For the most part, Aubrey’s interactions with others boiled down to a pointed finger, an exchange of coins, and a happy customer. With time, she had grown to appreciate this way of things and her relatively small shop had garnered a reputation for producing and procuring exceptional armaments. Most of her clientele had no clue that not only her wares, but the wares of most high-end armories across the land all came right from her tiny pink hands.
With her latest customer gone, she looked down at her list of the day’s appointments with a curious eye. A yordle’s age was hard to judge by appearance alone even for other yordles, but she seemed to be on the older side despite her soft mousy features and silky pink fur. Her long white braids, cleanly kept and cut a bit past her shoulders, were flanked by broad, pointed ears which had each accumulated their fair share of notches and nicks over her long lifetime. Most were accidental, apart from one intentional piercing in her right ear to fit a jagged earring of bone that served nicely to complement the large beastly tusks that adorned her worn leather helm.
Though she may have had the air of a kindly grandmother about her, she crafted arcane wares to rival the god of the forge himself (who may have been her close personal friend and mentor ages ago.) What got her the furthest in her storied life was an especially attentive and discerning eye for the things and people around her. She wouldn’t recognize most who came and went through her doors five minutes after the fact, it was her bigger name customers that she enjoyed paying more attention to and going the extra mile for. These moments often presented unique opportunities to learn and further perfect her craft. For instance, it was subtly helping Garen Crownguard to decide upon a special dagger for his crush that got her a better look at his petricite infused broadsword, something that most smiths could go their entire lives without ever coming across.
Aubrey’s latest project to ‘help’ a client was a little less pure than usual for her, but it was well intentioned all the same. She had a feeling it would really help them more than most, strange as it was, and that’s all the justification that she needed. Carefully, she pulled a curio out from under the countertop, looking over the round protrusion for any flaws in how it had set, content with the large faceplate’s surface. Physically, it was ready for use but there was more than just its physical form to inspect. She pulled out a device that looked similar to a jeweler’s loupe and examined the enchantment she had placed upon the item, grinning when she saw the rune’s integrity had held on the new substance. With a confident smile, she placed it back in its hiding place and looked to the door.
The door swung inwards on cue, and in came a stout blue hero sporting a hammer slung across her back so utterly enormous that it dwarfed even her pigtails’ pronounced poofiness. Aubrey took note of how all her clients carried themselves, it was a good indicator of their self-perception and how to best see to their needs. For Poppy, this had changed recently. Still the ever-modest questing hero, she didn’t walk too boldly, but nowadays it was a stretch to call her movement walking.
Poppy waddled across the store, a wide gait to her step thanks to the bulk between her legs that she, mistakenly, believed was entirely concealed by her gambeson style armor. Her style of engaging with others already had her making larger movements, and engaging with people who had to look down rather than at her directly made it VERY hard to see anything amiss below the belt.
Aubrey practically saw right through Poppy’s leather shorts the moment she first walked into her store diapered, blinking in bewilderment as she tried to understand the bulky padding underneath Poppy’s armor. While Aubrey hadn’t addressed it directly the first few times, how red Poppy got when asked if she had ‘new armor’ did not escape her notice.
“Well well, Poppy! What’s the littlest hero with the biggest heart doing around these parts again so soon? Thought you said you were headin’ back to Demacia fer a while, and here y’are not two days later!” Aubrey laid it on thicker than usual for old friends like Poppy. The two had done business here and there for quite some time, both being on the more exploratory side of yordledom.
This small poke was enough to ignite Poppy’s cheeks, making her bite her lip a little as she avoided eye contact with Aubrey. “W-well, I sorta have a lead on a possible hero in the area, and stuff, so I’m kinda staking it out to see if I can meet him. Y-yknow? Hero quest and all…” She said with a nervous chuckle, looking at Aubrey while gesturing to the hammer on her back.
Aubrey slowly nodded back at Poppy and hopped off her stool, meandering around the counter towards Poppy with her hands joined behind her back. “Oh yes yes, travelin’ round, helpin’ folk where you can, searchin for the hero destined to wield that mighty hammer of yers… so, iffin yer lookin’ for the hero in these parts, what brings you back to my humble shop?” Aubrey stopped right in front of Poppy, less than a foot away from her with a gentle smile.``Think I might have a lead, or, were you lookin’ fer somethin else?” she asked, leaning a little closer on the last word.
Poppy gulped nervously seeing how close Aubrey was getting to her. Her eyes widened as they darted around looking for something to use as an excuse. Her frantic search was cut short by a sudden tap from Aubrey’s hand on her shoulder, eliciting a startled flinch from the hammer keeper. Aubrey slipped behind the heroic yordle, unfastening the strap attaching the oversized hammer to the tiny girl’s back in one practiced movement. The hammer fell its short distance to the wooden planks beneath them with an unceremonious thud. With her counterweight suddenly missing, Poppy stumbled forwards, waving her arms in a last ditch effort to regain her balance before tumbling forth, rolling into one of the heavy sets of curio shelves in the shop, coming to rest with her thickly padded behind raised up towards her hostess.
