My social media usage has changed a lot since my last journal. I've almost entirely dropped Tumblr and Reddit and have been using Twitter a lot more. The new DA is annoying to clear submissions on so I've been using that way less frequently, too, which is fine since so many of the artists I follow don't use it as much either. And since I've been working from home for months now I've been avoiding using my PC after work when I can so if it's got a shit mobile site odds of me using it are even less.
With more Twitter usage I've been seeing more of artist raffles and such, and sometimes they want a ref posted, and I've been feeling like my fursona design isn't quite where I want it to be, at least color-wise. I think I was on a big Glaucus atlanticus tear when I first designed it and it looked so clean, but I've always felt it would be awful to wear a mostly-white fursuit (if it ever came to that) and in my day-to-day life my favorite colors are more green, teal, and blue. So I think I'm gonna work on changing it up a bit to something that feels more "me" for my personal fursona.
I also felt really stupid for only recently realizing that a "froglet" is totally a thing so rather than feeling like a weird mash up of creatures (not that there's a big problem with that it's just more annoying to have to describe) I could just say "froglet" to get "frog with tail" across. And it totally fits my original intent of not feeling quite fully grown up, too. So that's changed, but it's really just a technical name thing. Still no character name though. I don't know if I really feel comfortable calling it "Scunosi," it's been my online handle for over a decade and if anything I associate it most strongly with my WoW main that I played for ages. So that still needs a thinkin'.
The whole frog thing is kinda funny right now actually, they seem to be having a "moment" on social media and it feels like every other day there's some new frog-themed art or merch getting tons of hits. Just right now I've got a new frog plush, beret, and ita bag lined up, and maybe even a second ita bag if I can't resist it. My Animal Crossing island accidentally wound up half-frog despite me not intending to make "Frogtown" (the name of my New Leaf town, though I never actually had any frogs). I really, really don't want to be all-frogs because it'd be boring visually, but I'm happy with the ones I have and they fill some personality niches I needed. Now if only one of the 3 (!) Smugs or Normals would move out (that's not one of the frogs, of course).
Art-wise I haven't really done anything outside of doodling in a Jackbox game in ages. I was painting over a giant canvas of mine to make a new piece to act as a headboard for our bed but haven't touched that project since before the lock-down. I did do a couple sketches I guess but it's been really intermittent, like once a month maybe. I know I shouldn't beat myself up too much about it and just feeling tired and drained all the time given the current status of...everything, but it can be hard to not feel a bit guilty about just sitting on my butt and playing Animal Crossing for 12 hours a day. I'm lucky enough to still be working but that's been really busy and tiring for a while now, too, so it's stressing me out a lot more than it used to. Work from home's been great, I just wish we'd quite feeling so under-staffed and stretched thin.
Maybe it'll be another two years until my next journal, but it's probably good to have at least one little time capsule from during this whole thing.
