"A good novel tells us the truth about its hero; but a bad novel tells us the truth about its author."-- G.K. Chesterton, Heretics
Be sure to place the link for your completed story in the comments section of this post so we can find it.
You might consider making your own TP icon to announce your story as such. Readers watch for this and will respond.
If you do to participate in the Thursday Prompt remember that it is good form to read your fellow writers. If you wish to give a critique ask if the writer wishes one and then send it along in a private note.
Always remember: we are all writers together.
This week’s prompt is given to us by a random word generator: assembling
This week's offering brings back some of the characters appearing in my previous work, and as a sequel to The Final Chart.
Also: what is the proverb referenced here?

"What happened today? Nothing happened today. Did anything happen to you, Keleyah?"Meh, you have to work for a living. I didn't see anything that said it had to be turned in by the end of class.
I get it done as I can. These days, the thought of anything long just is not possible. Soon... soon...

I know, I know. I've been working on these bits the past couple of cycles to break the writer's block I developed working on the big Fen and Chip story.
Very good! In the future we have AI, interstellar travel, sentient furries—but that better mousetrap is still a dream. ^+^
Malya just ordered two cases of TNT, a rocket-powered hoverboard and an anvil...
There's a short indy game out there called RUMU where you play as a little vacuum robot. It is only slightly different from your mousetrap.
2 hours, a great soundtrack, and a very disturbing story later, I've come to see tiny autonomous floor robots in a different light. Your story does nothing to help this trend. I feel a terrible desire to put on shoes...

Super, run with it!
In the immortal words of New York Governor Theodore Roosevelt, “I have always been fond of the West African proverb: ‘Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far'.”

Oh, I'm glad I didn't just get out of surgery or something; I would'a slit a stitch!
Infectious weaponized laughter.
You are really operating as my creative muse tonight.
