Bet you guys where wondering what happened to Staa, right? After all she hasn't posted anything here in a long time, and right now I'm not posting anything because I'm still blocked. So here you go!. I generally don't want to post non-furry art in this gallery but I liked this enough to want to show it off.
There is a bit of a story behind this though. This was an experiment of Staa's at a style of digital painting that involves using a sillouhette and then painting in the details and shading using only the selection lassoo and the hard gradient brush. No actual line art was involved in the making of this, and it was all done almost entirely on one layer in the course of about three or four hours with coffee and gibberish breaks inbetween (very important part of any project, those are).
We actually got talking about this because Staa thinks my main problem at the moment is that I'm too fussy about my initial sketches and lineart. She had me go through some of the old Team Fortress 2 artwork, pointing out how the artists use fairly simplistic gradient brush and selection to get the images looking good without actually using any proper lineart first. If I had to describe it I'd say it's a bit like moulding clay...or painting acrylic?
So yeah. Go and enjoy some of Staa's art while I try to get over my own block. *emo corner sulk*
And no, he does not look like Johnny, Riley, Hazama or any of the other billion similar hat-and-coat wearing gentlemen you see running around in games and anime.
