AUTHOR’S NOTE:
This is not a fetish story. It is a story meant to tell the tale of a pony with disabilities who struggles with how he is perceived by others as a result of being no bigger than a young colt, , having incontinence, underdeveloped legs, and a speech impediment.
CHAPTER 6:
“Hey,” said Pinkie. “What if I were to help you feel good about being Shining Ash again?”
Swaddle Puff sighed as he trotted towards his crib.
“Whoot’s the point?” he asked while pulling himself up onto the mattress. “It’s nots as if it’ll do any good.”
“What if I could get Lemon Lime to come see you again?” persisted Pinkie.
Swaddle Puff thought for a moment.
“Forgets it,” he replied with a huff as he crossed his hooves over his chest. “There’s no ways Lemon Lime woulds ever want to see a forever foal like me.”
“But what if she did want to see you?” Pinkie continued to encourage with a smile on her face. “Do you think you still have some Shining Ash left for a special party with your very special some pony?”
“Yous don’ts gets it!” Swaddle Puff snapped. “I tolds her that she deserves better thans some worthless pony whose never getting’ out of diapers. I tolds her I was moving away and nevers coming back to Fillydelphia!”
Pinkie tilted her head and winked.
“But…,” she started to say. “If I could get Lemon Lime to come for a special party in honor of Shining Ash, would you come to the party so Lemon Lime and other ponies could see that you are more than just a stallion trapped in a foal’s body?”
Swaddle Puff scowled towards the insistent, perky, pink, party pony.
“If I says yes,” he replied. “Woulds you leaves me alone when no pony shows up to meet a pony whose been long since dead to me?”
Pinkie started going about the motions of her Pinkie Promise.
“Cross my heart and hope to fly!” she said cheerfully. “Stick a cupcake in my eye!”
GALLOP-GALLOP
SHOOF!
Swaddle Puff was astounded to see how quickly Pinkie ran for the door, dove towards it, and somehow slipped herself underneath it like she was a piece of paper.
“So that’s hows she dids it,” he said to himself with disbelief. “But it’ll take more than some silly tricks to bring back Shining Ash.”
***
Pinkie eagerly entered into her secret, party planning cave that was located in the basement of Sugar Cube Corner. It was here that she kept all the information she ever learned about every creature she had come in contact with since moving to Ponyville along with during all her adventures with all her friends.
“Ah-ha!” she triumphantly called out upon finding a folder that was labelled with Lemon Lime’s name. “I knew that name sounded familiar.”
***
The next part of Pinkie’s plan involved Swaddle Puff’s parents.
“You want to throw a party in honor of Shining Ash?” inquired Sandy Puff. “You do understand that we changed our last name to Puff for a reason.”
Pinkie offered a cupcake to Swaddle Puff’s mom.
“I did my research,” she replied confidently with a warm smile on her face. “You all used to live in Fillydelphia until things at the accounting firm went bad as a result of what happened to your son along with how the economy took a turn for the worse and your company had to close its doors. You then moved from city-to-city in search of work until you found a new job working as the treasurer for Mayor Mare.”
“…,” Sandy was at a loss for words.
“How do you know all that?” asked Cream Puff. “Did our son tell you?”
“No,” she replied simply. “One of your son’s friends who really cares about Shining Ash told me.”
“And who might that be?” the red-coated mare asked.
Pinkie Pie tilted her head and gave a beaming smile.
“Lemon Lime,” she replied.
“Lemon Lime?” questioned Cream Puff. “Do you mean to tell me that you went all the way to Fillydelphia to talk with our son’s special some pony?”
“Oh, no,” stated Pinkie with a bounce. “Lemon Lime lives in a town very near to here called Bridlewood.”
“…,” both parents didn’t seem to know what to say as they gasped with surprise.
“So…,” Pinkie encouragingly said while leaning in closer to Sandy and Cream Puff. “What do you guys think of throwing a little reunion party for Shining Ash?”
“How much did you tell Lemon Lime?” inquired Sandy as she ran a hoof through her thick, black mane.
“Just that I was looking to throw a party for Shining Ash and how I heard they might be friends,” she replied.
“And what did she say?” Cream Puff asked.
Pinkie happily ran herself around in a circle.
“She was super-duper excited!” she cheered. “She said that she’d been looking for Shining Ash ever since everyone got let go at the accounting firm. She wants to tell him how she feels and how she is sorry that she didn’t say what she should’ve said when you all left Fillydelphia and changed your names.”
