Maybe a Christmas gift for someone! Here is the second Aumakua, the ice themed spirit.

A different take on an adoptable, and Lapres' Gemstone Owls v 2.0.

My Aumakua are from Hawaiian lore (which the culture is incredibly personal to me) though the design is inspired by things in life that mean a lot to me. Antlers, Crystals, Shrouds, Owls, Gryphons - and with this particular design taken from caribou and my love of snow.

Each Aumakua that I've designed started off as a necklace where I've spent time adding different colours to get a colour pallet. Once satisfied I took the design and added it onto a creature that means something to me, my visual representation of an Aumakua, or an ancestor protector.


Aumakua - (Auu-mah-kuu-ah: Hawaiian)

A creature who is of the spiritual world and of nature. They can take the shape of animals, earthly objects or plants. Each Aumakua is unique in that the person does NOT own the creature, the creature watches over the person, a definite role reversal within the fandom and no Aumakua will be recreated.

Representing the spiritual is the reference sheet in the character design.
Physical is the necklace where the design took inspiration from.

Characteristics:

+ Each Aumakua can have a name bestowed on them by their owner as they do not have a formal name.
+ They are genderless and do not have any sexual organs.
+ The 'cape and shroud' they wear are attached at the head and down their back above their tail and is effectively their wing span if needed.
+ Antlers are crystal embellishment but are attached at the skull.
+ Ears are shown on the reference sheet but are never seen unless their wings are open.
+ Face is more mask like.
+ They follow their chosen person and are not owned by that person. Once they chose they are with them for life acting as a guardian angel.
+ Always neutral in situations (unless stated otherwise, such as the spirit of War)


About this particular design & Necklace:


Silver an Teal wire wrap, Swarovski crystal, various other crystal and seed beads.

Some of my favourite colours of winter time, whites, grey and shades of light blue. A very icy and snowy inspired character. Probably not afraid of the cold, potentially disliking of the heat and summer months.
