Here is an earlier piece I did of my buxom female raccoon Jessica Knight. Decoratively draped on the Dillon blue shooting mat she is sharing the scene with a CETME Ameli SAW. It kind of looks like a MG42/ MG3 that got shrunk in the wash. It does share one thing in common with the MG42 in that it has a very high rate of fire in the neighborhood of 900rpm.
Since this is an earlier piece of Jessica I got a few things off in it. I did her ears to small and there are some general issues with the figure overall, but that is why it is good to look back at your work sometimes to see where you've been and how much further you've grown.

The Ameli can also be stripped into it's major section and tucked neatly into a small suitcase, along with a couple of belts of ammo.
As it can also be reassembled from said suitcase in a few seconds without any tools, it's ideal for use as a concealed weapon --- it's no small miracle that some Al-Qaida bag-man hasn't taken a few to Pehawar, Pakistan to be reverse-engineered, and copied in the thousands...

Indeed, you'd be amazed at how much you notice when you look back ^_^
Speaking of noticing, I really like how you've been able to pull off the "soft" look to the characters while making the guns look as rigid as they are in real life. The characters really DO look like you can reach out and touch their fur!

Nice job on the piece. Crisp detailing on the LMG as well, from what I'd heard the similarity to the MG42/MG3 is partly convergence from needing to cool such a high ROF and mostly that the Ameli used the MG42 mechanics as a basis for the design. Given how well the MG42 performed and how reliable it was not a bad move at all. I personally think the MG42 design is better than the M240.
