Han Tzu is a fu dog who was carved and bound to a statue alongside his brother in the mid 1300s, charged to guard a temple. Tzu and Dao guarded their home diligently, protecting the temple and monks who resided there until long after the temple was abandoned. The two stayed together after being left to wait for their statues to weather, but eventually a wandering demon came and sensed Tzu's restlessness. Tzu was tempted, and he resisted, choosing to stay with Dao. After a while, Tzu became more and more antsy in his own body, bound to a statue and condemned to look out into the forest beyond the perimeter of the shrine's border. Due to their link as brothers, Dao was aware of the moment Tzu made up his mind. With a groan, the fu's stone body became flesh and he stepped from his pedestal. In that moment, Dao's spirit was damned to its statue, not even granted the freedom to walk their perimeter. Tzu bowed to his brother and thanked him for his sacrifice, promising he would one day return once he'd found Shangri La.
Thirty years later, Han Tzu works as a bouncer at a club. Despite his laziness and tendency to ignore his responsibilities, he does manage to keep his job by showing no favoritism of any sort. Being made to protect, his body, even as flesh can withstand the most intense of elements, and he can shift his body to that of a large feral fu, as well as turn parts of his body into weapons; most commonly turning his tail into numerous morningstars. He's pretty much blind without his glasses, and due to his rash aggressiveness, often forgets to adjust his eyesight when changing into his feral form.
This was an awesome design commission done for me by airu. I highly recommend checking out her work!
