As many of you know already, I have the intention of drawing sfw action/shonen style comics in the near future, and I’ve been thinking on things here and there that need to be sorted out, specially regarding my current work as a nsfw artist. This is just so I can make better choices in the months to come as my current projects reach their end.
What do you think of sfw Artists doing nsfw work alongside?
Do you think that artists should pick either or the other?
What do you think of artists known for nsfw work transitioning into sfw work and viceversa?
What’s your opinion about fan service/sexyness in sfw comics? (Note this doesn’t mean that my future works will be guaranteed to have such content)
What is your opinion about my current content, what kind of things you like and what do you look for when I make an update? Be it just erotica of the fancies I make, my artistic style or aesthetics or anything else.
And lastly, Would you like to see action shonen style comics from me? Is that something that would you like to see?

i always think an artist should do whatever they want to do, not limit themselves based on what others think. Might be a naive of me but that's just my opinion
it may be naive but i love that kind of positivism, is the kind of vibe i want to transmit with my sfw works!
To be fair, an artist should be able to draw what they want. SFW or NSFW, I and so many others love your art style and characters, so seeing either will be absolutely fine. As for everything else, I'm not too sure, but I'm sure your fans would love to see an action shonen comic from you. May I ask what sort of setting you are thinking of? Sci-fi? Fantasy? Modern?
I cant kinda give it away yet xvx but thanks for the kind comments!
You're welcome, and in that case, we'll just have to keep a close eye on what comes up!
I think artist who do SFW and NSFW are giving everyone the best of both worlds. I don't think they have to pick one, that is very limiting.
As for fanservice, I may not be the brst to answer because I think fanservice is not the best in sfw comics unless it is aupposed to be nsfw.
I love your clean lines and color choices, and cute, round style. That is always what I look forward to seeing in your art.
It can be anything I would look forward to seeing, but action shonen is a sweet change of pace.
You do you, man.

yeah, the fanservice question is more to test the current aceptance of it in the public, and to see if its actually a requested thing
I'd love to see action style Shonen!
you still have gladio if you want too
you still have gladio if you want too
Ohh i have some plans for gladio but it would be sort of an alternate universe thingy, because fo the background im thinking ovo
I'm not in to action or shonen at all. Seinen is cool (Yu Yu, HxH, the more deep series that aren't just PUNCH THE THING REALLY HARD are cool.) I followed you mostly because of your sugary sweet art, and of course the ero.
Now if you drew a slice of live/shoujo/etc series I would fangirl all over that shit.
Now if you drew a slice of live/shoujo/etc series I would fangirl all over that shit.
That's awesome, regardless. I'll likely still follow your work. <3
I think it's only an issue if you make it an issue. I've seen artists who cease working on pornographic material because they think it makes them appear more legitimate or makes them feel that way, but that's pretty much bunk. Classically, the only people in the industry who have made life difficult for artists is other artists. Publishers, editors, so on and so forth - the people with money, and the people who make decisions - don't really give a shit. Split your SFW/NSFW off into separate names and galleries, but there's no reason to let it influence what you want to draw unless you personally feel a need to make a change.
thats exactly the kind of thing for what i was asking! thanks a lot, this is super usefull
I would gladly enjoy any content you produce, NSFW or SFW. I mainly come for the cute femboi's you draw - and enjoy any artwork you produce. I actually highly enjoy SFW content with fanservice. It gives more for the eyes to enjoy and deffinately shows diversity as an artist. I like Shonen type stuff, though like Rubyiris enjoys, I am much more into Seinen stuff. Though im super into Harem and slice of life stuff.
I think you should go with what your heart desires. Your followers will follow you if they truely enjoy your work regardless of the type.
I don't think there is anything wrong with producing SFW are along side NSFW and vice versa. I think some SFW is a good deviation from the normal dicks and vagoo that people seem to flock too on this site. (Myself not outstanding. I like porn like everyone else)

manny people tell me theyre into seinen, i remmeber i couldnt handle a single episode of gantz xD but strangely im in all range from one piece to jojo
My main thought is that some people might follow a NSFW artist "only" for NSFW material, so they might not be interested in seeing SFW.
I would suggest having 2 different accounts/websites to divide SFW and NSFW materials if you care about accomodating your audience, which you in no way are required to do ~
Aside frmo that, you're the artist! Your art is yours! You can do whatever you feel like doing its your art not ours!

