The room was dark except the lights from various LED screens littered around the workshop. A single reptilian figure crouches over her desk fiddling with a single solid piece of technology; a ROSE as they were called on the market. Crescent looked over them with a bit of a scowl, running her hand through her hair as she thought.
“It should not be this hard for ME, ME of all people to jailbreak a piece of tech” she turned to a nearby laptop and typed in a few lines of code turning back to the ROSE as she watched data stream across it’s interface before a single message appeared in bold block letters. ACCESS REJECTED . Crescent clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth as she leaned down to look at the glasses at “eye to eye” .
“I have not been beat by a piece of tech yet my dears and you will not be the first” Her tone still determined as she stood from the table to head to her fridge. Opening the refrigerator she grabbed a container of cooled tea, pouring it into a tumbler cup. She took a long sip of the drink from it’s straw before letting out a sharp shrill whistle while clenching her fist. A swarm of variously colored neon lights swarmed around her hands like fog.
A smirk fell on Crescent’s white scaled face as she pointed at the rose, causing the neon fog to dash through the air and ingulf the ROSE. Raising her hands to a typing position more of the neon fog appeared and formed what looked as though it was a floating keyboard and others becoming almost a screen. She moved her hands across the ethereal keyboard in front of her as she watched both her neon screen and the ROSE, the rose tumbling around in the air as the fog lifted, prodded and rotated the equipment.
She could always do as expected of her, with her tech knowledge any job was hers to take, fortune working for the highest bidding company. This was not Crescent’s way. She was not to be in a suit, go to work nine to five, have chats by the water cooler and complain about how she hates mondays. Her mind was not to be bound by such mundanity, she was going to prove herself any way she could. Besides she had tried that, she was too radical for the corporate life.
Crescent’s time with the security firm had only proven that. She developed a way to send messages to the subconscious through lights, after all the best way to stop crime is to prevent it from happening right? This idea was not for them, claiming it was too intrusive to roll out, could be used for the wrong purposes. She’ll show them, after all what better way to prove that it not only is safe but for good than to roll it out through commercial huds? She would leave the populace in a neon fog of bliss and ecstasy she just needed to open this acrylic door.
For what felt like hours Crescent continued to prod at the software within the ROSE with her neon fog of nanomachines before finally over the ROSE a message manifests. PROGRAMING BREACHED. Crescent again smiled, thinking she had achieved her goal with it before the ROSE’s screen started to flash and lights started appearing outside her workshop. She looked around the room with pride.
“Well, it seems I have gained some attention, I best put my best claw forward” she extended her arms out as the neon fog of bots grabed and placed a leather jacket on to her body as she turned to her door and waited for her guests.
