These are without a doubt some of Dexter's favorite days, when the sun is shining happily in the sky and Mother Nature's truly letting her vibrant colors fly, giving so much life and beauty to the outdoors. So it shouldn't be a surprise to find Dexy's big fuzzy self reclined against a tree in the middle of it all, sitting comfortably in a soft patch of grass while he relaxes and takes in the serenity of the environment. Occasional purrs would send soft vibrations across his chest as he took slow deep breaths, drawing in the sweet aroma of the fresh flora beaming around him while the warming rays of sunshine gave his lush fur a beautiful golden shimmer. Dexter wasn't sure how long he'd been here, not even really caring for that matter as all he wanted to do was let his mind drift peacefully, untethered through this purrfect secluded paradise he'd discovered. In a sense embracing one of Mother Nature's treasures and all of its wonderful sensations without disturbing it. But at one point, Dexter's amber gems of eyes were tracking a pair of colorful birds gliding just above the nearby narrow river's surface when his ears perked up, noticing a flurry of movement along with a patch of orange in his peripheral vision. Dexter quickly glanced over in that direction to get a clearer view of this sudden disturbance, near-instantly making out the form of a fox slowly wandering towards him through a patch of taller grass just in front of some thick shrubbery. At first, he wasn't sure if the fox had noticed him, as every few seconds the fox would brush her nose along the surface of the grass in a sniffing like manner or look from side to side. But he soon figured the fox was very much aware of his presence as for a few brief moments, the fox would pause completely and look directly at him, only to resume the careful pattern of sniffing the grass with that steady, cautious walk towards him.
Dexter found himself quite amused as he observed the fox's gradual approach, not really sure of her intentions but he chose to remain still and see what she'd do. Soon enough the fox had closed the distance to within a few feet of Dexter, stopping in a small patch of shade provided by the leaves of the tree Dexter rested against; presumably to get a better look at him without the shining sun distorting her vision. For a brief moment, she poked her nose in the grass just in front of Dexter before looking directly up at the big lion, tilting her head as those observant eyes seemed to search over what to her was a foreign visitor. Dexter still couldn't figure out why the fox had approached him, but suddenly a thought crossed his mind, almost like a cold slap to the back of his head. His previous efforts to remain as still as possible being tossed out the window as he abruptly and somewhat forcefully tapped his head back against the tree behind him out of annoyance with himself; just remembering his decision to not bring along a few small snacks before starting this outing. "Yet another example of your poor decision making, way to go Dex" He whispered to himself with an obvious flavor of self-criticism, wishing he'd brought at least something. He then let out a sigh, another shot of annoyance at himself from his sudden movement, fearing he might've accidentally scared the fox away. Especially after he figured she must have mustered up a considerable amount of courage to approach him in the first place. But looking back down he sees the fox is still there, now sitting with her head tilted in the other direction out of curiosity while staring at him. Dexter then slowly held out both of his paws in an effort to show the fox that he didn't have any sort of food on him... "Heheh sorry bud, don't have any food for you unfortunately." Dexter said in a regretful tone, knowing full well the fox couldn't understand what he was saying. But he still couldn't help feeling some sense of disappointment from the fox as his own ears drooped some. A few seconds pass before he speaks again, but this time with a warm smile and a softer more inviting tone "Though if I did, you can be sure I'd gladly share with you" his ears perking back up just as he lets his paws settle back down to his lap. The fox's head straightened up some, her ears perking up as well.
Dexter almost felt a brief brush of happiness, feeling as if she understood his good intentions; but just then, she flinched as her orange facial fur brightened rather suddenly! Her eyes narrowing as a soft breeze drifted through the area, causing the tree's leaves to move in such a way that a few brilliant sun rays briefly pierced the tree-top to shine directly onto her. Dexter was just beginning to shift around a bit, about to hop up and see if the fox was ok, but with a quick brush of her paw across her face and a little shaking motion, she seemed to be just fine. "It is super bright out today isn't it?" Dexter giggled, getting resettled as he brushed his paw through his mane that was flowing ever so slightly in that very breeze. He then took a moment to reach both of his arms straight up in a stretching motion, no longer fearing he might scare the fox away as she didn't seem to react much to any of his previous movements. In fact, as he settled back down, he noticed she wasn't paying him any attention as her gaze momentarily shifted towards the river, where that same pair of birds were still flying just above its smooth surface; letting out a few colorful chirps as they went. Dexter smirked, wondering what it'd be like to experience this place on such a beautiful day like this from an avian's perspective; just flying along with a free spirit, propelled by those majestic wings spread wide. "If only right?" Dexter said, the fox glancing back towards him with another tilt to her head out of curiosity.
A few moments passed by with Dexter both disappointed in himself for not having any food and wondering what he could offer the fox, not wanting to send her away. At one point he even considered placing his precious necklace around her neck for a while to let her enjoy it. But during these moments of contemplation, the fox interrupted his train of thought as she opened her maw rather wide to let out what seemed to be a lengthy yawn. Funnily enough, Dexter did the very same only a few seconds later as he felt one seem to build up within him without warning. Dexter then let out a slight chuckle, his tail starting to sway gently in the grass beside him as he reaches forward with a soft smile. Ever so carefully, he gives a few gentle pats to the comfortable grass in front of his legs, offering her a spot to rest next to him. The fox tilted her head again briefly before standing on all fours then approaching Dexter again. This time with a noticeable ease to her step as opposed to the cautious movements she had before. Dexter's smile grew just as she reached his paw pressed to the grass "There ya go you little fuzzball, come rest next to me and we can both enjoy this nice d..." Dexter couldn't help but let out a louder giggle as the fox, instead of resting where he wanted, flopped herself to the side of his lap almost like using his leg as a bed. "You're quite the brave one arencha?" He asks as the fox shuffled some to settles down, letting out another yawn. He gave the fox a few moments to relax before he placed a paw on her back, gently giving a few pets that soon transformed into a soft rubbing motion along her beautiful, silky smooth orange coat. Her ears at first fluttered but then soon flattened in a relaxed manner as he continued giving sot rubs. Dexter even began to hum not long after, letting his gaze drift back out to the environment he was once admiring before.
A few idle thoughts crossed his mind before he let out another soft chuckle, thinking to himself how amazing it must be for such a wide variety of wildlife to call this purrfect paradise their home. He was just about to vocalize this thought to the fox when he glanced down, noticing the fox was fast asleep. The adorable situation causing a few slight purr to rattle his chest. He figured since he didn't have any food to offer, the very least he could do is sit there for a while and let the fox enjoy a nice nap. At the very least he'd have some much-welcomed company while he took in more of the surroundings. With that, the big fuzzy cat let out a deep yet very careful sigh as he shifted ever so slightly; getting even more comfortable against the tree as he began humming the tunes of his favorite songs rather softly. And while his paw continued to rub the foxes upper back fur gently, he couldn't help but keep up a warm smile as the sun's golden rays caressed his own fur, giving him a magical sense of peace that soothed him on this gorgeous spring day...

That adorable Fox is confirming what we suspected all along, you are a soft and snuggly fluffball. You can't resist making friends wherever you go. Your pawsitivity is a magnet and even can overflow into our dreams. She certainly looks as if she's a happy and colourful one.