While her small staturet prevented her from knocking the shelving over, the impact was enough to cause a few items to fall down around her. Poppy groaned as she pushed herself up to her hands and knees, collecting her bearings for a moment before checking what landed beside her. There was a set of very well padded mittens, light blue with what looked like straps around the wrist to secure them in place. Alongside that was a moderately sized bib, golden with orange trim and orange strings coming off of it, looking soft, warm, and ready to be tied onto the wearer. While the first two items made Poppy flush at the implications, the third one she didn’t quite recognise as she reached out to pick it up. It was a colorfully painted rounded metal cylinder with several star-shaped holes cut into its surface, fixed at the end of a short metal rod. When Poppy picked it up, she disturbed whatever was inside the end container, causing the rattle to reveal its purpose, making poppy drop it quickly as if burnt by the realization.
“Oh my, I guess walkin’ can be hard sometimes, sorry ‘bout that dear.” Aubrey joked as she extended a hand to help Poppy up.
“Er, it’s alright, thanks” Poppy said with a bashful smile, looking back at the confusing wares on the ground.
“See somethin’ ya want?” Aubrey asked innocently, causing Poppy’s attention to snap back to Aubrey in confusion and embarrassment, stammering for an answer.
“Wh- I-I, N-no I just, I- I wouldn’t want-!” She couldn’t put more than two words together before Aubrey chuckled and picked up the items.
“Iceborn mittens, made fer rootin around in the snow, don’ need much dexterity fer that stuff.” she said placing the average looking mittens back on their spot. “Sun-blessed squire’s pommel cloth. Helps re-sanctify Solari stuff, easy to tie onto scabbards and whatnot.” Aubrey explained, making Poppy feel gradually more silly as she watched Aubrey handle the rattle.
“A-and that one? Some sorta, magic charm, or special mace?” Poppy guessed.
“This one? Oh it’s just a custom made rattle someone never picked up. Only thing bout it is that it's made to help sooth little ones with its sound.” she said with a hearty laugh. Aubrey shook the rattle vigorously, making a pleasant jingling of bells from it as she did so. Poppy’s eyes lingered on it as it found its place back on the shelves with the rest before looking at Aubrey as she walked back to her counter.
“So, what can I do fer you? Armor looks fine, hammer’s in ship shape, did ya just wanna poke around and see little ol’ me?” Aubrey offered, pulling out what would be a step-stool for most, but made a handy seat for yordles.
Poppy waddled over, trying to squeeze her padding closed as much as possible, shyly sitting on the stool with a soft crinkle. “W-well, sorta. I um, I’ve kinda had problems lately, and thought, maybe you had something that could help…I’ve had a rough time sleeping lately…” Poppy admitted, rubbing the back of her neck as she looked at her friend, embarrassed to admit it. “I’ve tried a couple different teas, stretches, meditation, I just can’t calm down to sleep half the time, thought maybe you have some sort of amulet, or special bracelet or, or, somethi-”
Poppy was cut off wordlessly by the matronly yordle sliding her hand under the countertop with a wide smile, and pulling out the object she had just so happened to be working on. “Got just the thing fer ya, made special with some materials I’ve been wantin’ to use fer somethin. Y’see, the bulb is made of this rubber-like substance, it even grows a li’l when it gets wet from saliva to better fit in the mouth. That parts attached to this faceplate, made nice and big so that it won’t accidentally go inside anyone’s mouth, ya suck on it and it’s meant to calm ya down and help ya focus. I put this handy li’l ring on the outside too, that way it’s easier to attach to yer gear, or you kin attach it to yer pajamas, so if it falls out while yer sleepin, you don’t lose it! Whatcha think?”
Aubrey had made a pacifier.
Mind you, a fancy, highly durable, enchanted pacifier meant for adults, but a pacifier all the same. At its core it was still the simple suckable device made to help infants calm down and sleep, and she was proposing with a wide, helpful, caring smile, that Poppy of all people suck on it like the big baby that she seemingly was. Poppy was at a loss for words, her mouth hanging open, cheeks flushed as she looked back and forth from the object to its engineer flabbergasted.
“Y-you… made me a-”
“Well ah didn’t make it fer you specifically, silly. Just worked out that you’re havin’ the issue ah made this t’help people with. You came just in the nick of time too, it’s one of the things ah needed someone I could trust to help me test out.” Aubrey explained, picking up the pacifier, twirling it around on her finger by its ring.
