I think the actual technology is really really neat. Very inventive and clever way to emulate sound in a recordable format.
But I don't really understand the appeal behind the people (not you) who say it's better or anything. I've listened to both, and I've found that FLAC's sound a hell of a lot more clear, crisp, and true to reality than Vinyls ever did.

Not sure if I understand that. FLAC sounds like you're actually there, listening to the artist play the song, provided you have proper audio equipment/soundcard to actually listen to the song on something that isn't a shitty laptop.
Vinyl isn't bad, not at all, but it sounds muted by comparison. A little more dulled, not as clear. I can't make out every little detail of the sounds I'm listening to in the same way.
The volume doesn't seem to effect my ears either way, though. The loudness sounds the same regardless of the medium, provided the audio quality is the same. Maybe it's just an ear/preference thing?

Is the last LP in the crate "Invisible Touch" by Genesis? http://eil.com/images/main/Genesis+.....ORD-199516.jpg
