More will be on their way very soon.
A tutorial on how to do very simple staff spinning, I'll be upping the ante on these at some point. And teaching some more advanced contact staff moves, along with some Poi moves too.
the staff I got from firetoys and is a 120cm contact staff with a fibreglass grip.
was made whilst waiting for my Hague MMC steadycam to show up, a review of that will be up ASAP.
don't know who the ladder belonged to... Хобби
I have been at this for about 4 days, thinking I was doing it correctly until I saw your video. The text you added into your video. "DON'T SWAP YOUR HANDS AROUND! Yes you. You know who you are." Made me realize I was doing it wrong. So thanks for that!!
''Just stick your other hand in and hope for the best.''
Absolutely brilliant confidence building technique right there.
Seriously though, great video, cheers.
Really wonderful tutorial. My best friend and husband spin poi so I wanted to learn staff. Having never picked up a staff before I got these down in hours. My hands and wrists are super mad at me, but otherwise, I feel awesome about it. Thanks for the wonderful tutorial! Can't wait for more great vids!
I just stumbled across this video again and I gotta say this was the origin point for me. I was trying to figure out how to start doing a basic rotor and your video is what helped make it all click. Thank you for this.
Thanks for coming back and letting me know!
I watched yours because it was shorter than the other tutorials.… Wow, you are fast. Many thanks!
Thx for starting this series. loving the flow in your dialogue, keeping a sense of humour well creating a brief and informative tutorial... I look forward to more lessons from afar
finally a vid where something new is showed, since ive got all the basics down already theres just nothing else to learn it feels, thanks for showing tricks that i really didnt knew before!
I know this was a fad for many young people however I have just decided to do this and want to learn everything before I light a staff. People like you are saving me from being foolish in the things I will do. *Thank you very much for taking the time* to show people the basics and show me (us?) how to Be Safer.
I wonder how much the local cops will freak out, and if having tons of safety measures in place will ease their concerns (large wet towel or blanket, bucket of water, fire extinguisher, hair pinned to my head, nowhere near anything flammable other than myself, etc, etc). In the middle west of the United States I must discover How Illegal this is :)
"Stick your other hand in half way through and hope for the best". Love it. Thanks for the video.
I loved this video. Need to learn this as quick as possible!! Greetings from Portugal!
Muito bacana o vídeo.Sem rodeios e vai direto ao ponto de interesse
@@COSME90 este fim de semana vou pôr em pratica !
@@anapaulavilhena6327 Bom treino pra vc
Thank you so much. I am 17 and i am a very paranoid teen and i've turned to self defense to calm my fears. The bo-staff has become my favorite and best self defense tool and it helps when i find good teachers to show me how to do it right.
Good example option. Playfully practical.
thank you so much somanyninjarobotmen you rock so much this is my favorite tutorial on the internet. I only picked a staff up for the first time a week ago and these have helped so much. Please please please can we have more of them :)
been working on front spin for a while, this is probably the fastest and easiest variation I have seen.
Thanks for this. It looks so cool... I will use this video for getting the hang of it, for sure.
Hey, This is really awesome what you're doing! I've been trying to learn this on my own all summer, But it's really hard when you have no-one to teach you how too.Last night i found you're video's and it's help me out alot. Thank you so much for these video's!~
My boyfriend does fire spinning as a hobbie and I tried it for the first time tonight. I did ok, but I wanted to practice and surprise him. Thanks for the cool video. I can't wait till we go again so I can show off :p
Really helpful video. Understated and stylish.
Had to watch this slowed down to 0.25 :') but I've learnt it. Thanks a lot man :D I've just started 5 days ago and I'm falling in love with spinning
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skill. I practise a martial art and weapons, including Bo, are part of it. Yours is inspiring. Hopefully I might even show some facility and progress. Thanks again.
I would recommend measuring from the floor to your shoulders for your first staff for the best length. I bought a fire staff off home of poi and it's weighted brilliantly. It's not too heavy, but is stable enough to control properly. If you where going to buy an LED staff there is home of poi, flow toys, and others if you search google for staffs/poi/fire equipment or light toys. Hope this helps. Happy spinning :)
I have a wooden rod, with wooden balls on the end. It's a curtain rod, but I have to use it till I get my actual Bo.
great tutorial, hope to see some more soon since I would to practice some more advanced techniques....
Very helpful and finished with some inspiration :)
Thanks for this tutorial, I just went out and learnt the wrist roll and added the extra spin :)
Really good and helpful instruction, thanks.
And everyone: remember practicing both sides.
Thanks for the video, didn't know the option of rolling it over your thumb, gonna try that tomorrow.
i feel like im watching a flight attendant do the safety checks haha good video though
Thanks a lot man! I'm starting now, can't wait to practice, practice, practice.
This is a GREAT tut. Thank you so much.
This is really good stuff. The pace is perfect for a beginner like myself. The only downer was that there was only one vid.
thanks for video bro. is my first week whit fire stuff I will practice it today :)
hope for more lesson from you!!
regards.
I finally had the money to buy my staff so I'm just getting into this can you please make more videos?? This video is soooo helpful!
Thanks for this great tut! Very helpful for me :)

Hey thanks for making these video tutorials still trying to get the one handed turn so I'm way behind lol but keep then coming please
No pienso manejar fuego en algún momento, pero estoy realmente ansioso de ser capaz de girar un palo como él!! Sólo necesito constancia y seguir practicando.
