Depending where it needs to be altered, it can be done in two spots. Going down the back seam will widen the back and going along the belly seams in the front. You''d essentially undone the seams on eaither side of the tan, split the back, put it on, and pattern out the pieces you needed to fill in :) if the arm pit is too small, a diamond shape wedge can be put into place (or a strip long enough to fill the arm seam with a triangular end to taper back it's the body). The crotch can be lowered with a wedge, material added to the wrists and legs. I should really do a tutorial some time.
