thats more then all right, just no tugging on a foxtypes tail, one it hurts rather bad, two it makes the tugger subject to a curse

petting the tails is fine, tugging them isnt, a kitsune or ninetails have quite a number of nerves in their tails that merge together, so any sensation plesant or painful is magnified a good deal
