Creation and Augmentation:

As a result of an unending arms race for supremacy of the war-torn planet of Torrent, Project Firewalker was created. It's goal was to create soldiers capable of using Psionics - The weaving of a other-worldy energy known as The Myst. In initial trials, a total of 200 subjects were abducted, and another 300 were created synthetically - Rhys being part of the latter statistic.

The trials and tests were brutal, often causing subjects to succumb to various entities that stalked the Myst, driving them to violence and insanity, and eventual termination.

Out of the 500 subjects, only 30 survived. Augmentations for combat then only left 10 functional Psionics, the notable of the bunch being Strider-326, Raiyne-22, Akra-424 and Rhys-425.

Rhys was a special case, as during a deployment, he had succumbed to the influence of the Myst, but wasn't lost. Instead, the entity became part of him, causing him to perpetually teeter between lucidity and insanity - bolstering his abilities further.

Escape and Freedom


Rhys escaped during the deployment, and has since avoided patrols of the Legion by hiding in Outer Prioxis - a frontier region of space where lawless and mercenary work are the name of the game. Here he earned the name Ghoul, as his various scars and augmentation gave him a Frankensteinien appearance.

To this day, he is still actively hunting the Frontier, seeking his own form of peace and freedom. Gods know if he will ever find it.
