NUTS and BOLTS
Great with good beer or something to nibble on as trail mix
Make great gifts if put into decorative, well sealed, jars.
Basic Mix
300g Nutri-grain
375 g peanuts or other nuts or mixed nuts. I use salted.
375g sultanas
1 pack French onion soup
1 pack Cream of chicken soup
1 teaspoon curry powder
1 teaspoon mustard powder.
3/4 cup warmed good quality olive oil (1 min in microwave)
My mix
Included salted cashew nuts, pepitas, pine nuts, pistachio nuts instead of peanuts.
And for the fruit element I had sultanas and dried cranberries
Method
Mix in a large bowl.
Stir well, so that all is coated, best if you let it sit overnight for the flavours to develop
Store in airtight containers when cool.
Optional Instructions (I don’t bother but some prefer to do this)
Spread onto baking try lined with baking paper
Bake for 15-20 minutes on 180C stirring every 5 minutes
Store in airtight containers when cool
Alterations, Additions and Suggestions
Pre roast all nuts and seeds
Other nuts and seeds such as cashew, pine nuts, walnuts, pepitas, sunflower seeds or pistachio nuts
Add cut up additional dried fruit like cranberries, apricots, peaches, crystallized ginger, pawpaw and apple
Use a flavour infused olive oil like garlic or other herbs
Use melted butter and Worcestershire sauce instead of oil
