Author’s Note: This story, as with A Cut Above the Rest, was written before I began proper work on The PokéPoof Project. As such, it has elements that might be considered (thus far) non-canon, namely the presence of electronics like televisions and cameras. Consider them to be fun Pokemon-themed side stories of a possible future for my bizarre Alternate-Universe.
It wasn't that Arcanine disliked his treatment—quite the opposite, really, not that he'd ever admit to such a thing—rather it was the fact that he felt he really shouldn't be enjoying it. Not on a level of it being taboo (it was) or strange (most definitely) or even that he was worried he enjoyed it a little too much (did he ever), but rather something deeper and more primal.
Arcanines were supposed to regal, imposing, even awe-inspiring. He'd seen his master's strange moving picture box, flickering images of Arcanines fighting alongside noble defenders of the weak, standing proud in the face of injustice and water-types (oh, how he dreaded the first minutes of bath time before his natural body heat warmed the water to something more comfortably scalding).
He yipped in amusement of a young Growlithe's playful antics, growl when the villain dared show their face, and howled in tandem with the heroic Pokémon when they received a timely Fire Stone (always at the right moment, unlike his own).
And then his master would lean over from their couch and rub his diaper with a smile. Gentle, caring, they were only doing it to ensure he was kept clean. That didn't stop the wash of embarrassment from being checked and pleasure at being so lovingly cared for from commandeering his thoughts, though.
Words were said, but the only ones his ears perked up from their docile laid-flat position were, "Change time." It was a simple statement of fact, lacking the strength of a command. The Arcanine pounced on that weakness with his most powerful ability, the one not even his master could stand against.
"Arrrrr..." he whined, belly to the ground as he pointedly looked between his master and the picture box, which had just now reached he favorite part. He couldn't possibly miss Artie the Arcanine defeat the dreaded Edgar Empoleon, especially since he had dutifully watched it the last two-four paws without fail (and would always regret that one time they'd been pulled away early).
His master laughed and waved towards the box, words unneeded to say, 'Okay, but right after this!' Tail wagging, he put the crinkling sound and mushing feeling out of mind as he settled back down; there were more important things to pay attention to right now, after all!
He lowered his head, being careful to always keep his eyes on the TV, and picked up his favourite chewing toy (a squeaky version of Edgar), and began absentmindedly suckling it. Maybe his old owner had evolved him too early to be like Artie the Arcanine, but being a puppy for his master was almost as good.
Brush Brush...Pat
...And maybe even better.

Sounds like a pupper that should have been given an everstone instead of a fire stone. Very cute short story backup! I've been really enjoying the series you have so far. My main complaint, if any, is that it just always isn't enough. I want more! :P
In seriousness though, you have a really good setup for an AU here. I am curious on how the legendaries will react when they find out what's happening.

Hmm, he might have preferred that at the time, yes.
And I'm glad you're enjoying them. Hopefully I'll have something a bit more substantial out soon~
And I'm interested to see how they'll react, too! I've got some things in mind, but there's a lot yet I need to puzzle out before I reach that point. Can't put the cart before the Blitzle, after all.

Glad to hear it. Just gotta get past some writer's block to work on the next project.
Many thanks, hope the next ones are even more enjoyable~
