Café Plaisir: Can I write/draw/have a character in Plaisir?
Oooh! What's new today?
Okay, so it looks like popularity for Café Plaisir is just increasing, and it's wonderful to see! I'm glad you people like it so much!
Anyway, I've had a few requests now for people writing a Plaisir story, or drawing in the setting, or just putting a character in there. Due to all this, I think it's about time to make a little reference journal about it.
First off, I'd like to say, the answer to this question is yes! I love it when people take an interest and I also enjoy expanding the world of Plaisir with new characters and ideas!
There are only a few guidelines, too! The only main rule is that if you're going to do anything with any existing characters, it's imperative that you talk to the owner of that character before you do anything. The setting is open and free, but the characters belong to the writers after all :3
Talking about characters: Plaisir is free to write in, and you can do whatever you want in the setting! However, many stories share common ground, which is usually in existing characters; e.g., many stories use Nature or Jack or October in them. Now, it should be stated that you don't have to do this if you don't want to. Your version of Plaisir can be as different or as similar as you like. But, if you want to have a story setting similar to those used by many of the writers, then the Management journal should be useful! I even state a few positions that had yet to be written in, so if you come up with a good plot that involves one of them, then go off and start writing it then~
If you want to do this, then I have a few recommendations based off of my experience with writing:
- They have to fit the part. You can't have a manager or a supervisor with a stick-it-to-the-man attitude who slacks off and doesn't care about his job, or who otherwise does things that wouldn't fit the position.
- You gotta do something with them. Many positions offer all kinds of story ideas, so think of them and then act on them! Don't let a character stagnate when you could have such fun with what they do~
- Remember that there's not a strict limit on one character per role. There's always going to be some people with days off, and there's got to be people to pick up the slack, work overtime, etc. There're all kind of possible sub-jobs, such as assistants, managers, DJs, or just general helpers. Be creative!
And as a final point - if you do write in Plaisir, we would love to know about it! Shoot myself or any of the other writers a note. We love to see more people join in, and getting to read all your new stuff is a real highlight, it honestly is.
I think those last words are the ones I'll sign off on. Plaisir is something to have fun with, to rejoice in, to get the stories and art flowing. See what fun you can have with it!
Be creative, be inventive, be respectful, and have fun!
