Sieg Special! In-Depth Lore and Mole-Digger Tribe Members!
Hello, fans! Today I am happy to finally be able to share a good, sizable lore chunk regarding the unique biology and culture of Sieg sergals. This includes both new lore, as well as some revisions. We will also share with you members of the Mole-digger tribe, which is featured in the ongoing Vilous manga episode 4. These details include full color artwork, their names, and basic biographies of each sergal!
In particular, we would like to call special attention to the following lore updates and revisions:
1. Fuzzball, the small sergal shown on the bottom right, was previously stated to be 7 years old, but having a very slender body due to his stunted growth in the lore description of EP4 page 51. However, his canon lore has been revised to be a younger age with normal growth. Going forward, Fuzzball will now be known as just being an average healthy baby sergal.
2. You may have noticed that in the artwork description above, some of the sergal characters now have "Little" before their name. This was done to reflect the vast spiritual borderline between a child and an adult, a concept too complex for the children to grasp themselves. Thus, to show that they acknowledge themselves as children when speaking to each other, they refer to themselves by saying "Little" before the name. This is a tradition unique to Sieg cultures and way of thinking.
3. Another change highlighted in the recent comic description is that Little Chatter and Little Oracle are now referred with gender-neutral pronouns, even though their actual gender was previously revealed. This is because Sieg children are not distinguished between male and female until they have fully matured mentally and culturally. Until then, all of the children live with a gender-neutral existence, and use similar pronouns of "they", "them", and "their". Do note that this does not affect the agudners, as their culture does recognize gender difference, though the Sieg sergals may not.

Sieg sergals reproductive system and its characteristics
Sieg Sergals can be very sexually active at varied points in their lifetime, to the point where they even procreate at seemingly random times. Due to the absence of any adult parents, young sergals will experience rapid growth and anatomical development to be able to survive and care for themselves at an early age. This is partially thanks to the ingestion of various Talyxian organisms, which may invariably reinforce their reproductive organs as well as other areas of their bodies.
A common activity found in groups of orphaned Sieg sergals is spontaneous copulation while sleeping with their fully-developed genitalia. Initiated without conscious decision, this activity can result in pregnancy, allowing for new children unexpectedly to be born into the clan of Sieg sergals. A child born by this method will not always have stunted growth, but typically they will be smaller in size when compared to the average sergal child.
The group of young Sieg sergals will seldom realize what occurred during the sleep-mating, but there is later usually a common understanding of a warm shared group dream instead. The activity of this sleep-mating is typically not comprehended by the sergal, from the simple lack of knowledge in the ideas and concept of copulation, pregnancy, and childbirth, but rather something is something unconsciously felt akin to simple instinct.
In fact, during the growing period of a pregnant member, other members of the group will recognize and share their sentiments over the new feeling of an added member to the clan, in a spiritual omen-like way. Sieg sergals have a unique ability to empathize and notice unborn children around them in this sensitive way. This empathic ability can be observed in adult Sieg sergals and some civilized sergals as well.
In most cases, spontaneous sleep-mating may be performed soon after any major change of fortune occurs, such as the loss of a member through death or departure, or a sudden surplus of food or supplies. The thought is that the change of fate allows or requires a new member, be it by replacing a departed member or having extra room in their stores to feed more mouths.
The Sieg sergals hold a unique tribal belief regarding death:
“Our new friend is our old friend coming home...”
“Children sometimes disappear somewhere, but they will return from somewhere again.”
In relation to this, Fuzzball from the Mole Digger Tribe is believed to be [Inside story! Patreon-exclusive content!]
While the tendency for young Sieg sergals to engage in mating activity seems high in contrast to other groups, this can easily be explained by their high mortality rate and natural instincts to survive near dangerous Talyxian biomes.
When compared against a typical group of Sieg sergals, the Mole Digger Tribe (appearing in the Vilous manga, episode 4) actually is populated with younger sergals than usual. While this is not a rare occurrence, a normal Sieg group often has members that age 13 years and older.
- Reproductive differences between normal sergal and sieg -
Civilized sergals start to sexually mature when they are around 10 to 12 years old, and it is usually after the age of 13-14 that they are able to have children. They are able to distinguish between male and female, have a sense of estrus and they also engage in conscious, sexual intercourse. The pregnancy period is about twice as long as that of Sieg’s children, and depending on their nutritional status and circumstances, they have some control over how long they are pregnant and how well they grow.
- The relation between sieg and meals -
Adult Northern Sergals usually choose red Talyxians as their food. This is the same for both the Brave and Shaman clans alike. However, red Talyxians are typically strong predators, so the acquisition of their flesh is limited to clans which have been led by experienced and capable adults. Due to this, powerless children, younglings, and mature adults with no hunting abilities in Sieg clans will choose the smaller, black Talyxians such as bugs and bushy grass-like creatures which can be easily gathered as their staple food. These small animals, such as mice and moles can be caught relatively easy.
