General Koichiro Hazama: Lieutenant Itami?
Lt Itami Yoji: Sir?
Gen Hazama: I have a new special assignment for you that is a bit different that the ones your used to.
Lt Itami: Sir?
Gen Hazama: 16th squad of group four reports sighting some armored elements of unknown origin, and I would like you to investigate.
Lt Itami: [puzzled look] Another Recon mission, right sir?
Gen Hazama: Affirmative, but a bit different than the ones you've been on so far. 16th squad reports the unknowns are about 15 kliks southeast of Alnus hill, and just who they are, and what they're doing there is unknown to us. We need intell and we need it yesterday, that's why you're going to investigate.
Lt Itami: Unknown, sir?
Gen Hazama: Correct. Photos taken from one of our Ninja Recon heli states the registry numbers on the tanks in question were purposely blurred out and unintelligible even with maximum hardware and software zoom. I've already talked with Intelligence and they seem to believe the tanks in question are neither from our American allies, nor Russian or Chinese for that matter... however the fact remains that they being that close to Alnus hill is a threat, and one that we must sort out as quickly as possible. Is that understood, Lt Itami?
Lt Itami: Yes sir, but how sure are we those tanks aren't ours, just like the abandoned ones from battle group three that ran out of diesel three clicks Northwest of us, in the direction of Italica, sir?
Gen Hazama: That's because, Lieutenant, there are different models besides the Type-74 seen in this photo taken by Ninja Recon. [throws a photo on the table in front of Yoji] You see there, those appear to be 2nd generation M48 Patton tanks between the Type-74... but those aren't the real problem.
Lt Itami: Sir?
Gen Hazama: Take a closer look at that gray one at the head of the column. It's unusual is it not?!
Lt Itami: Okay sir, they're clearly not one of ours.
Gen Hazama: And according to Intell... They aren't American, even though those ARE Pattons. So you see why I need you to find out as much about these tanks as you can, as quickly as you can! If it turns out the Americans have somehow sneaked a few elements past our guards in Ginza, who's to say they haven't already snuck in other elements aimed at wrestling control of "the gate" away from us, and naturally by extension, wrestle away control of "the special region" away from the JSDF and Japan as a whole?!
Lt Itami: [stern look] That is a problem Sir!... Maybe one as big as the "Empire" or worse!...
Gen Hazama: Exactly!!! We have no idea who they are, or how many... and the fact remains that those appear to be fully operational tanks that could pose a problem for us when we, the JSDF, should be the only ones here in the Special Region to have tanks...
Lt Itami: I'll ready my squad for immediate action Sir!
Gen Hazama: Good!... Oh and one more thing Lieutenant.
Lt Itami: Sir??
Gen Hazama: Considering the unknowns you'll be up against are tanks, I'll have Colonel Hajime of battle group two standing by with three squads of Type-74 as your backup, but your primary task is gather intell... You're clear to engage if fired upon but above all else, gather intell discreetly and report back your findings as soon as possible. Is that clear, Lieutenant?
Lt Itami: Yes sir! And if I may?
Gen Hazama: Yes Lieutenant?
Lt Itami: How much longer Sir, until the arrival of the second Imperial wave of cavalry and infantry reaches Alnus hill?
Gen Hazama: Group four's aerial scouts estimates a week, but I need you to get intell on those unknown tanks within four days. Understood Itami? I want some time buffer to prepare some sort of secondary action against that cell of armor Southeast of us, in case they attempt something while the Imperials engage their second assault on us.
Lt Itami: Understood Sir, I'll mobilize immediately! [salutes]
Gen Hazama: Thank you Itami, that will be all. [return salutes]
Unknown to General Hazama and Alnus hill command and naturally by extension the rest of JSDF and Japan Intelligence, is that the cell of tanks in question are neutral in origin, and mean no harm to either Japan or the JSDF. However until Lieutenant Yoji Itami learns this, Hazama and special region command must treat the mystery cell of tanks as hostiles... much to the Nezumi's chagrin...
Due to unfavorable weather, Lt Itami and his squad were only able to reach the mystery column of tanks a day late, putting more pressure on Itami to figure out who the mystery cell were and what of their goals? Additional pressure came when Itami reached the last know location of the mystery cell, only to find it had moved, and the tracks appeared to be headed to the Northwest... Not at Alnus hill as everyone had greatly feared, but instead aimed more directly towards Italica township. Why would they do that if the mystery tanks were believed American, possibly CIA in origin when an impending Imperial attack would draw every attention and unit from Alnus command away from the South flank and leave it vulnerable to an opposing armored lance which this mystery group comprised of, and lend itself to an easy chaos ploy which the supposed CIA could then exploit and allow them to take possession of the gate away from the JSDF to allow more mystery cells to infiltrate the Special Region for take over?
It all made no sense... and time was running out!
This is a bit of a self insert into the story of "Gate" specifically the anime version of the manga novel by Takumi Yanai.

General Koichiro Hazama and now Lieutenant Yoji Itami believe Team Nezumi are aligned with the American CIA and are there in the "Special Region" to disrupt JSDF operations and possibly take over control of the gateway between this parallel world and the Ginza region in Japan so that American can benefit from possession of "the special region's" bounty of resources.
In actual fact the Nezumi are there for a different reason. One which will become clear in another installment of my self insert into the world of "Gate" at a later date. :XD:
If anything, this Mary Sue self insert into the world of "Gate" was a nice way for me to introduce my newly made and now freshly detailed and painted JGSDF Mitsubishi Type-74 main battle tank models along with my Pattons and my own home brewed special tank known as Rachel the Rattechen modernenpanzerkampfwagen.
I am pleasantly surprised at how well my Type-74 have turned out, and given a little more time to ensure no errors exist, I aim to release my model as freeware sketchup via the warehouse and here on dA as well in the form of a zipped folder, just as I have done with a few other models before.
Anyhow I hope you like this!