“Puff was my last name,” the powder-blue colored stallion stated. “We took Sandy’s last name when we got married.”
“That’s right,” Sandy added. “My family name is easily identifiable due to how I come from a family of soap makers from Mount Vahovius.”
“Us Puffs are known for our strength,” Cream stated. “Unfortunately, despite being strong, I was born with a condition that has been gradually taking away my eyesight.”
“My OCD is why I couldn’t stay with my family,” Sandy added. “My obsessive and compulsive actions were too much for me to feel comfortable in a crowded factory that was always making noise and could never be kept as clean and organized as I wanted it to be.”
“We felt so terrible when we found out our son had been born with so many disabilities,” stated Cream Puff. “We both had hoped that he’d not have to struggle like his mom and I had to.”
“That’s why we allowed our son to rename himself Swaddle,” said Sandy. “If every creature was going to treat him like a foal, he might as well just play the part and not be put down for being a stallion trapped in a foal’s body.”
Cream Puff sighed.
“Celestia knows I get put down a lot for how I can barely see in front of my own hooves,” he said.
“That explains all the bumpers and nightlights in your house,” Pinkie Pie stated. “And I bet the reason your house is so clean and organized is because of Sandy ensuring the safety and well-being of you and Shining.”
“Some creatures may not think a nearly blind pony and one who is so particular would make for good parents,” Sandy said. “However, I believe our respective disabilities helped us both be able to live happily together, support our Shining Ash, and get to where we are today.”
“I agree!” Pinkie replied with a merry bounce. “I’m quite different from my parents and sisters, but I found a place and lots of friends by just being me here in Ponyville.”
“Our son was right to ask for you to play the role of his foal sitter,” Sandy stated. “After all this time, no creature has been able to get him to open up about his true self and encourage him to find happiness despite his shortcomings.”
“Does this mean we are good to throw him a party?” Pinkie asked while making a pleading face. “Pretty please with sprinkles on top.”
“I say we do it!” proclaimed Cream Puff.
“Alright,” added Sandy. “However, there are a few things I want to discuss with you first.”
CHAPTER 7:
Swaddle Puff was in his modified stroller within his room dressed in the same clothing that he once proudly wore to work before he had given up on ever being seen as the stallion he truly was.
“I’s don’t knows abouts this,” he anxiously said.
“Trust me,” said Pinkie as she opened the door out into the hallway. “You’re going to be smiling from ear-to-ear once you get out into the living room to see every pony who has come to welcome you to Ponyville.”
Swaddle Puff sighed.
“Let’s just gets this over with,” he stated while working the stroller out of his room.
***
“Where’s every pony?” wondered Swaddle Puff upon wheeling himself into the empty living room.
“Right here,” a gentle voice stated as a yellow-coated mare with a green mane trotted into the room.
“La…,” gasped Swaddle Puff. “Lemon Lime?”
The mare smiled.
“It’s me,” she replied while walking closer to where the baby-pink colored pony was positioned in his stroller. “It’s nice to finally see you again, Ash.”
Swaddle Puff began to blush.
“I, I, I…,” he tried to say as he noticed how genuinely delighted Lemon Lime seemed to be to see him.
“It’s okay, Ash,” she said before taking a hoof and rubbing at the baby-blue colored kiss curl of hair that stuck out from his head. “You should know that Bit Short got what was coming to him for what he did to you.”
“What’s do yous mean?” he asked.
“Let’s just say that word spread pretty quickly on how he and others thought it was a good idea to bully you over your disabilities,” she said. “The accounting firms in Fillydelphia that made it through the economic downturn all wouldn’t hire him upon having got word of how he was not a real team player.”
“Ands yous knows this how?” he questioned with curiosity.
Lemon Lime smiled.
“Because he thought that he and I had something going that was more than friends,” she replied. “He thought I could help him find a job and give him a good reference when, in fact, my heart belonged to some pony else.”
“Who’s that?” Swaddle Puff asked without giving her statement a whole lot of thought.
The yellow-coated pony lightly chuckled.
“You, silly,” she stated. “I love you, Shining Ash.”
***
Pinkie, Cream, and Sandy were listening to the reunion from a nearby room.
“It sounds like everything is going super awesome,” whispered Pinkie in as calm of an excited voice as she could.