yeah, so far separating both identities is the best choice ovo thanks!
Personally I'm fine with artists doing either or as they see fit, honestly NSFW is a bigger paying market than SFW since there are loads of people with money who also like/want porn but not as many that like/want a fighting/action comic.
That said, I know in Japan there is a big stigma about porn artists doing 'legitimate' work, mainly as it's seen as the publisher or whatever essentially supporting hentai, even worse if the artist did niche/hardcore fetishes in their work. There are exceptions, as always, but in general it is much harder for a porn/NSFW artist to get into the mainstream market with professional paid work, other artists however are supportive, over there and even here it is much easier for an artist to make a living with porn.
Ultimately it's up to you.

yeah ive heard stories like that but also stories that contradict the other stories, in any case, it can be perfectly understoon, if anything what i can make is maybe a webcomic format, supported torught patreon, or torught my own sheer willforce xvx
i think it depends on what kind of sfw content you're transitioning to.
if the shonen action comic (which sounds awesome btw!) is going to be mainly for a teen / adult audience, then i don't think there will be an issue, for the transition or the fanservice. many artists do both sfw "professional" work and nsfw commissions on the side.
if it's more of an "all-ages" project, meant for young children as well, i think there can be some issue - you wouldn't want a child searching your name for the sake of seeing your sfw art also seeing porn, kind of like what happened to MLP.
i don't believe in the "drawing porn makes you unprofessional!" thing. lots of big, successful, and even revered artists have drawn porn.
i say go for it. pushing yourself to do more than your usual is always a good thing! id definitely be interested in seeing your take on the shonen genre. whether or not you throw in fan service is up to your interpretation of the narrative and if it fits, as well as who exactly you're trying to attract with the comic.

yeah, my ideas are mostly sorta all ages but aimed more towards teens and young adults, tought i dotn precisely need or have tought on anything more than mild seudocartoony violence, so far between the messages ive got, i think the most viable option is making a sfw handle
"I don’t mind SFW artists and NSFW switching between the two unless I can’t find their new handle/alias. Fan service is alright. Some people get hung up over it though. I like your soft, shiny render style. I wouldn’t mind seeing comics." - My shorthand Tumblr character limited reply.
I think SFW artists doing NSFW work on the side is cool. It's a shame when I can't see the art produced or not know they produced it when I come upon the piece months, days, years later on an imageboard or something, but that's their discretion.
I don't think artists should pick one or the other, but plenty do.
I don't mind a SFW artist transitioning into NSFW or vice versa until it messes my folder management up because of the new alias as I hoard pics and attribute past and present aliases.
Fan service and sexiness in SFW is alright. There a people who will get hung up over it though for a variety of reasons and some of them are hilarious. I think there have been a few discussion threads over colors of panties.
I'm a mass follower, but I did follow/like/fave because of the soft, shiny render style you have.
I would like to see shonen style comics from you. Hopefully the premise is something that would pique my interest.

Actually, I do care more-so that a NSFW artist transitions into SFW when I know I'll miss the works they produce and if they nuke their galleries to keep their name.

Im not the kind that nukes galleries xvx I have affect towards my old sorta ugly art
That's good.
It's cool to see the evolution of an artist sometimes when they keep really old stuff. Gives people hope, inspiration, etc. It's like that one song that goes ♪ Started from the bottom now we're here. ♪

you killed me with the panties color thing xD and i get you on the folder management, i have a folder for onta and other for doxy, its a friking mess xD im sorry if i ever cause you that, thanks for your input!
Eh! I'd say do what you'd like, but the idea of two different accounts is also valid 'cause for some reason people get pretty upset at the idea that someone can do both NSFW and SFW on the same account for some reason. Honestly though! Do what you want ;o the loyal followers will always stay; and it's not like doin' this will make you lose anyone in the long run! Your current content has been showing some improvement visibly as someone who comes by and sees your stuff regularly tho!
yeah! im already thinking up new handles for sfw accounts, im thinking too that it is the best option uvu
You'd probably loose followers if you started posting mostly sfw stuff as an artist that built up his following as a nsfw artist. They came for the dick, they stay for the dicks.
The thing to do might be to have a second account, with a different pseudonym, exclusively for your sfw stuff. It doesn't have to be a secret, but it gives your established fans a way to opt into the sfw stuff if they want to, instead of opt out of everything if they don't like your shift away from the erotic.
As for being an artist that does both erotic and non-erotic material, in Japan and Europe it's not unheard of for artists to publicly do both. In the mainstream US comic market, doing erotica traditionally made you a pariah, but on the English language internet I don't think people really care as long as you keep everything clearly labeled. By now everyone knows that all artists are perverts.

