Thanks, dude! It was fun to sit at a big table with other stuff doing sketchbooks and actually be able to participate ^_^ Usually, I'll try to play along with a pencil and paper and it's just kind of sad and demoralizing, haha. The whole laptop + tablet setup was a little unwieldy, but I already had it all there for the painting panel thing later that night, so I decided to make the most of it ^_^

I don't know how I feel about the texture showing over the lightest parts of the wall, but I'm definitely in love with the pose, line, and colours, as always! <3

Yeah, it's definitely a little overpowering, but without it, you can see just how totally blank the background is, haha. I guess I could have added a different texture instead, but so it goes on a quick sketch ^_^

I love the appearance of scales on this!! Are they a part of the background that were layered over?

They're a texture layer that I slapped over the top of it all once I was done throwing down paint. Then I masked out the area over his clothes so they'd be scale-free ^_^

I really do like the way that looks. Very cool. :)

Haha, yeah, I think you found one ^_^ Anything that involves linework takes longer, in general. This guy I knocked out in the better part of an hour, I'd say.

If you keep the brush movin' along at a good pace, things can take shape pretty quickly ^_^ I've been trying to work on that recently, and on figuring out the difference between the details that add a lot and help define shapes and textures and which details are just ornamental fluff.

doing that right now myself actually^^; getting useful detail that is.
drawing a small arc of a few friends of mine and myself in the gears universe is pushing my ability to detail. reducing epics heavily detailed concept stuff to something my very simple style is a monumental task. I burned through like a fourth of my sketch book trying to draw that damn lancer ><

Yeah, man. That process of refinement is a huge part of what animators and comic creators go through when working out character designs. Definitely a creative muscle worth training ^_^

Thanks dude ^_^ It was lucky that one of the 25 or so textures I had on hand was a croc-skin book cover. I didn't have an internet connection there, so it would have meant drawing in scales by hand @_@
