Inali was kind enough to give me permission to use some of her line art to practice my woodburning. Here is the result: A Ciaran bust burned onto a very nice piece of wood with the bark still attached on the outside. I've been looking for something special to use this piece for and vola!

I'm getting a bit better at burning...not having as many instances of blotchiness (where the burner rests on the wood for too long and makes a big dark dot. I did mess up when I transferred the name the first time and had to sandpaper it off and start again...hopefully I did a good enough job getting rid of the old name that its not too noticeable. I think the thing I need to practice the most is my shading techniques...being able to create realistic shading and not the blotchy mess that usually results.

I hope you like Inali! These pictures are before I lacquered the piece ('cuz I figured it would be clearer like this) Its in the process of being lacquered right now. I debated about staining the wood, but was worried it would be too dark and I'd lose some of the detail. I'm not sure if I have your new address, Inali, so send me a note with it so I can send you this when its complete!
