Kat stood on the balcony of the Beast's castle and sighed, words the hybrid spoke not even an hour ago kept echoing in his mind,
"Dio, I won't let you take Belle, nor Zero!"
it hadn't been too long since his encounter with the heartless vampire Dio Brando, and it was from that encounter that Zero, a girl he recently met, got kidnapped despite his best efforts against Dio. Though part of Kat was happy since he successfully recruited both Beast and Mercenary, his failure to save Zero soured his mood. As Kat kept contemplating how he'd go about rectifying his mistake, Panthro approached him from behind,
"Kat?" Panthro inquired, Kat looked over his shoulder to see the old thundercat,
"Oh, hey Panthro, did you get Winston's Ready Gate set up?" Kat asked, initially Kat wanted to help Panthro set up the device, but Panthro insisted that he could do it himself, Panthro nodded in response to Kat's question,
"Yep, it just needs a little time to warm up," Panthro explained as he walked over to Kat's side. Kat noticed that Panthro seemed to be shaking a bit as he looked over the balcony,
"Are you ok?" Kat asked,
"Uh, remember when we were going through that cave and I told you I couldn't swim and I was afraid of bats?" Panthro asked,
"Yeah?" Kat replied,
"I forgot to mention, I’m also afraid of heights…” Panthro explained,
“Oh, well we can go inside and talk if you want,” Kat offered,
“Nah, it’s alright, I can just keep my mind off it, but enough about me, you seem troubled, what’s wrong buddy?” Panthro asked, Kat sighed,
"I just can't stop thinking about Zero, who knows what the Syndicate might do to her?" Kat asked rhetorically,
"You can't let one mistake weigh you down, beating yourself up over Zero being captured isn't going to save her, besides, it wasn't entirely your fault, don't forget that Zero went after Dio even when she knew it was dangerous," Panthro reminded Kat,
"I guess so…" Kat replied,
"Besides, you weren't the only one to goof today, someone who was undoubtedly in cahoots with Dio stole a very powerful spell book from the library right under our noses, if Mercenary, Beast and I took care of those wolves just a little faster we might have caught the culprit, but since we didn't, that spell book is in someone else's clutches, and I'm willing to bet my left eye that the someone is the Syndicate… but we can't get hung up on mistakes, an important part of being a hero is learning from your mistakes and doing your absolute best to make sure they don't happen again," Panthro explained. Panthro then put his large hand on Kat's head and ruffled his dark hair in an oddly reassuring way,
"We'll find Zero, don't worry," Panthro assured,
"But how? There are countless worlds to check, it'll be like finding a needle in a haystack…" Kat commented,
"Well how did you know Zero's grimoire was in the castle library?" Panthro asked,
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you about my new ability didn't I?" Kat asked rhetorically.
Kat then took a minute to tell Panthro about his newly acquired Mirror Vision ability,
"So… Belle gave you the ability?" Panthro asked,
"Yeah… well no, it was more like a manifestation of Belle that appeared on her Station of Awakening… I know, it's confusing" Kat explained,
"I've dealt with confusing things before, although that sounds like a really useful ability you got, it can be a huge help to us on missions," Panthro commented,
"Keep in mind I can only use it once per day," Kat replied,
"Yeah that's true, though regarding your earlier concern on how we can find Zero when there are so many worlds to check, you may not know this, but heroes deal with finding missing people all the time, there's a building in Hikari City that has loads of resources that heroes can use for a number of problems, including a missing person report," Panthro explained,
"Will that even help?" Kat asked,
"Don't underestimate the power of Hikari City's resources, every good hero goes to them for assistance, and for good reason, they're simply the best there is, plus while we're in Hikari City we can get Beast and Mercenary registered, so that'll be two birds with one stone," Panthro explained. Kat pondered for a bit,
"Well… alright Panthro, I trust you, I can't wait to reunite with the others then go to Hikari City," Kat replied,
"That's the spirit pal, and we can go first thing tomorrow, it's been a long day," Panthro replied.