I tend to enjoy cheesecake more than straight up nsfw anyway, so I feel pretty dang good about it.

I think that it should be up to whatever the individual artist wants!~ Sure, there will be people who may not like the idea of you transitioning, but that comes with the territory~ Personally I love your art style, and SFW art makes it easier to share with a lot more people! I'd love to see more work from you, and I want you to be able to do what you're most passionate about ^.^

What do you think of sfw Artists doing nsfw work alongside?
Not too much, to be honest. They can do as they like. As long as they separate the content or tag it accordingly so that I can do my fair bit responding how I need to depending on my current situation, I don't mind. I also don't think it's too shocking either if they do have an NSFW portfolio, whether they post it publicly or keep it private.
Do you think that artists should pick either or the other?
Nope, in the same way that I think that people should be able to draw or express as they please ( especially so as long as it isn't hate speech). Asking people to choose sides is like asking someone to eat oreos for the rest of their life. It's quite limiting and you can easily get sick of it.
What do you think of artists known for nsfw work transitioning into sfw work and viceversa?
Nothing bad! In fact, it means getting to know the artist a little better in some respects. It's hard for me to articulate why, but I honestly don't think that one is "worse" than the other. The stigma is ultimately limiting. So as long as the artists tag their work and separate it appropriately if need be, there shouldn't really be a problem.
What’s your opinion about fan service/sexyness in sfw comics? (Note this doesn’t mean that my future works will be guaranteed to have such content)
Fanservice can be very irritating if it's fanservice for fanservice's sake. In reference to fanservice of the sexual kind, It can also be pretty cringe-inducing depending on where or how it's pulled off. If I'm watching a character talk about something important to the plot or a situation, I don't want the character listening to them to be focusing on that character's chest/ butt or crotch. I especially don't like sexual fanservice for humour because it usually comes at the cost of belittling and derailing important characters for what looks like no good reason (ex Nanatsu no Taizai whenever Meliodas molests Elizabeth).
That being said, it all depends on the atmosphere of the piece. If it's a work that is porn, I'll read a situation like that far differently than a shounen or shoujo that don't have pornographic themes. I guess if that fanservice is going to be there, it has to mean something, rather than being an unnecessary thing thrown on top. All this I've said is subjective, but if you do use fanservice, it wouldn't hurt to ask if it adds or emphasizes anything of importance to that scene or story. If it doesn't then it may be better to take it out. I could write an essay on this topic so I'm going to cut myself short here, lol.

They inspire me a lot personally, and I generally like to explore new things to see if it's my taste so I'd probably check out any new projects you came up with to see what you're writing about and what your ideas are.
And lastly, Would you like to see action shonen style comics from me? Is that something that would you like to see?
Yes I would. I really like sci fi futuristic stuff and fantasy stuff, but I'll read anything as long as I think it's enjoyable or interesting! Also, I'm really curious as to what you might write as I said in the previous question!

dont worry dear, its better organized! I like hat you said about fanservice because its the kind of thing ive been investigating about, if i were to include fanservice it would be probably on character with a really strong "sexy prescense", the kind whose personality is empowered by their looks (think of a less overblown bayonetta)
{Bayonetta!! My one true weakness! Characters like Bayonetta, Rouge the bat, or Mettaton always have a soft spot in my heart. They're characters with really fun archetypes.
I was trying to think about scenarios that I would be okay with fanservice or welcome it and I thought of-- for example, a character who you think is attractive but always see in unflattering clothes. They work at a place that is usually formal, but since they're working at home all the time, they never put in any effort. Finally, they have to go in to the office to get work done, and you get to see them looking slick in a suit. Or, character A really likes character B, and the more this becomes established, the more the audience is allowed to see character B from character A's perspective.
I suppose the reason I like fanservice as presented in my examples is that they can provide tension or development as well as be rewarding to the audience. I don't want the stuff I'm reading to be a Skinner box that rewards me just for opening the cover, since that isn't a reward at all. There are lots of really creative ways to use fanservice, so even with my "protesting", I don't want you to think that you're limited to how you can use it. This is just my personal thoughts on it.}

