I did another one-layer mouse painting but I can't call it a speedpaint because I spent all day on it.

Yeah i'd probably agree. I find pixels very difficult if not mainly because even zoomed at like 200% my pen will place the pixel like in every spot except where i'm trying to make it go in CSP. Frustrating enough to make me not want to do pixel work at all lol. Looking into maybe Aseprite for any future pixel endeavors since CSP just aggravates me for that kind of work.
really great work on this tho, swell stuff.

I use GraphicsGale for all my pixel stuff. Used to cost money but now it's free. Definitely a better fit for that medium than painting software. I haven't tried using it with a tablet though, all my pixel art is done with a mouse.
FWIW I have nothing good to say about CSP. I paid for it fully, found its one-time licensing confusing, got a bunch of subtle but noticeable input lag when using my wacom with it, and since then they've only made weirder and worse business decisions. Never going back to that well.

Oh I might look into that!
CSP has a ton of cool pixel brushes I've found fun to use in the past, I just find it difficult because the pen tip doesn't exactly go where I want and there's no like, grid guide for individual pixels. And due to the exact nature of pixel art, that's what is tough for me. Paralax I guess is the issue? But its really just impatience on my part. I never do anything with a mouse haha.
Other than pixel work, which is mostly a me issue, I can't say I agree with you about CSP.
I've tried pretty much every program and CSP is the absolute king best program i've ever used. I regret using any other program for as long as I did haha. I was a former SAI user.
I would never pay a subscription for any service, but despite the intentional confusing nature of their new service, nothing has actually changed. You can make a one time purchase and use it indefinitely. And when they eventually reach a new .0, I think it'll be 2 or 3 or something, you can buy the perpetual licenses for those too they specified.
They just want people to not know that because they want funding. I've no use for experimental features and live program updates tho so... I don't need another bill. So I stick with my one time purchase.
I only experience lag with complex functions like certain blending or warping tools but only past a certain size of brush. I work on obnoxiously large canvases tho. I've never used a program that didn't have this same issue tho so I can't really say its a CSP issue, rather a computer one I guess? It's been consistent through my entire artist journey through different programs, different tablets, and different computers. Lag just seems to be something that I eventually run into if I push too much demand on my tools.
