Dear friends,
This is very important and I need you to read and understand what I'm about to tell you. Yesterday, a sudden rush of emotions struck me when I prepared the posting of the last pages of Haunter of Dreams to my Patreon feed. It left me incapacitated for the majority of the day. It had me struggle to come to clear senses.
The reason for this is the core of the story and how much meaning it carries, especially in the wake of the current situation with the pandemic: the fear of the unkown overloads the feeling of hope and relief. And today, I want to open up to you about my experience.I sat down to paint this picture of Yon to find a solution for my heartache. And it wasn't without tears and breaks in between.
There is a reason why I created the story of Haunter of Dreams and why it put me through so much emotional hardship throughout the making of it. In the beginning, it was a burden on me but I learned to bond with the story, the character, so much so that I gave everything I had to give readers something timeless. It is a story about strength, hope and the fight against all fears.
Its complexity nearly reached beyond my skill to depict all of its nuances. This made it a very big journey for myself, and this is why the character has attached itself so deeply to my heart. It's a story I need to share, tofind closure for myself.
In the wake of the current situation with the pandemic, many of us are stuck at home and left worried. Taking our minds off of things is important to keep our hopes high while the mills of our society work hard to stabilise us.
For this reason, since so many of us need a glimpse of hope during this time of unrest, I feel this very deep urge to share the story of Haunter of Dreams with you for free. Facing a time of financial crisis that affects all of us, leaves many unable to buy books and entertainment.
With Haunter of Dreams, I want to give something to you that is dear to me, relieving you of the worry whether or not you could afford it.

With respect to all of my supporters on Patreon as well as everyone who has bought the physical book from my store, Haunter of Dreams will be available for free for a short time window only.

This book is one of my treasures in my library. Every panel is treated with care with delicate touches to depict a range of emotions and action sequences. You depict emotions very clearly though vivid light and color as well as solid facial expressions and body language from the small character. I've extremely happy I got a personal copy signed by you at Eurofurance and was able to meet the artist behind the book.
Thank you once again for this great book and amazing art. Please take care of yourself and your health - mental physical and spiritual. This is a scary time for many people and everyone needs to keep their heads up from the wave of panic. Just keep breathing.

*hugssssss.... you are loved Alector... I know what it is like to be so emotionally attached to a story. When writing about Sir Edwin Dunfrees, he died, and I was totally wrecked. He (a fictional character) was 105 years old, but he had become my best friend.

It is the hope we get by staying together - be it against art-theft or against threats that the media is (falsefully) pushing way too much to cause a mass-panic for almost everyone.
In times like this, the art you do, the words each of us chooses gives hope for everyone. While I am not an artist like you or someone who earns money by music, I am making DND-campaigns for friends and help them to keep bad thoughts off.
Especially at times like this our light of hope shines the brightest. Alone we are strong, but united we are way stronger. Not a small light or a flame, but a ray of light that illuminates the darkness. By knowledge, hope and staying and standing together.

This situation caused a lot of mass panic, fights, bad temper and people pushing each other away at the stores. But as this situation is now settling in, people realise that the sense of community is way stronger, more valuable, than being alone on a pile of hoarded things.
Now, people come to their senses, slowly, and begin to share. And people like you, who are putting in so much time and love into keeping groups of others distracted from the craze, are valuable to our whole society.
And if you got flour, an egg, water and salt, make your own fresh noodles. It's easy and tastes so much better. :D <3

Thank you for this. I sent a small amount because I've always wanted to read and support this story, as well as your work. But having just had a new baby finances havent been there. Your work is such an inspiration and it is wonderful to have some light during these hectic times.
I just want to express how much I deeply appreciate this. A project like this takes a lot of time and even more personal energy. That you stuck with it and completed it, and now offer it to the world in this time of need....this is a beautiful gift and I deeply appreciate everything involved in it. You show great kindness, and perhaps will spark a little extra hope in the world.