To be honest, there's several artists I could name right off the bat that do sfw and nsfw and it goes well for them. One thing that you have to always remember, Nedo, is that there's a group of people you (or anyone for that fact) will never be able to please. Some people will always complain, but the quantity of people that will continue to appreciate will be the same, if not greater over time.
What I'm trying to say is, be happy with what you do, and do whatever the hell you want, but most importantly, have fun! OvO/

here is my honest opinion, my answers are below your questions
What do you think of sfw Artists doing nsfw work alongside?
All artists should be free o do what THEY want, i for one would love to see it ^^
Do you think that artists should pick either or the other?
Hell no, as i said in the above, you should do what you want, i think there should be a balance between the two
What do you think of artists known for nsfw work transitioning into sfw work and viceversa?
I think its a pretty big step and i salute them for wanting to make the change, if some people can't handle it, that is there loss.
What’s your opinion about fan service/sexyness in sfw comics? (Note this doesn’t mean that my future works will be guaranteed to have such content)

I personally love your art all the time, but if i can, i for one would love to see something like a 2 parter, like a cute innocent girl on one side, and on the other side, maybe the same girl, but exhausted from a rough, long night of fun, almost like on a daimakura, or hell, maybe just fan art of your fav animes XD
And lastly, Would you like to see action shonen style comics from me? Is that something that would you like to see?
Of course! and what i would to see is maybe more Yuri stuff, i love seeing girl on girl on action in your style ^^

I know of artists that have worked for MLP and Disney, and they draw NSFW stuff all the time just because they want to. I have also known NSFW artists that drew SFW stuff. The point is, draw whatever you want to draw. The choice is always up to you, your friends and fans will love your art regardless. It might be a good idea to separate accounts, though, just so the people who don't want to see NSFW art don't have to. Up to you though, of course. Personally I like both, so it doesn't matter to me. =3
Fanservice happens all the time (to varying degrees depending on the artist and the comic), and can be done not only tastefully but to humorous effect, it just depends on what the artist wants to do and whether it fits with the theme of the comic or the characters.
As to whether I'd like to see a Shonen-ai style comic, sure. True, I'm more of a Shoujo-ai fan, but Shonen-ai is perfectly fine with me as long as the story is good!

Just have to point out this... Masamune Shirow
Created Dominion Tank Police (Which is pretty SFW) and Ghost in the Shell manga. But is also a popular ero artist. Don't let limitations define you; you define limitations. You can do NSFW art and still take pleasure in that and still make something that is SFW that could rock. Never think that transitioning from one thing means you need to give up another, sometimes you can have your cake and eat it too.

Art has no limitations if you want to make art that's naughty along with art that's nice do it. Besides your art style is really cute and at the end of the day that's all we really care about your art is good.
I follow you and your art because you're really talented, the butts and boobs and dicks are just a bonus. Make whatever you want, as long as you do your best.
I like art because I like the art. If it's NSFW or SFW is completely secondary to me. I honestly think you should do what you want to do, and whoever continues to follow you is more than welcome to do so. Besides, NSFW stuff should (ideally) only be viewed by adults, and if they can't ACT like an adult, then what do they matter?
'U'9 Being able to express yourself in any form is what's important, imo.
I'm an artist who does mainly nsfw art but my webcomic is sfw and I enjoy doing both a lot tho I lean towards nsfw. BOTH IS GOOD!

an important thing in a comic is that the situations are possibly real. You can set it where you want but the reactions have to be sensible. I hope you can serve this little tip. I would greatly appreciate your work and you are a good designer.
Honestly, a lot of my favorite SFW stories have been written by people who started by writing porn to pay the bills (the Porn industry basically subsidized science fiction for decades). Do stuff you are happy to put out, and as long as it's labeled such that someone won't open a big container of genitals in front of their family/boss by accident, there are zero problems.
You're a good artist, I look forward to seeing your stuff.

I'd be interested in seeing this new project of yours. :3 At the same time, it'd make me really sad if you decided to stop drawing NSFW.
As a result, I'd suggest just doing both! ^^ Maybe make a second account for the SFW stuff?

I find artist to do both show greater range and talent. There are many well know artist here how do both like Scappo, Strype and even MaxBlackrabbit. I would say for you to reach for the sfw and nsfw together.
I feel like your style would work very well as a shota sort of sfw comic, and i would enjoy seeing such work,
i would still like to see nsfw content as well but it doesnt have to be the focus if you dont want it to be.
