Chapter 75: Meeting with Mother Nature Again
Max had no idea how long they slept; the sun was setting as he had woken up. He tried getting up, but stopped when he heard soft moans. He noticed Jenny and Sophie, nuzzling close to him and lying on each of his arms.
Instantly, the memories came flooding back to him and his cheeks blushed a bit. “Girls, wake up...” He spoke gently, caressing their hair. “No...some more...Maxie~~” Sophie replied, snuggling close to him like a girl cuddling her soft toy.
“Hey, Max...” Jessica added, smiling dreamily at him. “Thank you again for the most wonderful time of our lives...” Max smiled back. “Well, I should be thanking you.” He replied. “I’m practically the only guy in Boston High to have two girlfriends.”
“Well, get used to it, darling~~” Sophie added, smiling as she circled a finger on his chest. “We’re going to do this sort of roleplay more often~~” Max blushed again and wrapped his arms closer to the two girls. “You know,” he spoke up. “there’s still the matter of your parents and my grandparents if they find out about this...”
“Don’t worry about it, Max...” Jessica replied, kissing him on the cheek. “Let’s just enjoy the moment...” “Besides, Maxie...” Sophie added, kissing him on the other cheek. “I think the others won’t mind about this.”
“I hope so.” Max thought, as he continued to stroke their heads gently.
(Later...back in Max’s house)
“You okay, Max?” Hamato asked his grandson at dinner. “I’m fine, oji-chan...” Max mumbled, as he stretched his arms and yawned. “I was just hanging out with Jenny and Sophie.” “Oh?” Hamato asked with a wry smile. “Since when did you get so popular with the ladies?”
“Stop it now...” Shen Li added in amusement as she took an egg roll and gave it to Max. “It’s not nice to tease with affairs of the heart, right Max?” “Y-Yeah, obaa-chan.” Max replied, his cheeks red. “T-Thanks for understanding...”
“So, any plans tomorrow?” She asked. “Well, I’m planning to head to the library to check out some books.” Max explained. “Next, I’ll patrol the forest for any new patients.” His grandmother smiled. “Good to see you keeping yourself occupied.”
“Well, can you also check by Misoto’s Tea Emporium?” Hamato suggested. “He’s got some freshly made tea leaves for me.” “Sure thing, Grandpa.” Max smiled before continuing their meal.
(That night...)
Max was walking in a dense forest, the trees spread out their branches and fireflies flickered all around him. The night sky was bright with the full moon and the stars twinkled like diamonds. All around, the sounds of nocturnal creatures echoed from the chirping of crickets to the distant howls of a pack of wolves. He was wearing a loincloth around his waist and the fox medallion around his neck.
Max wasn’t frightened in the least bit, he enjoyed nightly walks in the forest. He couldn’t understand why most people are afraid of the forest at night. He loved the moonlight shining down on him, feeling its glow on his bare skin.
He could feel its light spreading throughout the forest, decorating the forest with its silvery glow and the stars reminded him of dewdrops on a spider’s web. He was so busy admiring his surroundings that he didn’t even see the large baobab tree until it was in front of him.
Just as he approached it, a thick vine trailed its way down and stopped right in front of his feet. Looking at it for a moment, he grasped it tightly while it wrapped itself around his left foot. Slowly, it lifted him off the ground and raised him up to the tree top like a sort of elevator.
When he got to the top of the tree, he found himself inside it; the moon’s silverly light shining through the leaves and fireflies fluttering about. At the center of it was Mother Nature herself, still as beautiful as ever and wearing her roman toga dress.
“Hello, my champion.” She greeted with a warm smile. “It’s good to see you again, Mother Nature.” Max replied, smiling back. “When was the last time you visited me?” “Sorry about that.” Mother Nature apologized. “I’ve been so busy with my duties...but I am here now.”
She summoned a small shrub and formed it into a chair for Max to sit. “I have seen how well you are adapting to your new powers,” She added. “and I’ve seen how you and your friends are becoming quite the heroes lately...”
Max blushed a bit. “Thank you, Mother...” He replied. “I’m always grateful for having friends like them.” Mother Nature giggled. “Well, it seems you, Jessica and that other girl, Sophie have gotten even closer than ever~~” She added, with a wry smile.
Max turned red with embarrassment. “Well...” He mumbled. “I can explain...” Mother Nature giggled again but soon gave a worried expression. “Either way, I have heard that you have been having a run in with Arthor and Grendel.”
Max went grim. “Yes,” he replied. “they tried to kill me, but me and my friends destroyed them.” Mother Nature shook her head. “I’m afraid not, my child.” She said sadly. “They were born from the Devourer’s essence itself, you may have destroyed their bodies but their spirits will return back to their master to be reborn again.”
“You mean the Devourer will just revive them again?” Max sighed. “Yes,” Mother Nature replied. “and I fear that he will summon more monsters to destroy you.” “You must be careful, my child.” She added worriedly. “The Devourer is cunning as he is powerful, there is no telling what he has planned or when he will strike.”
“I know, Mother Nature.” Max replied. “The best I can do is prepare for when it happens.” “That’s all I can ask you, my child.” Mother Nature assured him. “However, I believe that you will need help in combating this darkness.” “Help?” Max asked.
“I believe my children, the Elements of Nature can help you.” She added. “They have helped Tantu and the Guardian Beasts with their fight against the Devourer and they will help you too.”
“The Elements of Nature?” Max asked. Mother Nature nodded. “They are as ageless as I am, and have watched over the wilds since the dawn of time.” “How will I find them?” Max asked. Mother Nature smiled at him mysteriously. “You won’t have too, my child” She replied. “They will find you....”
(Dream end...)
Max sat up in bed, Mother Nature’s words still echoing in his head. “The Elements of Nature?” He wondered. “How can they help me?” He looked out of his window, the moon up in the sky. “I need to ask the others about this...” He decided, before laying back on his bed and falling asleep.
