Peacocks have come up in a couple of pieces I've painted recently, and both times I've been surprised at just how bombastic their colors really are. I mean, I remember in the abstract that their necks and heads are shiny blue, but then I'll go get a reference photo or two and be reminded that it's like nuclear blue.
