Heya! I'm Leucean (Loo-see-un), a clouded leopard from the tropics!
I'm currently a university student studying economics.
I'm a nerd with many hobbies whenever I'm not studying!
I enjoy a good adventure and learning new things and skills.
Self-introduction aside, you will find art I've commissioned here.
Occasionally, I'll post something I've made - art, writing or music.
So yeah, I hope you will enjoy your stay!

One Year of Clep

A Year in Retrospect
It's been about a year since Leucean came out of the "in-brain hypothetical design" stage and onto paint and canvas!
Since I received his reference sheet, I have commissioned 10 stickers, 4 icons, 1 half-body, and 3 Prawns (heh).
But what about before that?
The idea of "Leucean", Clouded Leopard, was a one-and-a-half-year-long brainstorm.
I technically had a character before that, but it did not feel like it fit what I wanted to portray myself as.
I was "fennyx" (intentionally uncapitalised because of gamer), an Arctic Fox with purple ears and gold eyes;
my first OC and the only decent artwork I have ever made. I should post it. Even when I designed him,
I felt it was not representative of me. He was a mascot for my Steam username and not a mascot for... me.
So, I went to the drawing board. I knew I wanted my character to be feline or canine - my two favourite animal groups.
I wanted my character to have warm, autumn, earthy colours. I also loved the concept and themes of guides
and trickster gods in folklore and culture.
With these requirements, I narrowed my list to foxes (and their subspecies), coyotes, jackals, tigers,
and leopards (including snow and clouded). Out of these species, I chose the coyote at first.
Warm earthy tones that could easily fit an autumn theme? Check. An association with Mesoamerican trickster god Huēhuecoyōtl?
Check. Feline or canine? Definitely!
So, wouldn't a coyote fit my wants?
Something felt off to me. Backstory and lore are concepts I value in my character.
How do I explain a coyote native to Southeast Asia? I know it sounds stupid since furry is about expressing oneself.
I spent a couple of days thinking of possibilities, but nothing I thought of could rationalise the silly premise.
So, I did what I knew I could. I built a world, a fantasy world with anthros as inhabitants to explain a Southeast Asian coyote.
This cool fantasy world project eventually morphed into the continent of Aurbern, later becoming a D&D world setting
and then a mod for Civilization 6.
Even after I built Aurbern from its aquifers to its mountains, I could not reconcile coyotes with Southeast Asia.
I stopped the brainstorming process and carried on as Schrodinger's Coyote.
But the answer was staring me in the face, and I was too stupid to see it.
Clouded Leopard. It is a species endemic to Southeast Asia.
Clouded Leopard. A sacred species, a guide in the culture of the Rukai tribe.
Clouded Leopard. Hecking. Adorable.
And so, I turned the vague abstract of a clouded leopard with warm, earthy colours
and an autumnal theme into text for an artist to interpret, submitted the commission request to
Madandcat, and waited excitedly.
One month and a few revisions later, he was no longer an abstract concept in my brain but a real character.
He is me.
So what's next for this Clep?
In the coming months, I have a little surprise on the way. Trust me, it is pretty neato.
Well, neato is a massive understatement.
Besides that, I will be on exchange to Canada for the fall term (September '24 to January '25)
in Toronto at York University. If you are reading this and you are from the Greater Toronto Area or the university, send me a note!
I want to connect with furries from the area during my stay!
As for cons, I am unsure if I will attend another major convention this year.
Little Island Furcon this year is a distinct possibility. Maybe I could be convinced to head down to Chicago for a week.
Maybe (Hint: Bribe me with tickets to a Bears game).
