Only those who are brave enough, tune into channel 7005 at the stroke of 3:15 AM on the eve of August 17th each year.
That was how the urban legend went around the highschool. Most of the girls just giggled about it and said it was stupid, but some of the boys decided this was finally the summer they were going to test it. As August came closer and closer they had prepared themselves with all sorts of goodies for the all nighters and sleepovers for when they planned to brave the myth.
I was like them too, foolhardy and reckless, that night of August 17th, I thought it would just be an uneventful night, recording myself turning on the tv minutes away from 3:15 AM, Setting it to that utterly static, dead channel.
But I could have only wished I wasn't so dead wrong.
As the second hand closed in, 3:15 came and went and a blanket of silence enveloped my entire bedroom. The static stopped making noise, and the screen turned pitch black.
I stared wide-eyed in fear, an enormous glove hand had become to phase right out of the television, before I could react. It had already grabbed me and my mattress in it's entirety, pulling it into the screen with ease.
Everything after that was fuzzy. Almost as much as the static.
As I woke up I had assumed I had just been dreaming, I mean of course I was dreaming! I was just pulled into my tv! But is this still a dream? I was in a place that looked neither here nor there, it was definitely not that of my bedroom.
My body tingled and ached all over, at first it was just my arms but then my legs and chest started feeling it as well. Upon raising one arm to my forehead, I was met with a soft brush against my hand, this texture felt familiar, almost similar to my cat? Could it be fur? I had no mirrors to check and no idea what I should be focusing on.
The dream I was having began to feel a bit too real, I had never been this lucid before. As I looked down at my body I saw it covering itself in a pelt of fur. "This is kinda cool, maybe I can control it?" I thought to myself. As I focused on my backside, a long tail began to stretch out and poke against my matress, As it swooshed back and forth it quickly materialized a thick pet of fur with darker rings around it. Haha, I was dreaming that I was a raccoon! This is pretty nifty.
Looking down at my forming paws and claws, I wiggled my new paw toes and inspected my other changing features with my small nimble fingers. I've never felt a lucid dream that lasted this long before, so it was quite a treat to behold.
Then I saw it in the distance. A boy I recognized from school, he sat behind me in english class, half of his face had taken on a dog-like appearance, and he seemed to be stumbling around with swirls in his eyes. This is when I started to get a bit concerned. I called out to him, but he just continued walking down the white path in front of him out of view. Then I heard a shout from the other direction, it was another one of my classmates, he was the one who decided to hold a sleepover for the myth.
I think he was crying, but I can't be too sure. A fox tail and suspenders had materialized on his body not too long after I noticed him.
Looking down at my raccoon body, I wondered if I should be a little more concerned about the situation the other boys were in, but the more I tried to think about it, the more my thoughts slipped away. I stared mindlessly at my tail swishing back and forth for a good 5 minutes. Part of me was shouting in the back of my mind that this wasn't a dream anymore, and that I should be afraid. But the new part was drowning it out, it felt like my brain was being tickled and massaged. A strange feeling overcame me that started to guide my body toward the wacky looking city in the distance.
It wasn't long before I had been fully lost, to the cartoon character that had been pushing it's way out.
All the brave boys that had turned on that channel like me, were here now.
Never to be seen again.

Gotta say, this is rad! Both unsettling in picture and background summary to it. If anything, I would say that gate of the open mouth is actually damn scary.
We should talk at some point about some toon semantics. I'm working on a story, and have been mulling over ground rules involving how the cartoon characters interact with each other. I understand if you're busy, tho!
Either way, great artwork. It really caught my eye!

I'm down, I am all about story logistics. If you wanna chat or anything just lemme know, I'm only actual busy if I'm at my job. :B
Saw this last night but didn't comment. This is kind of harrowing, scarey but exciting scenario. I've always dealt with a bit of indecision of interest between cartoony art I've really enjoyed or very realistic art. To see at least a TF idea that plays on that is really interesting to me. You definitely do some really amazing cartoony boopers.
It's almost like a weird furry creepypasta. Cute looking raccoon though!