Sandy felt herself smile from ear-to-ear for the first time in a very long time.
“I still can’t believe that Lemon Lime agreed to come here for our Shining Ash,” she said while she started to feel tears of joy forming in her eyes. “I’m just so, so happy for our son.”
Cream Puff started to feel tears forming in his eyes, too. “I wanted to see our son be happy before I lost the rest of my eyesight and, well, I think we’re seeing it right now.”
Cream and Sandy embraced each other closely and shed tears of joy.
“My job here is done,” said Pinkie with pride. “At least until its time to throw some pony a really big, birthday bash.”
EPILOGUE:
Lemon Lime and Shining Ash quickly picked up where they had left off before all the drama happened at the accounting firm they worked for. It wasn’t long before the two decided to start their own business where they could work from home while helping the ponies of Ponyville with all their tax, payroll, and accounting needs.
***
It wasn’t long after starting their home business that Shining Ash and Lemon Lime got married. Pinkie Pie made sure to throw the biggest party she possibly could in honor of the couple she helped to reunite. Soon after, Pinkie got the honor of planning their baby shower to help the couple prepare for the new foal they were expecting.
***
Some time passed before Pinkie Pie, Shining Ash, and Lemon Lime came to see each other again. However, when they did, it was with great joy that the couple introduced their foal son, Rising Star.
“I’m betting all that foal furniture you had in your room is coming in handy,” said Pinkie as she sat in a booth at Sugar Cube Corner with the family.
“That and everything you and all your friends brought to our baby shower,” Lemon Lime added.
Shining Ash, who was half the size of his wife and twice the size of his son, smiled.
“Yous really came through for me,” he stated. “I’s never thoughts I’s find happiness with any pony and woulds be stuck living alone forevers playing the foal with muh parents.”
“How are your parents doing?” asked Pinkie.
“They’s great,” replied Shining Ash. “They mades friends with Derpy Hooves and started doing presentations across Equestria to shows how disabilities don’ts define who’s and what’s you are and can do.”
Pinkie grinned up towards the sun-yellow colored foal who had a midnight-blue colored mane and tail.
“And how’s this little guy?” asked Pinkie before making a silly face towards the foal in the highchair.
“Living up to his name,” replied Lemon Lime before scooping up a spoonful of applesauce to feed their little one. “He’s a true rising star.”
“Yous knows what’s really great?” Shining Ash more stated than asked. “The doc says our foal is healthy and won’ts have any of the troubles that I gots.”
Lemon Lime leaned into her husband and nuzzled her cheek against his.
“You were never any trouble,” she said with sincerity. “And, even if Rising Star did have any disabilities, I know that he’d be thankful to have you as his father.”
Shining Ash blushed.
“Yous always been a sweetheart,” he replied.
“So…,” Pinkie said in a way to build a little suspense. “What’s next for you three?”
Shining Ash took a sip from his milkshake and smiled.
“It’s the slow times for ours business,” he stated. “So, to makes goods use of the time, Lemon, Rising, and I ares going to takes parts in muh parents presentations.”
“We thought showing how a disabled family could be both happy and successful would be helpful for raising even more awareness,” Lemon Lime added.
“Ooh!” awed Pinkie. “Do you have a theme for your presentation?”
“Yes,” replied Shining Ash. “Coping with limitations throughs friendship.”
Pinkie giggled.
“Well,” she said with a grin. “Friendship is magic.”
“That it is,” said Lemon Lime while she spooned more applesauce into Rising Star’s mouth. “ Seeing some creature as your friend instead of for their disabilities can really make a difference.”
“That’s right!” added Shining Ash. “Just likes yous and yous friends, we are goings to makes a big difference ins Equestria!”
“That’s so amazing!” cheered Pinkie. “I can’t wait to see your presentation and cheer you all on for doing what you’re doing!”
“You’re in luck,” said Lemon Lime. “Our first shared presentation with Ash’s parents and Derpy Hooves is right here in Ponyville this Saturday.”
“Oh, oh, oh!” gasped Pinkie as she jumped out of her seat. “I’ve got to go let every creature know right away!”
ZIP-SHOOM!
Pinkie disappeared in a blur that caused the manes of Shining Ash, Lemon Lime, and Rising Star to briefly rise into the air.
“That’s Pinkie,” laughed Shining Ash. “Always eager to helps out every creature.”
