Two tanukis and a dragon in a bathhouse
Commission for DrewDracoSune02. He wanted me to do a manga-style scene of three of his characters together in a bathhouse: from left, Soryu, Daisuke and TD. Considering the awful stuff that's been happening with Alex's IRL situation at the moment, I hope that this pic will cheer him up. =)
Soryu looks tired because he just had a really intensive training that day, while Daisuke and TD just wanted to relax and enjoy the bath.
I have read about bathhouses and I'm somewhat fascinated by the concept, especially in Japan where public baths are popular. Here, in Malaysia, such public baths can't exist due to religious reasons and because of the incredible obscenity of staring at each other naked, which my religion considered it a taboo.

Ah, bathhouses and saunas... There are many (gay) sauna in France and Belgium, such a pleasure to live in a country where religion has no rights.
In the U.S. bathhouses were very commonly gay hangouts by intention. They are uncommon these days, though, for the same reason that gay bars are on the wane. Acceptance by society is leading to people just being out and dating like straight people do -- which is preferable to most of us.
Actually most gay bathhouses were closed down because of the AIDS crisis and never reopened.
That's a factor, too, and I shouldn't have omitted it. Most conversations I've had with older guys on the subject usually start with, "Nobody really misses them, and you shouldn't either." I guess you don't know what you got 'till it's gone and good riddance?
Gay bars, at least in America, are tending to close sooner than open, and the reason is usually waning clientèle.
