My main Gemsonas. Emerald (left) and Red Arcanite (right), and their fusion Hibonite (center)
Emerald is based on my birthstone, and his hairstyle is an ancient Egyptian shaved+side-ponytail style. A powerful telekinetic, he is a researcher of Gem-biology and history, essentially running a natural history museum. He is fairly high-ranking in the Blue Diamond Court, high enough to be the owner of a Pearl. However, Emerald is also essentially the definition of "Socially blind". None of the Gems in his employ trust their employer to say anything to a Gem of higher rank, because he WILL be shattered if he is allowed to do so.
Emerld's Green Pearl is a valued Gem to him, and he trusts her to speak her mind, and in fact ordered her to. While not as free as a certain renegade Pearl, Green Pearl enjoys having free reign of the museum and is typically charged with giving tours.
Arcantite is a lab-grown Gem, created in an effort to replicate the Future Vision used by Sapphires. The experiment was only partially a success, resulting in Arcanite having three eyes (the third usually hidden behind his bangs, as is tradition by the Seer Gems to hide their eye). His future vision can only stretch a very short distance into the future, a few seconds under normal circumstances. This makes him an excellent bodyguard to Emerald, who has encountered several threats against his life by the other diamond courts who fear he may know how to shatter a Diamond (random fact, ypu don't need a diamond to shatter a diamond. All you'd need to do is poof them and throw the gemstone on the ground really hard! They're hard, not all that tough. How do you think diamonds recieve their traditional brilliant cut?) like a certain Rose Quartz did so long ago, even though Emrald has repeatedly stated that he's not stpid enough to even consider such an action. To all three survivng courts. Directly.
Arcanite's other hobbies include an enjoyment of the Earth sport known as hockey, and later taught himself to shape-shirt armor styled after hockey pads and helmets (OOC: This bit was inspired by the webcomic Check Please!).
Emerald and Arcanite trust each-other enough to fuse almost perfectly into Hibonite with relative ease. Hibonite is the physial embodiment of the trust between Emerald and Red Arcanite. While on Homeworld, they do not do this ever.
Other Gems in Emerald's employ include a Citrine Yellow Quartz, who mainly preforms heavy lifting tasks in the museum, and a Ruby, who deals with the smaller stuff and has an unusual fondness for puzzles (he's still only barely smarter than your average Ruby.
Citrine, Ruby, and Emerald's Pearl can fuse to become a Coral (whom I haven't put much work into, tbh)
