Moon, having Moon's left handpaw rested on the back of his cheek and resting his own head over his heart.
After what felt like an eternity, although Moon's eyes didn't open, his paw moved ever so slightly, as the ordeal and suffering Aerius went through retroactively flooded into his conscience, causing many tears to escape from his closed eyes, then finally his voice spoke, softly but weakly.
“...Please...poor dearest Aerius...your eyes must be burning terribly, please...spare them now, God has let me return to you...”
Aerius' eyes lit up as Mondschein sweetly stroked his cheek and spoke to him. “M-Mondschein!!” Aerius held Moon very close and tight to him, overjoyed as his tears instantly became those of overwhelming joy.
Mondschein grimaced slightly as it put a strain on his achy, ravaged body. “Oww...careful sweetheart, I'm still..very achy...”
He eased up after hearing this and lowered his ears, just looking as lovingly as possible toward Moon's face. “I-I'm sorry, I'm just so overjoyed to see you!~” he exclaimed warmly, tail smacking the cool stone beneath them happily.
At this, Mondschein found the strength to open his eyes, tilt his head to face Aerius directly, and with the sweetest expression. “And I you, Aerius~” he replied softly as he stroked the back of Aerius' head and neck, the corners of his muzzle creased upward in the warmest smile, eyes glassy with tears of joy as well.
“It is daylight now, just stay by my side all day and all night, my beloved~”
“I couldn't do otherwise if I wanted to, and I don't, sweet, selfless Aerius~”
Aerius shifted to laying full body against Mondschein's side, then said “Now where were we~” as he placed one of his paws in Moon's and interlocked their fingers, as the other went to rest over his wolf's heart again, gazing lovingly into his eyes.
“Just...please, never, ever do that again, this was tenfold painful for us both, my heart pained beyond words for you, seeing your bloody, motionless body limp in my arms...it was the most traumatic thing I could ever imagine, and it laid right before my eyes... Please, please never do it again, even though it will be painful to witness me force it down...”
“Yes, that certainly was a lesson learned the hard way, I am so sorry, I made you feel like you wished you were dead, thinking of life without me in it...which of itself touches me deeply. I swear it on my life Aerius, I will just do all in my power to nurture your wounds in the aftermath...”
Aerius shifted up Moon's side a bit to be perfectly lined up to him, pressing his nose warmly against, but whimpered a little at the sight of the blood stained on his nose, then tried to lick it clean. “Poor Mondschein...” he lamented, stroking his cheek gently with a paw.
“We're both..really..really worn out...” Aerius sighed exhausted and achy, “...we should just sleep through this day then enjoy the night...don't you think, dearly beloved Mondschein?” he suggested, nuzzling sweetly under Moon's muzzle and resting it against his neck, giving it some tender loving licks.
“Mmhmm, that would be nice, and agreed, I..still need to rest, quite a bit...may we rest closely and peacefully to the sound of the waterfall, my love...” Mondschein agreed, softly caressing Aerius' face lovingly with his tongue, closing his eyes gently, relaxing deeply in Aerius' warmth.
Aerius closed his eyes as well, at peace and relieved beyond words to have Moon back. “Sounds lovely...” he spoke softly, listening to the sound of the water cascading over stone as he nestled in under Mondschein's muzzle, starting to drift off into a deep slumber along with his dearest that would last through the long hours of daylight.
The shallow cave behind the water became noisy with the synchronized snoring from the now gaping maws of the two terribly exhausted, worn out wolves, too much so for each other's slumbering noise to wake either of them up.
It may not be my longest of written works, but damn if my eyes didn't burn while writing this, I hope you found it as emotional as I did as I was typing it up, and I'm pretty proud of doing this in less than 4 days time after the last backstory entry I did. For me, that is exceptionally soon to have another piece ready to put out.
After I have a commission in the works finished for me based on the previous entry, I'll be commissioning what should be a very powerful, sorrowful image from Aerius' initial surge of agony as he holds Mondschein in his arms... Thank you all for reading, comments and faves greatly appreciated as always!
A couple days and a night passed since Aerius' first encounter with Mondschein, now a very special friend to him, with an immovable place in his heart.

I may make a journal shortly with a suggestion to readers of my written works to periodically take the time to try hard to envision the scene they just read before proceeding, especially moments that go on for several minutes, to make it feel real. Comprehend the depth of affection in a loving scene, or the depth of grief in a traumatic scene...
Glad you liked the ending, too, hehe~ X3 Kind of a cute moment to end on.

Oh that sounds like a great idea hehe
Indeed it was very touching, All of it

Thank you~ I don't really get into doing actual fight scenes the same, but I realize some get right into that, and know sooner or later I have to have one or both of them taking on some enemy or enemies or something. Starting to get some ideas for it already, should probably push it to be in the next backstory entry. x3