Hours later within the castle belonging to the Syndicate of Malevolence, Mumm-Ra kept Zero shackled in a drab cell room with enchanted cuffs that restrained her magical power,
"Are you enjoying the accommodations my dear?" Mumm-Ra asked mockingly,
"I won't be staying here for long, I know my Mercenary has already begun his search for me," Zero retorted,
"Oh I'm sure, though I'm also sure it'll take him years to find the world the castle is located, and even if he does, there's no guarantee that he'll get past the countless vicious beasts that roam around the castle, though by then we'll long since decide what we're going to do to you," Mumm-Ra replied,
"You have no idea who you're dealing with," Zero commented,
"Oh but I do, I've kept powerful magic users under my thumb before, if you're ever in Thundera ask about the fate of Jaga," Mumm-Ra explained,
"Your taunts mean as much to me as taunts I would hear from a toddler," Zero replied,
"You have a sharp tongue, we'll see how well you talk back when I decided what I want to put you through," said Mumm-Ra as he began to take his leave,
"Oh, though perhaps you also have faith in the Anthros to save you, I should warn you, they're just as useless to help as your muscular tiger man," Mumm-Ra explained mockingly before he took his leave. Zero stared at the dusty floor, and thought back to her battle with Kat, how he managed to not only surprise her, but defeat her, with Kat on Zero's mind, she drew a clover symbol on the floor with her finger,
"If you underestimate Kat and my mercenary you've already lost," said Zero to herself.
Elsewhere in the castle, Morgana, the dangerous if childish and snarky pictomancer who holds loyalty to Emperor Grumm, was taking a casual stroll around the castle. Morgana jumped a bit as Dio suddenly appeared behind her,
"Hello Morgana," Dio greeted casually,
"Dio? Why do you approach me?" Morgana asked,
"I'd like to ask for your assistance," Dio explained,
"With what?" Morgana inquired,
"As you might've learned, I recently acquired a spell book that can allow me to bring back my fallen stand users, though the problem is that the spell requires many strange and rare ingredients," Dio explained, Morgana raised an eyebrow,
"Ok? But why are you telling me this?" Morgana asked,
"I want you to gather the ingredients for me," Dio explained,
"What?! Why me?" Morgana asked in confusion,
"You can create creatures that can serve you right? With them you can gather the ingredients for me without ever leaving the castle," Dio explained, Morgana thought about it,
"I mean, I suppose I could but… what's in it for me?" Morgana asked as she crossed her arms,
"You want to become younger again right? I know of a stand user who can grant your wish, though he died a long time ago, so the only way he can grant your wish is if he was brought back to life," Dio explained, Morgana's eyes widened upon hearing Dio's explanation,
"Really?! You can turn me young again? You can turn me into Mora?" Morgana asked excitedly,
"Yes," Dio replied with a smile,
"The guy you're talking about… is he the first guy you want to bring back?" Morgana asked,
"Second, there's someone I want to bring back more than anyone else, but I must confirm that the spell works first, he'll be the third," Dio explained,
"Hmm… I suppose that would be a huge advantage to helping you… through Lord Grumm won't like this…" Morgana commented,
"Do you care?" Dio asked, Morgana paused for a moment before laughing,
"Not at all," Morgana replied,
"So you'll do it?" Dio asked, Morgana pondered for a bit,
"Hm…. Alright, what all do you need?" Morgana asked, Dio then got out the spellbook he and Van Bloot stole from the Beast's castle, and skimmed through it for the page detailing the instructions for the resurrection spell.
Back at the base of the Anthros of Justice, Kat and Panthro reunited with their allies, who gave a warm welcome to both Beast and Mercenary, then the next day the Anthros gathered in the Thundertank and made their way to Hikari City. After driving around for a few hours the Anthros had arrived in Hikari City, and Panthro parked in a lot that was connected to a gigantic, skyscraper sized building,
"Alright, here's the HR building," Panthro explained as he and the rest of the Anthros got out of the tank,
"Human Resources?" Kat inquired, Panthro shook his head,
"Hero Resources," Panthro replied, Doggie walked beside Panthro as he looked at the massive building,
"This building has served many heroes well for generations Kat, you're looking at a piece of history," Doggie explained without his gaze breaking from the building,
"Alright so here's the plan- Doggie and I will help get Mercenary and Beast registered, Jon, Sulley, and Leomon, you three help Kat file a missing persons report for Zero," Panthro instructed,
"That's really a four person job?" Jon asked,
"Well also it's a big place, and I wouldn't want Kat getting lost," Panthro explained,
"You can count on us Panthro," said Leomon,
"I don't usually file paperwork, but it shouldn't be too hard," Sulley assured Kat. Beast and Mercenary kept looking around, they were so used to living in simple environments that the expansive and technologically advanced Hikari City was simply breathtaking to them,
"What sort of sorcery is all this?" The beast inquired,
"It's not entirely sorcery big guy, most of this is technology at work," Panthro explained,
"Whatever it is, I hope we can leave this place soon, it's a bit too noisy for my taste," said Mercenary as he heard the busy city around them.
