How do you deal with the varying thickness of the strands? its awesome how clean they are colored

By adjusting the size of the brush usually, But often with the smeary round brush, by applying almost no pressure at all on the tablet you sort of "drag" the colour, which makes it possible to thin out a stroke without having to reduce the size of the brush.
