✿Personal Profile✿
I'm Malachyte! You can also call me Mal. I'm a red panda, and a full-time freelance artist. Right now my focus is art for the furry fandom, but I hope to expand that by 2024.
Some tidbits about myself, to give you a general sense of what I'm all about--
I was born on a leap day. My pronouns are She/They. I have a bachelor degree in Japanese Language & Culture. I am a self-taught artist, and I do both traditional and digital media, as well as various textile crafts (like knitting!). My favorite tools are pencils and Copic markers. I love books. Some of my favorite podcasts are No Sleep, My Brother My Brother & Me, and Reading Glasses. I love to rewatch Monster Factory episodes when I can't sleep. I'm passionate about herbology, wildcrafting, food science, and sustainability. I'm a sucker for anime maids and magical girls. My drawing streams get very silly.

My plan for the FA site changes
timeline of events for the history of the website up through 2016.
I am incredibly disappointed by this overall trend, both in the furry fandom and in culture as a whole, to needlessly complicate the separation of fantasy and reality. I especially feel that furries, whose entire interest is pinned on the knowledge that we celebrate feral and anthropomorphized animals while understanding that we don't want to fuck animals in real life, should be the most suited to understand this nuance. My hope is that it's only the loud minority who are screaming about lines on a page deserving rights.
It's difficult to resist getting into the weeds of my every thought about why this is happening, what it means, how it makes me feel, etc. After starting and rewriting this journal a dozen times, I realized that I'm probably not going to change anyone's mind with my own opinions, and it's not my job to do so, anyways. I'm here to state where I stand and let people know I support them in freedom of expression through art and fantasy. If you find yourself reading this and feel uncomfortable knowing that some people create art about topics you disagree with, I invite you to explore that feeling, and check out this thread. This person does a fantastic job speaking about this issue, and more importantly links to numerous sources talking about the facts behind exploring taboo subjects in art. If you're going to enforce your own morals on others, do your research about why and spend some time learning, before you hurt others with misguided accusations.
With all that said, the reason I feel this new interpretation of the rules effects me is because I'm now forced to make a choice. Leave my gallery as-is and possibly lose my account to suspension, or delete the "problem pictures" and signal to those clients that they are lesser? My business, or my morals?
In my gallery are several art pieces I've created over the years that feature adult-aged characters with petite bodies, flat-chests, shortstack anatomy, and some Pokemon; all of which are now under fire. I take commissions seriously, and personally; these are requests that a real person in real life took the time to make of me. They formed their idea, put their heart into it, spent their hard earned money on it, and put their trust in me to deliver something they can connect with emotionally. I know for a fact that a few of those petite-bodied commissions are based on the client's body in real life; they don't often get to see themselves represented in art, because petite figures are infantalized and told they're not allowed to be sexual beings. How can I possibly, in good conscious, delete this art that helps them feel validated and seen?
I'm scared of losing this account, it's true. Freelance furry art is my full-time job, and I don't know what impact it may have on my business if I lose one of my most viewed galleries. But I can't shake the feeling in my heart; this isn't right, and I can't see myself going against something I believe in so strongly. I hope that, perhaps, this rule change will be rolled back, and instead FA will implement tag blocking like they should have years ago. Maybe my account will never be reviewed, and nothing will happen. Maybe this very journal will be my nail in the coffin. I don't know. But I have to do what I feel is right. If I lose this, and things get tough, I will have to trust that I can figure something else out.
I think that's all I can really say on this for now. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for supporting me over all these years through the many ups and downs we've faced together. I hope we can face many more.
Here is a list of every website I am currently on, listed in order of most active to least active.
Gallery websites
Business website - Soon to be revamped in July and to contain a more robust gallery and commission information.
Inkbunny - My most active gallery; everything gets uploaded here, and tag blocking exists.
SFW FurAffinity - A curated selection of general audience art.
Weasyl - An excellent alternative to FA.
SoFurry - It still exists!
Picarto - Did you know they have a gallery function there?
Commiss.io - Where I used to take commissions. The website seems to be abandoned by the staff though, and I am moving away from this platform.
Inkbunny (Hardcore) - A separate IB for anything with gore, noncon, etc.
NewGrounds - It's rare, but I do post here.
Artconomy - Currently still building my portfolio here. Similar to Commiss.io in that it helps clients find artists for hire.
Itaku - Currently still building my portfolio here.
Non-gallery websites
Twitter - Not a gallery website, but I do post art and stream notifications here.
Telegram - A broadcast channel I use to announce streams and scheduling.
SubscribeStar - Currently on hiatus. Will eventually host my comics.
Youtube - Very old, but eventually it should see more speedpaints and stream clips.
Here is a useful tool that lets you easily download an FA gallery. I suggest using this on any artists you follow whose art may be called into question.

This is a journal that has been weighing on me ever since they announced these misguided rule enforcement changes. The staff behind FA has shown us time and again, over decades, that the rules are open to interpretation depending on the mod, the day, the weather, and the popularity of the person in question. This is no longer totally up to date, but if you need a reminder of why trusting FA is a difficult ask, here's the ol' I am incredibly disappointed by this overall trend, both in the furry fandom and in culture as a whole, to needlessly complicate the separation of fantasy and reality.