As the Anthros entered the HR building, Kat admired just how massive the place was, the lobby alone was several football fields wide, there were several heroes walking around, strewn around the room were large monitors, and interactable holograms, as well as several employees at desks to help any heroes who might need assistance. Kat hadn't been to Hikari City since he had gone through Uni's trial, though both the building he was currently in, and the building he went through his hero trial in made it clear to Kat that a good amount of buildings in Hikari City were ridiculously massive. Panthro turned towards Kat,
"Alright kitten, try not to wander off and get lost in this building," Panthro instructed,
"Kitten? Are you two dating?" Mercenary inquired, most of the group's eyes widened,
"What?! No! Why would you think that?" Panthro asked,
"It's just a friendly little nickname Panthro gave Kat," Doggie explained,
"Kind of sounds like a pet name," Mercenary commented, Kat blushed as Mercenary said what had been on the hybrid's mind for a while, Panthro turned towards Kat,
"Kat, does me calling you "kitten" sound awkward?" Panthro asked, Kat pondered for a bit, then shook his head,
"Nah, I think it sounds fine," Kat replied,
"But… what if people think we're in a relationship?" Panthro asked,
"Let them think that…" said Kat in a very quiet tone,
"What was that?" Panthro asked,
"Nothing," said Kat before he encouragingly pushed Panthro in the direction of the registration section,
"Come on now, I've never been to this building, but given the size and the amount of people here there's probably big lines, so the sooner you get into that, the sooner we can finish our business here," Kat explained,
"Ah, yeah you're right, alright then, stay out of trouble, and be sure to file that report," Panthro instructed,
Panthro, Doggie, Beast and Mercenary then made their way to the registration section of the building, leaving Kat, Jon, Leomon, and Sulley at the lobby. Kat looked around the massive building from where he stood,
"Where are Missing persons reports filed around here? I don't see any signs pointing to that section," Kat commented,
"They're handled on the third floor Kat, we have to go up," Sulley explained, Kat's eyes widened,
"Up?!... I mean yeah, I could see that this building has multiple floors from the outside, but this floor alone is like a couple acres wide, and the ceiling is like a thousand feet in the air," Kat commented,
"That's the nature of most buildings in Hikari City Kat, the architects were going for grand structures that breach the heavens," Leomon explained,
"Heh, maybe the bathroom in this place is the size of a motel," said Sulley jokingly, he and the other Anthros save for Jon shared a nice brief chuckle,
"The building is also quite large to accommodate larger heroes too, as such, the elevators and stairs were built with an insane amount of reinforcement, they could hold several elephants at once," Jon explained,
"Let's go find one of those heavy duty elevators then," Kat suggested,
'hopefully nothing trippy happens when we get on it,' Kat thought, still remembering the elevator he took in Uni's building.
