While this isn't directly a traditional art tutorial, it's something that every traditional artist will have to deal with if they want to share their work en masse. Scanners can be a pain, so a guide on how to deal with them seemed appropriate.

I already did this tutorial a while ago (but forgot to finish and upload it). ^^;
Here's a little overview about the basics how I scan my pictures. There are of course different ways how to scan a picture properly, but this way always worked out nicely for me. :)
Scanner: Canon CanoScan 4400F
Program: Adobe Photoshop CS3
Artwork: Traditional colored picture (markers, pencils)
PLEASE NOTE: FA does not allow uploading larger pictures (than 1280px), so this jpg will probably not be readable - for the FULL SIZE picture, please see my submission on DeviantART:
