My name is lily, I am a female ilu type of marine creature of the sea. You may know my type from my size and how we talk to one another. Just like with some of your marine animals, we use sounds to talk to one another in a pack and unfortunately, we don't talk like humans or birds for that matter but with some sort of training, it might just be possible.

Everything About YCH In Furry Fandom
Are you looking to get into the world of YCH, but not sure where to start? Then this video is perfect for you! In this informative guide, I will introduce you to everything you need to know about YCH in the furry fandom, from what it is and how it works, to some of the most popular YCH sites and artists. After reading this Journal, you will understand the following:
What is an YCH
Sites to commission an YCH
Should you buy or bid an YCH
How to pay for your YCH
The pros of an YCH
The cons of an YCH
What is an YCH?
An YCH, or "Your Character Here", is a type of commission where the artist leaves a blank space in the artwork for the commissioner's character to be placed. YCH commissions are popular in fandom communities, as they allow fans to "insert" their own OCs (original characters) into popular scenes or settings.
Sites where you may commission a YCH?
When it comes to commissioning a YCH, your next thought is where to go. You're in luck, my furry pals. Here are five websites where you may commission a YCH!
Number 1, Furaffinity.
You may be wondering why furaffinity is ranked first on the list. Good thing you inquired. Furaffinity has become the premier art website for discovering new artists to follow and, if you're lucky enough, commissioning an artist for your character design, whether you want a YCH or not.
When it comes to YCH, how much does it cost to hire an artist on furaffinity? According to my research, you may spend anywhere from $40 to $100 for a YCH, and some do and do not allow certain elements, so if you're unclear, it's better to contact the artist.
Number 2, Twitter.
I'm not sure why, but I seem to discover that if you're on Twitter, you're lucky enough to find some YCH artists on Twitter, and the easiest method to locate the perfect artist is to use keywords such as YCH Artist or YCH Commissions or whichever you feel typing it in, after all, that's two individuals who sometimes use when narrowing it down.
What would it cost to hire a YCH artist using Twitter? That aspect is, to be honest, unknown. Some artists do not post their pricing sheets with the public, so it can be difficult, but my best option is for you to use a Tweet with a brief message and some hashtags that an artist would use, and ideally, you will have some contacting you and asking you to contact them. Be aware, Twitter is notorious for porn bots and false accounts, so always research them up before approaching them on Twitter!
Number 3, Deviantart.
Deviantart is the third website on my list. You will now have more questions than answers as to why I ranked it third on the list. To be honest, I've heard that a lot of artists are quitting the site due to art theft from other people, but also that artists are discovering that they are utilising A.I tools for artwork, which is kind of frustrating if you ask me.
How much does it cost to hire a Deviantart artist? When it comes to YCH-related artwork, my best assumption is that some people give free artwork in return for credit. This implies that an artist would create a basic drawing that you could use for free to generate money in exchange for crediting them for the YCH basis. Some artists specify what you can and cannot do with a free YCH base, so always read the artist's restrictions.
Number 4, Discord
Discord comes in fourth place. Discord, absolutely. We are all familiar with this platform, so why is it listed so low on the top 5 list? Well, let's face it, finding an artist on Discord is not easy, and that using Discord is more of a group chat with a fan base that has likes about a type of topic, so for Discord, if your looking for a YCH Discord group, you should ask around or ask Google or YouTube for a list of Discord YCH Channels that allow you to ask people if they have any YCH artwork going and if so, how much would they be.
If you want to receive prices and charges from an artist on Discord regarding YCH, your best chance is to post an ad if they allow it and say what you're looking for; if you're courteous enough, some may offer you a discount.
Number 5, Facebook
Finally, Facebook is at the bottom of the list. You'd think I'd put Facebook at number two or three on the list, but do you know why I put it at number five? Because it's a ****ing meaningless site, if anything, Facebook is full of crazy twisted individuals, and if you're looking for an artist for your YCH, I'd advise you to take extreme caution before stepping foot into this platform.
For pricing about YCH on Facebook, I'd suggest don't use it unless you have friends who are artists and provide a YCH, in which case fantastic news, but for anything else, I'd steer away of this network!
Should you buy or bid an YCH?
In this section, you'll want to know if you should purchase or bid on a YCH. I can't tell you, but the simplest way to say it is that it all relies on whether your budget is limited or flexible. If your budget is restricted, I'd recommend looking for an artist that permits you to purchase a YCH. If your budget is more flexible, bidding might be a viable option if you have the finances and are willing to keep bidding until you win.
How to pay for your YCH
So, how are you going to pay for your YCH? You might be wondering, how can I pay? Well, some artists only accept payments via PayPal or Boosty. Why not bank transfer, if you ask me? My response would be, I'm not sure, maybe for safety concerns, but is that true, I'm not sure, so I'd suggest always use PayPal if you can, but if the artist mentions Boosty only, then they may have had troubles with PayPal in the past, who knows, I'm not an expert or a mind reading!
The pros and cons of an YCH
Based on furrieseverywhere.com
More artistic freedom – The artist can fully express themselves with the theme, scene, pose of the artwork without much influence from the commissioner in those areas. Commissioners are often inspired by these pre-planned artworks and can easily imagine their character fitting perfectly into a specific YCH scene.
Can be affordable – Since auction style prices are based on a bidding system, if the sketch or unfinished piece speaks to you but not to others, you may be able to get a great deal on it.
Creates social engagement – Some social media and online art gallery browsers display images based on an algorithm. This is a perk for artists because YCHs have the chance to get a decent amount of engagement which helps more YCH artists get discovered.
Allows the artist to get paid for an original idea – Sometimes an artist will have a beautiful scene in mind, but can’t afford to spend unpaid hours creating it. Offering it as a YCH is a great way for artists to solve this dilemma and create a happy commissioner in the process
Cons:
Cookie Cutter YCH designs are less original – There are lots of people who are not fans of the unlimited template style YCH slots where many people can commission an artist for the same design over and over. Even with that said, there are plenty who do like them and will keep buying them as they are affordable and they find them enjoyable.
Constant YCH ads can get spammy – If you are watching a bunch of artists and several are hosting YCH auctions, your art feed can get filled with YCH notifications and reminders more frequently.
Less of a surprise to the commissioner – Lets face it, you will already know what the piece of art will look like, what the pose will be, and what the background will look like, so the joy of surprise is drastically reduced. However, the overall enjoyment of seeing your character in a scene you already love will still be there. So yay!