A little later Kat, Jon, Leomon and Sulley were casually walking around the third floor in search of the section that dealt with missing persons reports,
"Aside from helping with finding missing people, another useful thing you can do on this floor is look up information about registered hero, that makes things easier if you wish to collaborate with a certain hero on a certain mission," Leomon explained,
"Oh wow, I definitely want to check that out," Kat replied,
"Focus Kat, we're here to file a report, that comes first, just stay with us, with how many people that are here right now you might get lost from us for hours, possibly days," Jon explained,
"With how high the ceiling is I could shoot a flare gun into the air in here so you guys can find me," Kat suggested jokingly,
"Do that, and I'll hit you on the head on Panthro's behalf," Jon warned,
"Relax wolfy, it was just a joke," Kat replied,
"The section we're after is just up ahead," Sulley explained,
"Say, aren't you guys one of the best hero teams around? I'm surprised you guys don't have a fanclub," Kat commented,
"Perhaps we do among the civilians across several of the worlds, but among our fellow heroes we're just ordinary people who do our best to make the worlds better-" said Leomon before he was cut off by a male hero,
"Hey! It's the Anthros of Justice!" Said the male hero excitedly, suddenly he and several other heroes ran towards the group. Poor Leomon was the first to get tackled to the ground by a stampede of adoring fans, followed by Jon, then Sulley,
"Oh no, am I next?!" Kat asked nervously before he looked around and realized that literally no one there was interested in him. Kat gave a sheepish smile and rubbed the back of his head,
"Heh, oh yeah, no one knows who I am yet," said Kat to himself, the large group of heroes swarmed the three Anthros as they attempted to get the large group off of them, some heroes asked for autographs, some asked to take some pictures of them while they were flexing, and several asked for tips on how to be better heroes,
"Our fan base among fellow heroes is bigger than I thought!" Said Leomon as he attempted to get several adoring heroes off of him,
"Kat! Head to the section and file the report, we'll meet up with you again later!" Sulley instructed,
"But… you told me to stay with you!" Kat replied,
"The plan has been compromised, just go on ahead and when you're done, meet us by the entrance!" Jon instructed, Kat was hesitant at first, but decided to follow the instructions of his fellow Anthros and keep walking,
"Alright then, good luck," said Kat as he continued towards the section that dealt with filing reports.
After making his way towards the section, and waiting in a fortunately short line, Kat talked with an assistant for a few minutes,
"It might be tricky to find her, all I know about her is what she looks like, and her first name… heck I don't even think she has a last name," Kat explained,
"No problem sir, we've tracked down people with less information than that, is this your first time at Heroes Resources?" The woman asked politely,
"Yeah…" Kat replied,
"Don't worry, you're in good hands," the woman assured with a friendly smile. After talking with the woman for a few more minutes, telling her everything about Zero that he could, and even providing a drawing of her, the report was successfully filed,
"Alright, the report is all set, we'll let you and your team know if we find anything," the woman explained,
"Thank you," said Kat as he got up from his chair and started walking away,
"Hope you find her," said the woman encouragingly before a hero who was in line behind Kat walked over to the woman since she once again became available.
As Kat was walking through the third floor he noticed a monitor that displayed a search engine that seemed to specify looking up heroes, there were a number of monitors like it on the floor Kat was on, while a few of them were being used by other heroes, the one in front of Kat was free to use,
"This must have been what Leomon was talking about earlier with looking up registered heroes," Kat thought to himself as he approached the monitor. Kuriboh appeared in his monster form beside Kat,
"Kuri Kuri?" Kuriboh inquired,
"I want to look up someone," Kat replied as he was about to input information on the monitor to help him search, though he stopped when he heard someone talk to him,
"Excuse me, are you a duelist?" The voice sounded male and had a bit of a brittish accent, Kat turned his head towards the voice to see a guy with spiky white hair, brown eyes, an aquamarine overshirt over a blue and white striped shirt, a pair of grey pants, and around his neck was some sort of golden charm that looked like a triangle with an eye symbol on it within a ring that had small golden cones dangling from the bottom. Seeing the guy's charm reminded Kat of Yugi's charm, though he decided to inquire about it after addressing the guy's question,
"A duelist? What do you mean?" Kat inquired, the guy pointed at Kuriboh,
"You have a duel monster following you," the guy explained, Kat looked at Kuriboh,
"Oh yeah, I guess I do… Kuriboh do you know this guy?" Kat inquired,
"Kuri Kuri," Kuriboh explained,
"Bakura?" Kat repeated inquiriously,
"Yep, that's me, wow, you can understand the Kuriboh?" Bakura inquired,
"Yeah, I sort of picked up his language over time," Kat explained,
"That's amazing! You must be a talented duelist if you can understand your monsters," Bakura commented,
"Monsters? As in more than one? Kuriboh is the only duel monster who travels with me, he's kind of like the mascot for our hero team," Kat explained, Kuriboh seemed to smile despite not having a visible mouth,
"Oh so you're a part of a hero team, that's amazing," Bakura commented,
"Yeah… but wait, if Kuriboh knew who you were, did you perhaps meet this guy named Yugi?" Kat asked,
"You could say that yeah, I'm a good friend of his," Bakura explained,
"That would explain why you both have golden charms with a strange eye symbol," Kat commented as he pointed towards Bakura's golden charm,
"Oh yes, my millennium ring, similar to Yugi's millennium puzzle… though I just realized, if that Kuriboh knows me, does that mean that Kuriboh is Yugi's Kuriboh?" Bakura asked,
"Yeah, a while ago Kuriboh decided to travel with me," Kat explained,
"That's amazing, though… you really aren't a duelist? Do you know how to make him stronger?" Bakura asked, Kat looked at Kuriboh with a puzzled expression,
"I… can make him stronger?" Kat asked,
"Of course! You can make any duel monster stronger with the right card," Bakura explained, Kat seemed intrigued by Bakura's explained, which caused Bakura to smile,
"Do you want me to teach you how?" Bakura offered, Kat nodded,
"Sure, I feel like that would be a helpful skill for me to know," Kat replied.
