I visited a friend from back home that I've known for almost all of my life. He has always been one of my strongest supporters, constantly pushing me to try new things with music, and has shared a stage with me numerous times. It took him years of practice to sing on-key, drum on-beat...it was all hard work for him. It was all so natural and easy for me, and yet somehow with all his hard work and effort he was always the one pushing ME.
I visited in September...and he'd gotten rid of almost all of his instruments. He has a baby on the way, and said that all of that was fun but he needed to start being more realistic.
His fire went out while I was two states away...so I wrote him a song, because it's the only thing I could think of that might put that little spark back. I hope he cried as much when he heard it as I did the first time I sang it.
I hope you'll enjoy it too.
