They don't have the same once-per-24-hour sleep pattern as humans.
And Vizlet has grown very skilled at being able to tell if a yinglet is lying; if one of them claimed to be a human-turned-yinglet, they almost certainly wouldn't include vital little details like sleep patterns, among other things.
And, while yinglets require less overall sleep, they exhaust their energy supplies quicker than most species as well, so they will take short power-naps anywhere from 3 to 7 times in one 24-hour period. More on that later.

Oh wow. Your expressions are amazing Val. Love every one of those shots of Vizlet and Kass.
Of all the things that would make her take Kass's story seriously, guess we'll have a more definite answer in a few weeks.
Also that (!) Kass you've been spotted. find somewhere to hide; and maybe also take a nap. I vote for boxes.
Vizlet also loots really cute without her headcover/hat thing.

Well I certainly was not expecting her to believe Kassie was human anytime soon.
But really that's what causes her to believe Kassie was human. They must have a vastly different sleep cycle.
And what other kinda crazy biological funcitions that you have not told us about, do the Yinglet's have anyway.

Well! She's not particularly "great," so much as that adjective is being used to strengthen the statement.
As in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkvRrxI4R6c
And much like Odin, she's a yinglet mythological figure that is told to be very tricky at times.

I do try to keep things consistent! :D
While I do have a mind for details, I do need to keep it reigned in a bit, or I start spending weeks on a single page just adding more layers of details.
Which can work in some formats, but really holds back a long comic-format story like this one!

The thing about elves, they "passed away" and the humans took over the world. With yinglets evolving eons in a generation and reproducing like rabbits they may take over the world similarly. Maybe in this world humans will just be fairy tales told by yinglets someday.
The dragon was done by Bpanthress, the fusion rifle was edited by me to get the basic idea of what I wanted and then had someone help me make it HD while the halo armor bit of 3d was from actual game models I found ^.-.^ Im the kinda person who doesnt rush things, I pay what someone wants for what I want. Them let them do it at a leisurely pace!
There is of course the old joke that assumes Habzig has avian pets but I have a feeling you have something even more clever in mind...

Random comment here: can you imagine if Caboose was in this universe?
Caboose: HEY TUCKER LOOK WHAT I FOUND! It's so cute and fluffy, im gonna name him Tom.
Tucker: What the heck is that thing? Get away from it before it gives you rabbies or something.
Caboose: OW! I tried to pet him and he bit me!
Yinglet: *growls*
Caboose: that's not very nice, Tom.

The art is looking great. That realization moment looked good even in the itsy bitsy preview image on my phone, which is always a good test for an expression! And for whatever reason I really like the enthusiastic expression in the second panel too.
Cannot WAIT to see how this revelation plays with Vizlet's sanity. (Or turns out to make sense to her somehow. SHE'S STILL HIDING SOMETHING)

I can't help but wonder if perchance this meeting is about Kass/new female yinglet in the enclave. Or if perhaps it has to do with a female's natural role in the enclave's future. May even the original point being a pairing between this new female some other yinglet.
To see Kass' face when such news is imparted upon him. Oh to see that would be quite the scene. I will now be eagerly awaiting the continuation more than ever before.

And once again, your species is more and more like mine (other than the binary sexes thing). Shozi divide the 22 hour day into 8 periods and typically sleep for half an hour to an hour in 6 of them. They rotate who is staying awake during which so that there is always someone watching out for threats to the sleepers, but most of them stay awake through two of the night time periods during which the tribe does larger collaborative projects.
So far, everything of relevance to this similarity between Yinglets and Shozi is only linkable in Google Docs.
There are only two images of my species so far, one is the one I made my Avatar from (I'm the Shozi'Anto on the left, the right one is a drakitty who loves me dearly), and the other is by/of my 'daughter'. (note: both images are only of the Anto sex. Yinglets are much more like the Naku sex. In that second image, the thing in the background is actual hir dolphin flook-like tail end. Anto have a large variety of possible tail ends.)
The other major similarities in culture/physiology would be mostly with the Shozi'Naku (smallest of the four sexes and about 40% of the population), who are about the same size, have similar 'walks' though Naku tend to hop around with their larger and springier legs rather than walk. They have an ADHD brain that causes them to think of things quite rapidly and then forget them, appearing to others as distracted forgetfulness. This also affects their speech creating 'naku speech' in which sentences are rarely longer than three words and often have various parts of speech missing as well as lots of self referencing.
"Thorny'Naku smart. Yinglet stupid head. No think. Yinglet tooph stupid. Thorny have no 'Zhh.' Thorny'Naku have 'tttthhhhh.' Yinglet share fruit? Thorny get fruit. Mmmm, tasty fruit. Oh! Hollow pokey stick! Yinglet, see pokey stick!" (It might be a while before shi remembers to get the fruit.)
But Naku are not stupid. They can calculate and find pattern with extreme speed and while Shozi are tribal, still hunting and gathering, they are aware of subatomic physics. If Shozi didn't hate the sounds of machines and electricity they would be amazing engineers. Instead, they became excellent bio-engineers. They even grew a living space ship with the help of other species on the planet.

/me giggles at hir mate's example if a Thorny'Naku, and ponders, handing the hunched little fuzzball a book, titled spot runs.
"Hi spot. You're a good dog, spot. spot loves to run. See spot run? run spot run!"
and on and on...to see what the naku would think of this children's book for learning to read.

Ey yeah, I see the similarities! There are definitely a number of yinglets who aren't totally comfortable with piecing together a complete sentence. They sound a lot like what yinglets were like in their early concept phase; for the purposes of the story I'm telling though, they needed to be the way they are now because otherwise I couldn't include [PLOT ELEMENT A] and [PLOT ELEMENT B] in the comic! You know how that is.
And similarly, yinglets are the kind of species that will probably manage to use technology to overcome their handicaps (and likely specialize in it) in the future, if they manage to survive their species' early development phases. I'm big into history, biology, and cultural anthropology; so I wanted to play around with some what-ifs about a species coming into early development, in a world where other cultures, languages and technological developments already have existed for some time.
I also wanted to make a comic about dumb little ratty things with birdy little feet, so THAT'S WHAT WE GOT