There is a reason why adults do not like to eat black Talyxians. The simplest reason is that they lack flavor and nutritional value, but there is another, more serious reason: a function of black Talyxians is that of Parasitoids. They become parasites towards other Talyxians or work as a device in order to mix different species beyond the boundaries of their intended use, or often work as an attachment in the Talyxian ecosystem. Since all Eltus races have a more-or-less Talyxian organisms inside of their internal organs and tissues naturally (similar to mitochondria found in the cells of Earth creatures), they put themselves at risk of getting a mutation if they eat a lot of these black Talyxians.
In the case of Seig sergals, the immune system, internal organs, reproductive organs, and other parts of the body may gain an adaptive mutation. Also, when the Talyxian organism occupies a large enough part of the inner body of an Eltus race, that person would find it easier to survive in the Talyxian wilds. This is because it would be more difficult for a Talyxian creature to identify the Eltus person as a non-Talyxian creature. As a result, this lowers the chance to alert and alarm wild Talyxian creatures.
Of course, these mutations and effects are not all positive. The infamous “Miasma” that causes chronic mutation is also contained in the black Talyxian organisms. Due to this, the people of the Sieg’s eyes face frontally, and their facial expression seems to be looking outward as if they are seeing something far away. They always have distinctive way of thinking that can be best described as “groupthink, hivemind and emotional resonance”. This collaborative wave of thought also makes it easier for the Talyxians to locate these eltus by resonating with each other.
Sergals which have stronger Talyxian natures may have a sensory or mental difference between people who are not as Talyxian inclined, and it often can cause a huge discord and discrepancy. However this condition can be changed by diet and relocation, living in a different place and eating better, little by little.
Red Talyxian meats are generally considered "safe" for Eltus consumption with the right preparations and measures taken. Certain parts of Red Talyxian meats carry a lethal threat towards Eltus biology. As an example close to home, when Japanese people eat puffer fish (Fugu), they have to take special precautions and skillful measures to treat the fairly limited good meaty parts and remove all the poisonous ones before consumption. It can be considered that Red Talyxians have a reversed ratio when compared to puffer fish with regards to edible/poisonous meat. (Fairly good amount of safe meat, but few deadly bits which need to be removed before consumption)
Due to the dangerous nature of these limited parts found within Red Talyxians and of their parasitical nature, they tend to be fairly lethal to an Eltus if they ingest these.
- Sieg Clan’s purpose and culture -
Sieg clans are typically a group of young Northern sergals who do not have access to formal education, parental raising, and limited diets such as having to sustain themselves on a diet of black Talyxians such as the moles and mice mentioned above in order to survive.
Generally, they live life one day at a time by either remaining in one location with their friends and allies, or by wandering around nomadically, without a clear destination or purpose. However, they still have a common goal among the group; “Become wise and strong”, “escape from the Sieg clan and end this Sieg lifestyle”, as well as “join the group of adults”.
Sieg tribe members that find a clan in which there are shamans or braves may be welcomed to join their group. However, not every Sieg are accepted.
For the braves, children who can’t follow them on their long distance journeys are considered a burden and could result in them becoming a target for predators.
For Shaman, children who have been eating black Talyxian bugs for a long period of time are considered to be the “half-Talyxian”. Such children are also a latent threat because of their resonance ability, as it may bring disaster to the community. In other words, only adults which “deserve to eat red meat” can become a part of the upper clans and most Sieg children are not applicable to this.
Sieg instinctively know that they “cannot go anywhere without becoming an adult”. They do their best to do what they can together, and when they get their hands on some red meat such as dondoko or rabbit, they will give it to the leader of the group who is generally the oldest child which the other members depend on.
According to their values, someone who is bigger, faster, smarter, or eats better is regarded as “the member who can reach great lengths” or “the member closest to becoming an adult”. Therefore, these sergals are more cherished, and the elder leader is given priority, akin to a strongest playable character within a role-playing video game. When the oldest one departs from the clan to join another, the next in line in terms of age shall take their place.
This value of “preserving the children, whilst giving the bigger and older child priority” is common sense among sergals. It is very different from the Agudners sense of “when protecting companions, we should give the highest priority to the young and the weak.”.
Because sergal cultures believe that children which have perished will reincarnate and begin again as a small child, they do not have as much fear of death and the sense of loss as more civilized races and cultures. In such situations, the children that are the most respectable, older, more capable, as well as those which have gone “outside” are the ones most likely become the one that inspires hope to the rest of the tribe and supports everyone.
