I have been here now almost a year. I always knew a lot of furrys were insane and unpleasant, but I stayed here. "It's better than DA, and there must be a good furry out there somewhere." At least the last part of that I can no longer convince myself of.
As you probably don't know, I am strongly anti-copyright. I contribute to open source projects, use open source software, boycott the RIAA, avoid the MPAA... so it pains me to see a group so much in bed with the idea. More so, it downright irritates me when those people have absolutely no clue how the thing they love so much works. It doesn't really matter, I suppose, when you can send out C&Ds (cease and desist notices) without any legal backing what-so-ever and have most people drop their pants and bend over backwards.
No, furries have a very distorted view of copyright, that is fostered by companies' unwillingness to get PR about suing basement dwellers who draw porn of their characters. Let's take a look at furry double standards:
It's totally alright to "steal" (in the words of almost every furry) characters from games and TV shows. Krystal, sonic, pokemon, digimon... all A-KO.
On the other hand, it is the greatest sin on earth to "steal" from another furry. This includes making an image that LOOSELY resembles another one. Even if it was by accident.
It's rather apparent this view of copyright exists because without it, furries would mostly implode. I fear for the day when this view is finally shattered by hundreds of lawsuits. The kind that actually mean something.
As stupid as it may seem, this is really the reason half the internet hates you all. No, not because you are "different" or even because you like to fap to semi-animal beings having sex with each other. Many, many people do online, yet still attack furries for the simple reason that you are all insane. Insane, shortsighted and totally oblivious.
This has been prompted by something, yes, but not directly. I just seen someone here that I thought seemed pretty reasonable, and I actually thought about trying to get to know, pretty much go off the handle over what I said in the second paragraph. I won't name names since it doesn't matter to me really.
Anyway, my hope of finding a "good furry" has been shattered. And with that, I don't really see any reason to stay around here. Sooner or later I'd be on the wrong side of fursecution if I stayed - and I don't mean non-furries oppressing furries. I mean the other way around.
Notes he will likely be banned for this.