Hi, love the video! Can you recommend how to pick the right size staff please? Tracey x
I'm wondering the same thing. I've been wanting to buy a staff and not sure what size to purchase.
+Karen Yvonne hi both. there's things you need to consider. longer and heavier = better for contact, smaller = easier to spin. out of standard sizes I'd be tempted to go for a 1200mm /120 cm staff as it's the middle ground. if you want to play on expert get a smaller staff to start with. if you can do well with a smaller staff then when you upgrade to something bigger it'll be a lot easier.
Gotcha : ) My staff spinning experience is strictly martial arts -related, so I wasn't sure if, for some reason, that was the default spin direction in the fire-spinning community. Cheers
wow!! Thanks for your video.
Hug of Brasil
Awesome skills!
Thanks man if helped a lot I still needed to go the the add because I broke my nose on the pole but I'm doing a lot better ;)
Dr
watching it on 50% speed was really useful :)
hey this is awesome. do you have any more videos?
My friends do that! One of them does staff. They took me into the "team". They wanna teah me staff, cause the dude who does staff said later on that if I took the staff, lit it on fire and started doing stuff (slaps knee) the way I was, he saw some sort of connection between me and the staff so... They think I should be a busker with them. And do the staff...
So I'm here :D I can already spin it side to side. Like from left hand to right and back
Really great video's! started out with a stick from a broom xD and now upgraded to a contact staff from firetoys.co.uk, keep it up! Love from Holland!
SoManyNinjaRobotMen , When you teach how to rotor, is the beginning bit just a step to learning how to rotor properly? And when you say "we'll add another turn in by passing it over the thumb on the second hand" at 1:16, is that when you do a proper rotor?
yeah, pretty much, at 1:16 you get the maximum spin for the least effort, I know rotor as a different move, but yeah.
Thank you for the video.
Do you always spin left-handed, or are you doing a "mirror me" sort of thing for the tutorial?
Things I need to get down before cosplaying Oberyn Martell,
Great stuff
Very nice
I like this a lot.
Yey I just got the same staff just it's 1,5 meter long. Learning your moves! Great Vid i'm totally inlove with contact staff! Can you give me advice to get better starting at 0 dude...
very cool, i also want to konw if it can be done with just one hand?
great tips.
Very cool.
Hey mate, love the video! My first question is how do you determine what length staff is right for you? Im about 5'8 and recently got a 5" staff. Its a a little too long to do alot of the moves ive seen in your videos, well that could be my doubt talking also haha
Roberto thanks for tour vidéos You know How can u build My own contact stuff?
Keep posting vids!
I lost my shit at the end that was fucking sick lol....
Thanks for the video. I must say it's not easy not shifting your arms. its hard keeping them criss crossed any advice besides keep practicing lol
start off super slow and don't try anything with the thumbs to start with. Also as the one forearm twist the other will too, Try without the staff and it will look like someone miming a bird flying. that's about it really
Love you sir! :)
Can you do this using aikido staff? I only have aikido staff. I wonder if the rotation can be that smooth without using weight on its ends.
does having weight at the ends of the stick play an important role in moves like these, or can they be done (By the proficient) on any stick/staff they pick up?
The weights on the end will give you grip and also slow the staffs 'roll'. The longer the staff the slower it will spin. I'm sure that anyone can do these moves with a broomstick (I can do these moves with a tiny 1 metre light doubles staff) I also think that doing it with something light will help your technique, however the time spent faffing with it is non proportional to the gains you get, it's also just not as fun
Hey , so I'm trying to figure out how to spin it without crossing over my hands and I'm having trouble. It's very strange , is it anything like colorguard spinning or is it different ?
hey,i live in India i have no idea where to purchase the fire staff from meanwhile what is the best to practice with?
Keep up the good work,
looking forward to more video made by YOU.
My friend makes amazing firestaffs but I am not here to advertise so if your interested let me know.
Keep up the effective work and stay ambitious
thanks i thought it was a great tutorial 😁🥀

Was thinking more of what kind of staff to get, where to get it, etc :p
Pls more tutorials 🥺
whats a good thing to practice with should use a broom handle and take the broom off
SoManyNinjaRobotMen
i ended up buying my self a staff was only $60 but iv been lazy with practice
dat ending o.o, that is my goal
Yes, with that video =)
I came across this so i could learn to spin a Rave staff for my performances on stage, you were a bit fast but. teaching all the same
Hey guys! Check out my staff spinning tutorial! I go over 4 simple moves that are easy and look great!
Any chance you could do it slow motion ;)
Never spun a staff. Any recommendations on where to start?
that feeling when u destroyed your phone while spinning staff wrongly
Great skills, but too fast. Need a really slow step by step version for us slower folk.
I used slow motion, it worked.
play it at .25 speed. Helped me!
Make episode 2 please
I like this video because the guy looks like Zach Galifianakis
How many inches is your stick?
Anybody answer this please. Is this the same as the bo staff spinning? or is this completely different?
where can you get one of these fire spinning staffs
I still dont get what hes doing with his hands like i try it and my staff hands move up the staff every spin
You have to spin, skip a rotation, then grab. Spin, Skip, Grab. Spin, Skip Grab. Keep your left hand above your right hand always. Don't switch them!
wow
Me I don't spin like this . But , that's nice
"Hope for the best" xD
Or is that just the way it goes...?
I have a metal staff
Lmao awesome
zack galifianakis teaches spinning
"Basic"
