Azurea couldn't sleep. No matter how curled up under her mate's wing she got, pressed up against his side and chest and feeling him breath calmly against her, she just couldn't. She rolled up onto her feet, sneaking out from under his black webbing and slinking around to his head. She shook her body out, wings opened slightly before gently putting her nose into his white mane and trailing her muzzle along his cheek. His lips curled a little up, but he did not stir from his dreaming, his mouth mumbling on its own accord which made her laugh silently in her throat. She watched him for a long time, taking in his scales and muscles, still powerful but relaxed. His body was like lying with fire, hot to the touch, caressing her scales with his large claws and...
She shook her head a few times, making her breathing calm before craning her neck up to look somewhere else for the time being. That definitely was not helping her become fatigued, and worse yet, she felt her entire body flush with heat. She shook herself from muzzle to tufted tail, groaning to herself before vacating the treasury chamber.
As she traveled towards the entrance to the great cave, she heard the familiar tapping of rain echoing towards her. The scent of water made her trot a little faster before the ground merely shook with the presence of thunder. A storm had been brewing this evening and when she reached the entrance and was greeted with a flash of blue lightning she couldn't help but smile. Crash! The thunder shook the cavern walls, some rocks ticking to the ground as the night was covered by dark clouds and downpour.
She moved easily into the muck of the charred veil yard, now mostly muddy with bones and armor swimming about a bit. She turned to the mountainous wall, hooking her wing claws in first before starting to climb up the rocky face towards a larger plateau jutting from the side of the stone nature made monument. Her mane clung to her long neck as her once hot scales were doused in cool, tickling water drops. Another crash of lightning snapping the sky like a whip and a gust of wind to her face made her eyes close in peace. Nothing held such raw power as a storm made by nature, natural magics. It felt much like mating to her, rolling winds, the thunder's outcry when the lightning peaked and finally released itself upon the earth.
She snorted in the rain, her scales shining even in the darker night. Feeling a bit awkward, even by herself in the middle of a torrential storm, she sat down regally, head lowering and tail coiling around her feet, a sort of covered position for a dragon.
The lightning struck the sky once more, Azurea lifting her long muzzle to watch it streak by before closing her eyes and feeling the heat shoot through the rain, hearing the thunder vibrate through the clouds like a song.
She opened her mouth and a gentle, guttural tone came out before another clap of thunder echoed with her. She sang loudly as the thunder reverberated through her to even help her bones sing the tune, primal, ancient song where no words were needed. It was not about the words, it was about the feeling between her and the sky. She could feel the magical strands wrap around her, the winds drifting and singing in whisps as the thunder held the heartbeat of the song. Higher and lower she sang with the storm, her head bobbing and her eyes half open as if in a deep trance. The lightning struck great cords with the clouds and forced Azurea to sing louder, to keep with the feeling traveling through her body. She didn't want it to end, rising up on her back feet and spreading her wings wide to hold the notes and call out in haunting tones.
The lightning pierced the ground behind her, entering the mountain and traveling over it as the clouds suddenly lost their power and thinned. Azurea felt the tingle throughout her body as the power drifted over her wet scales, before she fell to all fours and let the lightning leave her presence.
The storm died, abruptly, giving way to clear stars and cool air. The very ground seemed to breathe under her feet as the storm passed, Azurea's body suddenly feeling far more fatigued than it had been earlier. Her energy, her soul had gone out into the night for those few brief moments, and a part of her soul came back when the storm echoed back to her. She shook her body off slightly before following her path back down into the cavern, leaving muddy footprints trailing up the familiar path.