Kat and Bakura then went to a nearby table, and Bakura gave Kat a deck of duel monster cards. Most of the monsters were small and low level, and the spells and trap cards had very straightforward effects, it was a good deck for a beginner like Kat. Fifteen minutes had passed as Bakura taught Kat everything he needed to know about the duel monsters game, and they even went through a practice game, which was coming to a conclusion before long,
"And with no more monsters on your side of the field, I'll attack you with Dark Necrofear for game," said Bakura as he pointed down towards his monster card,
"Darn, I guess you got me," said Kat casually with a shrug, Bakura gave Kat a puzzled look,
"Hm… Kat, can I see your hand?" Bakura requested,
"Sure," said Kat as he handed Bakura the cards in his hand. Bakura quickly scanned over the cards Kat had with him with a look of confusion,
"Uh Kat, you do know that you had Kuriboh in your hand right?" Bakura asked, revealing Kuriboh's card that was within the hand,
"Yeah, why?" Kat asked,
"You could've used his effect to essentially negate the attack of Dark Necrofear and continued dueling longer," Bakura explained,
"But that would mean sacrificing him, I don't want to sacrifice my buddy," Kat explained,
"Sometimes it's necessary to sacrifice a smaller monster in order to win… also was Watapon added to your hand with the Pot of Greed card you played last turn?" Bakura asked,
"Yeah, why?" Kat asked,
"Kat, because of his effect you could've special summoned him!" Bakura explained,
"But his attack is so low, and I didn't have any equip spells, there was no way he could beat Dark Necrofear," Kat replied,
"You could've special summoned him in defense mode to keep your life points safe," Bakura explained,
"Again, that means sacrificing him," Kat replied,
"Well sometimes that's what you've got to do to win!" Said Bakura angrily. Kat looked at Bakura with wide eyes over his angry outburst, Bakura realized how loud his outburst was, cleared his throat, and composed himself,
"I'm sorry, I take this game very seriously, given that nowadays it can mean the difference between life and death… I suppose it isn't impossible to win using only low level monsters, though it would take luck and creativity to pull it off… I need to go, I hope what I taught you will become useful to you someday," said Bakura before he grabbed the deck of cards he used and started walking away from the table,
"Wait, you forgot the deck of cards you lent me," Kat explained pointing towards the deck of cards he used,
"Keep it, I hope one day we duel again, and you acquire better cards" said Bakura without turning towards Kat as he continued walking away from the table. After Bakura was no longer in sight, Kuriboh appeared by Kat's side once more in his monster form as Kat put the deck of duel monster cards in his pocket before he stood up from the table, and walked back to the monitor he was at.