Poppy’s cheeks puffed out a little in a pout, feeling that her friend was glossing over her concerns. “B-but, still it’s a-... i-it’s for…” she trailed off, part of her afraid to say the word, as if it would open a forbidden box she could never close again.
Aubrey was well aware of what her friend was going through at the moment, but wasn’t about to give Poppy an easy way out of the admission. “It’s a sleep aid, ah looked into how different places handle this sort of thing, even had to wrassle with a few of my connections t’get the materials I wanted fer it so it’d be the right size, shape, and stuff. Just give it a try, it ain’t gonna bite ya or nuthin.”
Like a shy child, Poppy averted her gaze away from Aubrey once more, gently folding her arms as she did so. The experienced hero-hunter shifted on her stool slightly, the thick diaper she had willingly put on this morning cushioning her from the hard surface of her seat but doing nothing to help with the discomfort of the situation. Thoughts of how Aubrey would react to what she was wearing crossed her mind, followed by how a hero would react to some big baby offering them a ‘legendary hammer,’ there was no other answer. Sure, they were comfy and she liked the way they made her feel, but this situation showed her the truth of the matter, she had to grow up.
Poppy turned back to face Aubrey and opened her mouth, determined to turn her friend down,
only to have a large rubbery bulb popped into her mouth before she could make a sound.
“Oh quit bein’ such a baby, Poppy. It’s just a short test, nothin’ t’worry ‘bout” Aubrey reassured the girl, holding the guard firmly in her mouth as it gently glowed for a moment before releasing it.
Immediately Poppy’s heart raced, feeling the large bulb grow slick from her tongue’s saliva as it tried to repel the intruder and spit it out. For some reason unknown to the girl, Poppy’s mouth betrayed her, her eyes widening as she felt herself gently start to nurse on the oversized nipple, sucking slowly on it as if by reflex. For a few seconds, she tried to just push at it with her tongue, feeling the bulb expand as she did so, forming itself to fill her mouth as if it were molded for it. Panicking a little, she reached up and tried tugging on the ring but found it a fruitless effort. As she sucked more on the bulb, it had grown to be too large for her to simply pull out. She was helpless to escape this symbol of babyhood being firmly lodged in her mouth, broadcasting her secret shame to anyone who happened to look her way.
Curiously, she didn’t find this train of thought throwing her into the pit of despair like she might have expected it to. As she rhythmically suckled on the pacifier, she found the object living up to its name just as well on her as one would expect for a confused infant. Already, the initial shock had worn off, and the bulb’s now comfortable fit assuaged any worries she had of choking from it. The thought of how Aubrey may react, or how silly she may look with it was miles away as she looked down her nose to the round faceplate slowly bobbing in and out from her mouth.
More than anything, it felt a lot more natural than she had expected. Having been properly pacified, Poppy peered up at Aubrey, who wore a gentle smile towards her friend. Poppy had no idea how much of the pacifier’s effects were intended by the creator as opposed to being a result of her own preferences, but at this point there wasn’t much she could do until Aubrey was satisfied with the test, so she might as well enjoy the harmless fun as best as she could.
“Well well, looks like it’s doin the trick even better than ah expected. Yknow, while ah have you tryin out stuff, you wouldn’t mind tryin on a few more items would ya?” Aubrey asked with a slight smirk, clearly aware of how little Poppy could speak out about the proposition.
All the same Poppy considered it for a moment, watching her friend while she suckled away on her pacifier before nodding at her with a beaming smile. No reason not to at this point.
“Well then, let’s see about makin you a bit comfier, then.” Aubrey stepped behind her friend, working her way through all the buckles and ties holding her armor onto her and removing the weight from Poppy’s shoulders, leaving only her plain undershirt, pants, and the now obvious undergarment ballooning out underneath them.
Even with the pacifying effects of her binky, Poppy blushed and felt a little nervous that her diaper was practically exposed, hardly hidden at all by the thin fabric of her pants that now stretched along her padding’s contours. “Shh, don’t you worry, ah knew all along. Gotta keep a close eye on my clients after all.” Aubrey explained in a hushed tone, giving her friend’s forehead an affectionate peck before she tousled her hair with a giggle. “Cmon now.”
With the heavy lifting done, Aubrey took poppy’s hand tenderly, leading the waddling yordle to the rugged area in the center off all of the shelves. Poppy suckled a bit harder on the paci at this revelation, still following Aubrey’s lead with the utmost trust in her dear friend. When the two were in the middle of the rug, Aubrey gave Poppy a small push backwards, sending her toppling over onto her crinkly tush and back. Giggling as she watched Poppy tumble backwards, she took the bottom of the girl’s pant legs and yanked them off, exposing the soft mass neatly pinned around her waist to the world, tossing the pants aside.
