After the death of his parents, being cast out of his village and not being welcomed anywhere due to his powers, Zuma suffers great bouts of depression. Even though the ghosts of his parents, other specters and undead have tried to help him, he's always been down on himself and felt alone. Once Chronos brought Zuma to the Shadow Lands and made him a Lord, Vailen and Godfrey were quick to befriend him. For hundreds of years they looked out for him and cheered him up whenever his depression starts to kick in and not make him feel lonely anymore.