As Kat typed out a name in the search bar on the monitor with the touch screen, Kuriboh looked over his shoulder,
"Y'know, it's considered rude to read over someone's shoulder," a familiar voice commented behind Kat. Both Kat and Kuriboh turned around to see Yugi Moto, Kat was pleasantly surprised, while Kuriboh was elated, immediately floating over to Yugi to nuzzle against him affectionately,
"Yugi! Hey, how have you been?" Kat asked,
"I've been doing alright, has Kuriboh been a good companion to you?" Yugi asked,
"You bet, you wouldn't believe how many times he's helped us out of a tight spot," Kat replied,
"Us?" Yugi inquired,
"Me and the rest of our hero team," Kat explained,
"Ah, you're a hero! I had no idea," Yugi commented,
"Well… I wasn't a hero when you first met me, I became a hero fairly recently," Kat explained,
"I see, you may not know this but I'm also apart of a hero group, the group consists of me and my friends our team name is "Kingdom of Games"" Yugi explained,
"Oh that's cool, is Bakura on your team?" Kat asked, Kat's question caused Yugi's eyes to widen,
"Yes, he is… but how do you know about Bakura?" Yugi inquired,
"I just met him" Kat explained,
"What?! When?!" Yugi asked in a surprised tone,
"Uh, just a minute ago, why?" Kat asked,
"Kat… Bakura has been missing for almost a week now…" Yugi explained,
"What? But I just saw him" Kat replied
"Which way did he go?" Yugi asked, Kat pointed in the direction that Bakura walked away in,
"Thanks Kat, I'll talk to you some other time," said Yugi before he promptly started walking in the direction Kat pointed towards. Kat was unsure of what the situation with Bakura meant, though he decided to shrug it off and walk back to the monitor he was at.
When Kat returned to the monitor, he typed "Jotaro" into the search bar, and the suggestion for "Jotaro Kujo" came up, and he decided to click on it. Sure enough, a profile for the guy Kat saw at Beast's castle came up, black hat and all. The page displayed a lot of information about Jotaro, including his history of dealing with crimes, his association with an organization known as The Speedwagon Foundation, personal information such as his height and blood type, and his classification as a "Freelance Hero". Kat clicked on a symbol that looked like an "i" within a circle next to the term "Freelance Hero," and a small box appeared on the screen that explained that Freelance Heroes were essentially heroes that weren't apart of a group. Kat pondered as he looked at the monitor,
"So he doesn't have any teammates… and yet he went after Dio, wow, he's a brave guy… I wonder who else I should look up while I'm here," Kat thought to himself as he went back to the search page. As Kat looked through the suggestion page, he noticed that the top suggestion was "The Righteous Paragons". Kat could've sworn that he had heard the name of that particular hero group before, then he remembered Panthro telling him about it when they were on Cinnabar Island. Kat clicked on the suggestion and looked through the members of the Paragons, the team had several members, though the founding members listed were- Mario, a hero that pretty much everyone knows, usually wearing a red shirt, white gloves, blue overalls, and of course his iconic hat, known for his incredible jumping ability and his ability to manipulate fire. Sonic, an anthro blue hedgehog with white gloves and red shoes, known for his incredible speed and his ability to draw power from mystical gemstones known as the Chaos Emeralds. Red, the man Panthro told Kat about on Cinnabar Island, recognizable by his dark hair and red cap, he has a number of powerful Pokémon under his command. Link, a hero Kat actually already knew about and was a big fan of given that he often played the Legend of Zelda video games that were made based on Link's adventures, he had blonde hair, blue eyes, pointy ears, and wore a green tunic and a green hat that looks like a nightcap, he wields a powerful sword known as the Master Sword that can eliminate evil creatures, and he has a number of other items at his disposal. All Might, a strong man with a kind heart and an unbreakable desire to help people, instantly recognizable by his iconic hairstyle, with two large tufts of hair forming the shape of horns, and his constant smile, he upholds his title of Symbol of Peace with his incredible strength. Mickey Mouse, an anthro black mouse who usually wears a black over shirt with red shorts, and large yellow shoes, he's a very iconic hero who's also the king of Disney Castle, always ready to fight off dark creatures with his powerful weapon known as the Keyblade and his immense magical power. The last founding member that remained was the leader, though just as Kat was about to click on the link that lead to his page, he could hear someone being chased around the floor by a stampede of people. Kat sighed,
"Can't I look up information in peace?" Kat asked rhetorically before he went over to investigate what the stampede of people was all about, with Kuriboh following close behind.
