Regret
By AdorableFluffyBigEars
Tears cloud my vision as the pain takes over,
my mind a torrent of emotions, lost.
We hold onto what we can, while we can,
but my grip has faulted, I turned a blind eye.
A blind eye to what is clearly in front of me,
weeks? days? hours? minutes?
The time passes quickly, almost like a countdown.
A countdown which I know is coming,
I've known for months, seen it before too many times.
Yet, Ive grown scared, became a coward.
Scared of accepting, scared of letting go.
A warmth that used to hold me,
has now turned to cold fingers in my hand.
I can't help but feel guilty, ungrateful.
Time wasted on meaningless tasks,
which could've been spent with loved ones.
These are my regrets as I lay next to a cold frame,
a figure of a man who loved me more then himself.
Yet I believe that, he wouldn't want this.
Theses thoughts that consumed so darkly,
resting heavy on my heart, but what could i do?
I remember his words when my father passed,
"He loved you and wants you to be happy"
These words now rest on silent cold lips,
as I kiss you one last time, and remember them.
Goodbye Pop Pop, you will be missed.
