Another new character!

This year I have been very nervous, for a bunch of different reasons, to share my personal characters. I share bits and pieces between Patreon, my streams, and some groups I'm in, and I've had people ask me about them more and more... So I'm getting fed up with letting myself keep hiding away, haha. Starting now, I'm committing to opening up about them more.

You may remember these airedale sketches I did a few months back. I mused at the time that he might be a nutritionist and a friend for Paige, and he's... well, those aren't not true? I'll get to that, haha.

Blaine is smart and particular, well-read (even a bit pedantic), and generally a bit peculiar. Hes keeps very much to himself, but tries not to come off as uncaring - his standards for who he'll open up to are just rather high. If he ever agrees to meet with you, please, whatever you do, don't be late.

I don't have too much set in stone regarding his home or day-to-day, but I'm really enjoying this guy. What started with Paige has developed into an entire story setting that I'm working on now, with my partners Moltengoldart and ShadderStag providing lots of inspiration and help. So far I've decided it's modern-day, alternate earth kind of setting, with Paige, Blaine, Brooke, and some other dogs you haven't met yet!

Back to Blaine, he is a master compartmentalist. He has his friends, he has a healthy work and social life, but he is also cold and violent, when he finds it necessary. He has a criminal history, and one of his closest friends happens to be a crime lord, though he would never admit it to you.

Most importantly, though, Blaine occasionally eats his fellow dog.

This actually started as a "what if" kind of joke, but I should know better than to make those, haha. I was saying in a stream that I wanted to explore some darker themes, but I couldn't imagine doing it with Paige, because he's adorable and I like his fluffy story. But I joked about doing it indirectly, or through the fourth wall; "Maybe we get to meet Paige's nutritionist. He's gone to him for years, and the guy is a little strict and weird, but he knows his stuff. What Paige never finds out, though, is that the guy's obsessed with nutrition because he's a cannibal."

And then I woke up one morning and had this character. The idea just blossomed when I wasn't looking, and now I can't imagine him any other way.

I also joked about him maybe working in a restaurant, haha. While that didn't stick, he is a foodie, and a skilled home chef... though that has surprisingly little to do with his choice of guilty pleasure!

That's enough for now! I've written more about him, but I want to save some for later :)
