The air cracked with the sound of lanterns crashing into muddy streets, fire spouting in flashes that kindles and burned to life on the thatch and wooden houses of the sleepy village. The fire grew and spread in the chaos on the streets, villagers running scared for their lives, for their sanity. They knew from the sound of infernal clopping that one of the collectors had arrived in their village. They were dark servants of the rubbermancer Queen Kauko who rounded up innocents with the intention to make them into playthings for her amusement. "Hear ye meaningless peasants," The collector hollered out from the town center, it's voice a scraggly mischievous tone. "I have arrived. Do well to line up in the village square and become rubberized for my Queen's amusement, or I shall release the jackets on you hiding cowards!"
Hazard was hiding on the outskirts of town. In a look out tower he huddled behind a crate clutching his bow He had agreed to keep watch through the night since the village was short on guardsmen with the last raid that happened, but he only agreed for the warm bed and hearty meal they provided. The ranger had no clue that a collector was coming, if he had he would have kept well away from this village, hell this countryside for that matter. "Ranger! To town quickly, the people need you!" Came a call from down below. Hazard didn't respond. "Ranger?" A few more moments of quiet. "Damn, they already got the ranger! Gather the rest of the militia, we have to protect the townsfolk!" Hazard heard the clatter of armor as the soldiers below left.
"Crap crap crap crap crap how can they just go in there?! Don't they know about the collectors?" Hazard began to pack his gear in a hurry. "They put you in their wicked living straitjackets that molest and torture you day and night. They put you on display for corrupted rubbermancers that use your body as their plaything. They violate every part of your body and soul and mind until you're a broken shell. I'm not sticking around for that!" The last of his things packed Hazard strung his bow over his shoulder and descended the stairs down the tower. Less than a mile away into the heart of the village fires raged and screams echoed into the night. "I'll make my way out of this land, it's already lost to the rubbermancers. Maybe I can find solace in the next kingdom over, at least for a while."
"Help!" The single solitary cry of a child rose above the other screams and flames. Hazard heard the wail for help and a subsequent crying and stopped in his tracks. He shivered in the cold of the night, the far off fire warming his back as he was turned to run.
"Dammit." Throwing his pack down Hazard withdrew his bow. "I... I have to do this. I have to at least try." Hazard rushed into a mad dash drawing his bow. "I have to at least try!"
Several minutes later.
"Mmmmnph!" Hazard struggled as hard as he could, knowing though it was useless. His jacket held his arms crushingly tight to his chest, the gag so filling his mouth that he sputtered and struggled to breath. The long sentient rubber straps from his jacket pulled him unerringly into the back of the prisoner wagon that the collector drove.
"Hehe...heroes. They all end the same." Cackled the collector.

Definitely a bit out there, but in a fun way! Who needs thugs when you have attack-jackets?
