haven't done one of these in awhile and I was going through a notebook the
other day and realize i had one I didn't finish, so I figured I would finish this one,
keep in mind this particular moment was over a year ago and that's the mentioning
of November....a year before last.
anywho, just a weird little oddity I thought was fun to share,
I've watched this show countless times and I've always seen people
go under as well as some folks in the audience go under and then come
up on stage. apparently I'm so angst and against human commands
even my subconsciousness is full of rebellion, I don't know, just a theory,
but if anyone knows why it's next to impossibly difficult to be hypnotized
I'm really intrigued to hear, but if not, hope you guys enjoy these silly
little moments from my life.
dig it.

well, to be honest, my expectations of the experience is no more simple then sleeping.
that's what I expected to simply fall asleep.
the more he talked the more hyped and focused I became, so when he said sleep, I simply
closed my eyes and tried to sleep, only I had my eye open thinking, when is it suppose to happen
when am I going to fall asleep?
he tried doing it again on my head, and I tried to do what he said, but i just raised my head back and
said, I don't think it worked, and he kindly took my hand and led me off stage.... that was the end of it,
a bit disappointing, didn't even get to talk to the guy after the show, he was busy with something else,
based on no one caring I'm assuming this is a regular thing that happens to people. Even at night when I
am currently asleep, when my girl tries to talk to me she says I always pop right up when she starts talking,
as well as throughout the night I shake and twitch about every 15 minutes, if I didn't have a GF to tell me
these things I would've never known.
but, one cool thing about that is since I'm always in that state when I'm sleeping I'm able to remember dreams
more vividly and very often.

Some people go down easy, some don't go down at all.
I'm also a weird case, I can go into a trance at the drop of a hat, but when I go down, there's something in my head, I call it 'watchdog,' who seems to watch every command and suggestion and it pulls me out of the trance if I'm in danger of doing anything socially awkward. It also works with subliminal suggestions; if I get a sudden craving, I imediately find myself searching for the meaning behind the craving. It's like "Shopping at the supermarket, so boring, at least they've god decent music being piped in. Hmm, maybe I should get- Why do I need to get hot dogs?" It's like that, the counter-question cuts in before the subliminal sugestion finishes transcribing itself into a full thought.

Hypnotherapy is one of those silly may or may not work things depending on how receptive you are to suggestions (aka how strong willed you are or are not)
They have done lots of studies on it like most really hardcore religious people are easily hypnotized, but me... won't work I can even pick out suggestive little things in commercials from background noises, certain words and music. (Yes they can legally do that it isn't hidden messages like flashing words and stuff)

what's silly is that there's no reason for subliminal messaging to be illegal since it has never been proven to have any kind of effect on people's decision-making whatsoever.
Hypnotism's kind of in the same boat, really. Someone can be a "licensed" hypnotherapist, but that could mean anything from having studied under a stage hypnotist to just whipping up a diploma for yourself in photoshop and putting it up on your wall. It's got very little to do with any kind of science and there's no official regulating body or anything. Hypnotherapy, for people who can be hypnotized at all, might be useful to help them relax and stuff like that but it can't really bring out lost memories or make you do anything you wouldn't normally do anyway.

Hypnotism is subtle. "You only closed your eyes because he wanted you to" is exactly what hypnotism is. It makes you more susceptible to suggestion. It affects everyone a little bit differently, but hypnotism is basically following instructions and at a certain point in trance, The hypnotist makes you trick yourself. I was once hypnotized to forget the number four. To the outside it looks like he plucked the number four out of my head, but it's more like he made me have the number four not belong when you count. So I would count 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10.
I'm just saying hypnosis is all about putting the subject in a highly suggestible state. You can go into this state willingly, which is how stage magicians do it,or you can be forced into this state via forms of abuse that wear down the body and eventually the mind, which is how brainwashing and torture works. So,I'd avoid being a subject in a hypnotist's act in future since you can't calm down enough to get into it.
The way I heard it, at max only 20-40% of people can be hypnotized. It's actually about whether you're a person that can and uses to drift off into contemplative and/or meditative states naturally with your brain going into alpha waves mode where moving, even in reaction to anything, becomes uncomfortable, even a real bother.
If you're that kinda person, you're easier to hypnotize, because hypnotizing is nothing but directing you towards that state that's natural for you anyway. And yes, it does make you susceptible, not as in that you do whatever somebody tells you, but as in gullible. Gullibility is pretty much the natural state of the unconscious because it just can't tell between sensations, memories, imaginations, and suggestions, which are all the same to it. It's the state of make-believe, where there's no difference between you and the outside world, because it all comes from the same source, the mental fabric that your mind is made out of.