Kat managed to catch up with the stampede, and talked with someone in the back of it while still running,
"Hey, what's this all about? Who are you guys chasing?" Kat asked,
"Haven't you heard?! The leader of the Righteous Paragons is here! I wanna get his autograph!" The hero in the back explained,
"The leader himself huh?" Kat thought to himself as he ran. It wasn't long before Kat and the rest of the stampede were lead to the break room on the third floor, the room had a number of chairs and couches, as well some coffee machines and mugs on the counters. Everyone in the stampede looked around frantically for the leader of the Paragons, while Kat stood near the entrance, and used his Eyes of a Thief technique to see someone was hiding underneath one of the couches and smiled. Kat took a second to think of something to get the multiple heroes to leave the room, then said-
"I saw him going towards the elevator, I think he was going to the top floor," Kat lied, everyone's head turned towards Kat,
"Really?! But how could he have slipped past us? I thought we were right on his tail!" Said a female hero, a male hero next to her spoke up,
"Duh! He's the leader of the Paragons! He's awesome like that!" Said the male hero,
"C'mon! The longer we stay here, the longer it'll take us to get to him!" Said another male hero before the entire group of heroes rushed past Kat and out of the break room. When the last hero in the group left, Kat looked out the door to the break room to see they were already far down the floor, possibly even already on an elevator,
"Idiots…" Kat commented to himself before he turned towards the couch he saw the man under,
"Ok, they're gone, you can come out now, I'm not a crazed fanboy, I promise," said Kat, and after a moment of hesitation, the man came out from under the couch. The man looked as though he was the same kind of anthro cat man as Panthro, like someone who would come from Panthro's world, he had a mane of spiky red hair, teal colored eyes, primarily orange fur with some areas such as most of his face and his hands being cream colored, he wore a blue chest plate with a metal shoulder guard over his right shoulder, dark blue pants, a belt with a red spherical buckle, and silver shin guards. Kat couldn't help but feel like Panthro had told him about the man that stood before him,
"Thanks for the help, you'd think the people around here would respect personal space," said the man, while rubbing the back of his head,
"Who are you?" Kat asked, the man looked puzzled,
"You've never heard of me?" The man asked,
"I've only recently gotten into the hero business," Kat explained,
"Still, even civilians know who me and my team are, the name's Lion-O, leader of the Righteous Paragons," Lion-O explained as he offered Kat a handshake, which Kat promptly accepted to be polite. After the handshake was concluded, Kat pondered as he could've sworn he heard the name "Lion-O" before, then he recalled the conversation he had with Panthro on their way to Beast's castle,
"Oh hey, I have heard about you, Panthro told me about you!" Kat explained, Lion-O's eyes widened,
"You know Panthro?" Lion-O asked, Kat dug through his pocket, pulled out his hero learner's permit, and showed it to Lion-O,
"Yep, as a matter of fact, I'm even apart of his hero team," Kat explained happily,
"Wow, no kidding, it's been a while since I've seen Panthro… is he here?" Lion-O asked, Kat nodded,
"Great… wait no, whiskers, I have important things I need to do, I can't just shrug them off to say hi to an old friend," said Lion-O in a disappointed tone,
"What important things?" Kat asked,
"I need to file some paperwork and check for any missions we can take," Lion-O explained,
"Ah, that's unfortunate, though if you want I can tell him you said hi," Kat offered,
"Thanks," Lion-O replied before he started walking past Kat,
"Wait!" Said Kat as Lion-O was about to pass through the door to the break room, the lion man stopped and turned towards Kat,
"When you aren't busy, I'd like to talk to you, I have questions about why the Thundercats split up," Kat explained, Lion-O seemed puzzled,
"Panthro never told you?" Lion-O asked,
"Well he said you guys went your separate ways after a disagreement on how to go about fighting Mumm-Ra after he formed the Syndicate, but I'm sure there are more details than that," Kat explained, Lion-O thought for a moment,
"And if I tell you, that would make us even for helping me out?" Lion-O asked,
"Well either that or you could introduce me to Link," Kat requested meekly,
"What was that?" Lion-O asked,
"N-Nothing!" Kat replied defensively, Lion-O chuckled a bit,
"I can tell you the story and introduce you to Link, neither is too much trouble," Lion-O offered,
"Oh thanks! That'd be awesome!" Kat replied, Lion-O smiled,
"Alright it's decided then, when neither of us are busy I'll tell you the story of the Thundercats splitting up, and introduce you to Link, though until then, be a good teammate to Panthro," Lion-O instructed,
"Don't worry, I already planned to," Kat replied before Lion-O walked away. After Lion-O walked out of earshot, Kat turned towards Kuriboh,
"What should we do now?" Kat asked,
"Kuri Kuri, Kuri Kuri Kuri," Kuriboh suggested,
"Oh yeah, I guess we should get back to the others, hope I didn't leave them waiting for too long," said Kat before he and Kuriboh made their way back to the lobby.