“Yknow darlin, you look even more adorable like that than ah’d imagined.” Aubrey confessed with a soft blush of her own, giggling as she hopped away to one of the shelves, leaving Poppy a moment to gain her mental bearings. Not a minute ago she thought her little secret was properly concealed, only to find now that not only was it obvious to her friend, but it was something Aubrey had considered a good thing? While the instrument she sucked on naturally helped her stay calm through this, it still was a lot to take in. Poppy already trusted Aubrey more than most, so she accepted the current state of affairs, nursing away as she laid quietly on her back for Aubrey’s return.
“Now this set, ah made intendin for them to be sorta, restraints… but ah think they’ll do the trick here” she explained, approaching Poppy from her feet, now lacking her helmet and looking all the gentler for it. One hand took the baby’s ankle, while the other swiftly pulled a well-padded pastel blue bootie over her foot, the folded ankle cuff of which tightened after it was on all the way to ensure it didn’t fall off on its own. “Ah call em, Boots of Immobility, but not fer the reason ah initially intended.” Aubrey explained, pulling the second one over Poppy’s other foot as a dim glow washed over them both before quickly fading away..
Aubrey’s face curled into a slightly embarrassed smile as she plodded her way around her carpet-bound charge. “A-ah tried em on a bit myself, t’make sure they won’t actually hurt or nuthin, and uh, they DO lower mobility… not quite the way ah intended though.” At this point Poppy found her feet feeling comfortably warm and the thick inner layer of fuzzy fur-like material of the booties pressing against her skin, as if to ensure that she felt them fully at every moment. With such a soft and unstable surface beneath her feet, it would likely be quite the struggle to maintain balance while standing in them, even if she didn’t also have her thick diaper between her legs.
Poppy found herself pulled up into a sitting position between Aubrey’s legs, while she took one of the less-alert Yordle’s hands and slipped a familiar looking equally-thick padded blue mitten over it, a similar cinching around the wrist occurring when the fingerless mass of soft padded cloth was fully over her hand. “Then, the other part of the set, ah may have fibbed about these earlier… Equally, ah made em to well… induce, er, clumsiness…” Aubrey muttered, feeling gradually more silly admitting to using her advanced knowledge of craft and the arcane to create enchanted bondage equipment.
When both mittens were secured on Poppy’s paws, she felt her fingers encased in the same warm, fuzzy material as the booties. Her hands felt quite strange now, they moved as if she had never used them before but she felt so comfortable and relaxed that it was hard to see it as anything but positive. With a bit of effort and a lot of concentration to coordinate it, she clapped her mittened hands together after only a half dozen failed attempts, looking up to Aubrey beaming with a bright smile of pride from her accomplishment.
The sight made Aubrey’s heart skip a beat as she felt a wide goofy smile spread across her face. “With how ah made those, that’s mighty impressive! Good job!” she praised Poppy, patting her on the head. “Ah’ve gotta admit… when ah first saw your er… dahpers, it seemed sorta silly… but, with how cute they made you look, ah found mahself warmin up to the idea… “ she whispered.
“So ah thought, maybe, ah could make a couple things… and we could enjoy this together… er, not all the time, just whenever yer around these parts, if you’d wanna…” Aubrey proposed with growing trepidation as she spoke, this clearly meaning a lot to her. “O-Oh, ah almos’ fergot!” she added, taking the pacifier by the ring and pulling it out easily with a pop, the bulb apparently no longer making itself immovable, leaving poppy’s mouth hanging open as she stared up at Aubrey, a small line of drool leaving her mouth.
There was a momentary pause as Poppy shifted a little between Aubrey’s legs, wiggling her legs and arms a little in their comfortable fuzzy prisons. Although she hadn’t put herself in this position intentionally, there wasn’t an inch of her body that wasn’t more content than she had felt in quite some time. Even her silly, bulky, big baby diapers felt somehow softer in her friend’s soothing embrace. The decision was clear to her, Poppy giggled and smiled at Aubrey. “I’d wike dat a wot!” she lisped excitedly, spittle loosing from her slightly numb lips. Immediately hearing herself, she clasped her hands over her mouth in embarrassment, looking again to Aubrey as the two exchanged a giggle over how silly the little yordle sounded.
“Well then, ah got one more item ah fixed up fer mah little hero, howsabout we git yer tummy filled up ‘fore settin you down for a nap?” Aubrey offered with a content smile, pulling out a baby bottle that started filling itself with milk as a blue glow enveloped it
“Souns gud Auby.” Poppy managed, accepting the pre-warmed nipple into her mouth and enjoying this weight off her shoulders. There was no doubt that she had come to love questing, lugging around that oversized hammer, and hunting for its rightful hero. But every hero needs a break now and then, even the littlest ones.
