Good riddance 2020
You were a cursed dumpster fire of a year, and will not be missed.
A brief rundown of my 2020:
January: Chemotherapy gave my mom strictures in her esophagus, which also delayed finishing her treatment. She had to eat slowly and puree almost everything.
February: The pandemic starts to hit, and my mom finishes chemo, but getting her esophagus dilated is delayed to the pandemic. I also managed to snag a coffee table when a local furniture chain goes out of business.
March: I start working from home and my gym shuts down due to the lockdown. My mom's test results say she's cancer free.
April: I miss a trip to the dentist due to the lockdown.
June: My mom's cancer comes back, and she's given a new chemo drug that's nicknamed the red devil. My grandfather spends a few days in the hospital with pneumonia.
July: My cat has a bad reaction to the anesthesia while having his teeth cleaned. He survived, but the medical care wasn't cheap. It was worth every penny though.
August: My mom's cancer becomes terminal, and she dies in the middle of the month. I finally get my trip to the dentist, and learn that I have my first cavity since before I was a teenager.
September: My paternal grandfather is back in the hospital, and dies eight days short of being a hundred years old. While I'm away getting the aforementioned cavity filled, work has an emergency near the end of the client's fiscal year.
October: More work stuff with a hard deadline, and a few surprises that took some long, hard hours to sort out. My gym also reopens, and I feel like I'm starting over again.
November: Thanksgiving is canceled due to the pandemic.
December: I find out that my cat is essentially guaranteed to develop kidney disease in the next two years. Christmas is canceled due to the pandemic and my grandfather dying.