When Kat made his way to the entrance, he could see everyone waiting for him, including Jon, Sulley and Leomon, who all had ruffled fur,
"There you are, what took so long?" Panthro asked,
"A number of things, also Lion-O says hi," Kat explained, causing Panthro's eyes to widen,
"Wait, you saw him?" Panthro asked, Kat nodded,
"Man… I should talk to him when I get a chance," Panthro thought aloud,
"Kat! We got registered!" Said Beast as he and Mercenary took out their licenses and showed them to Kat, Beast's picture showed him giving a nice and wide smile that showed all his sharp fangs, while Mercenary's picture depicted him giving a much more casual smile, he didn't even show teeth in his picture,
"Wow! So you guys passed your hero tests!" Kat commented,
"Well actually no, their hero tests aren't today, the licenses you see are temporary licenses, or temp licenses for short, they grant almost all the same benefits as a regular hero license, though as the name implies they're temporary, and are so these two can help with hero work until their respective tests are ready," Doggie explained,
"No offense, but hopefully we'll have found Zero before my test comes up," said Mercenary,
"You don't want to be a member?" Sulley asked,
"I agreed to be a temporary member until we find Zero, I'm not really up for being a hero for a living," Mercenary explained,
"That's understandable, what happened to you three by the way?" Panthro asked, referring to Jon, Leomon and Sulley,
"We were trampled by some of our fans among the hero community," Jon explained in an irritated tone, Panthro tilted his head,
"We have fans among the hero community? Panthro asked,
"Apparently," Jon replied with a sigh,
"Pretty vicious fans at that," Leomon commented,
"Thankfully we managed to get away from them," Sulley commented,
"It's a good thing no one knows who I am yet, and I could file the report without trouble," Kat explained,
"It's also a good thing that you didn't get lost in this giant building," Panthro commented,
"You were worried for nothing," Jon commented,
"So, now that the report is filled, what do we do now?" Kat asked,
"We keep doing our usual hero stuff until we get a lead, it's all we can do really," Panthro replied
"Oh…" Kat replied in an uneasy tone, Doggie walked over to Kat and put a hand on his shoulder,
"It's alright Kat, we'll find her, have faith in the Hero community, but more importantly, have faith in your fellow Anthros," Doggie suggested in an encouraging tone,
"That's right, though for now, focus on helping us with other missions until we get a lead, c'mon, let's head back to base," Panthro instructed as the Anthros started to leave the HR building, Kat sighed,
"Adventure on," said Kat to himself, Panthro turned towards Kat with a puzzled expression,
"What was that?" Panthro inquired,
"Oh, nothing, I've just been thinking about if our team had a catch phrase," Kat explained,
"And you think "Adventure on" would be a good one?" Sulley asked,
"Kind of?" Kat said with a shrug and an unsure tone,
"I mean, I don't hate it, though let's discuss that another time," Panthro suggested as the Anthros made their way through the parking lot.
Back at the Syndicate's castle, Mumm-Ra was finishing up the resurrection spell, with Dio close behind him,
"Just remember Dio, resurrection comes with a heavy cost, if your resurrected stand users are killed or defeated, their soul will be sent to purgatory, and you won't be able to resurrect them again, and also their souls will be different in some aspects, so it's entirely possible that the abilities of their stands will be different considering stands are connected to one's soul," Mumm-Ra explained,
"I'm well aware of the risks of using this spell, it'll be fine," Dio replied,
"Very well then, who are you bringing back first by the way?" Mumm-Ra asked,
"Oh, he's someone who will plant seeds of doubt and distrust among the Anthros," said Dio with an evil laugh.
