Jade redesign and backstory
This took me WAY too long. but hey that's good because I spent lots of time figuring out her design! So it's official. Jade is a cyborg (i'm still working on a proper name for this species)
Named after the gem in her chest that serves as her main source of power (or consciousness) I am yet to describe where it came from and how Jade came to be but let's say she's not the only one of her kind.
Jade is basically indistinguishable from organic lifeforms as she has personality and feelings (or so it seems) she's not really one to talk as she's always often getting stuck into
her hobbies. but if you manage to gain her attention she can be really open. Jade is usually kind, maybe a bit too kind but if you get on her bad side she'll remind you who's in
charge as she usually likes to be the one who takes charge.
So her origin is unknown at this point but what I do know is that she Had a creator. but this gem.. where did it come from? It was an interesting piece which had strange properties.
It's clear that who or whatever created her used this gem to their advantage to fabricate a conscious machine with immense capabilities, hence why she's such a good pilot. speaking
of which Jade is a professional Anti-Gravity racing pilot who Is known and feared mostly for her aggressive racing style. It seems whoever this creater was, intended to have her be fit
perfectly for the task of becoming a champion. Wait isn't it illegal for non organic lifeforms to attend races?
As a hobby Jade experiments in developing Virtual reality tech in her spare time. Her main experiment was to create a virtual world In which anyone could visit and participate in her
virtual minigames. Though she lost interest and moved to other things in the hardware area with a focus in VR haptics and locomotion. Oh did I mention she's also a massive gamer girl?
I was aiming for a more synthwave vibe with this pic really just to show off her new design. Here's the main changes: Added elements to make her feel more cyber. A Gem being her
main source of power (or consciousness). Glowing green claws and eyes (were previously pink) 4 toes instead of 3, an overall sleeker/sharper design and reworked fur pattern.
let me know what you think of her new design! This came before the reworked 3D model (which has since been completed)

Hrmm...
If the gemstone is operating as a primary processor / CPU / seat of consciousness, it's likely not jade (mineralogically) but some form of optimized diamondoid laid out as computronium (matter optimized specifically for computing) operating as a phonon-regime optronic processor (which would allow for both three dimensional linking, low-heat computing, power efficiency, speed of processing, and flexibility), likely operating in frequency ranges most folk see as "green" in the optical spectrum.
As for machine life, well, honestly I can't see a reason why a machine wouldn't be considered alive (or more appropriately fully sapient). Personhood of AI should really never be in question.
As to the matter of being a cyborg, also reasonable, especially if the cybernetics blur the line heavily between organic and inorganic, being designed to blend naturally with the body and be integral to its' functioning, up to and including using specialized biotech and hylotech (blended cellular-scale nanotech and biotech) to self-repair, thus allowing the less-organic parts to heal and grow alongside the pure-organic components. Fair chance some or all of her long bones are diamondoid to also assist in onboard processing and storage capacity, while still maintaining porosity to allow the marrow to work properly.
